I had wanted Very Hollywood by Michael Kors ever since I saw it in the shop on its release as it was a very bold and glamorous looking bottle which caught my eye. It was even better when I tried the sample and the smell lived up to my expectations. The whole look of it really was what attracted me which is not like me and finally I was ecstatic when my mother bought me this for Christmas as I have waited a year if not longer.
The box of this perfume is really nice and very girly; it is a light pink with gold fancy writing and a gold metallic border and stars on the front. It has a really nice square bottle too. The lid is a long rectangle same colour as the box with the Very Hollywood logo printed onto it. The actual bottle is made with curves pushed into the glass, it is an odd effect but I got the limited edition Christmas bottle which is frosted glass, covered with gold glitter and around the neck has a ribbon with a gold star dangling from it.
The perfume on first spray smells very sweet and almost fruity in a way if not slightly flowery. It is quite fresh almost reminds me a bit of DKNY Be Delicious but a lot sweeter. It is not overpowering but is a light day scent or could be a romantic evening scent it is very versatile which is what I love about it and always makes me happy when I wear it.
The top notes of this perfume are Mandarin and Blackcurrant leaves which are very apparent as the fruity hint of the perfume is one of the more obvious scents. The heart note is Gardenia and the base note is Soft Amber so it isn't a perfume flooded and infused with too many scents but a small amount of rich and complimentary notes which create the perfect blend for all seasons.
The perfume is one I'd instantly associate with a younger more glamorous girl, it is advertised this way but older women may want to feel glamorous and sophisticated wearing this too. It is a perfume for all ages and is a unique scent which makes it worth purchasing as it always gets complimented by friends when I wear it too and isn't one that ever other woman owns which I like.
This perfume is one I'd recommend for anyone to give a try. It's an easy going perfume with a nice fruity/floral scent and it stays on very well. I never find myself reapplying it at all as the scent keeps all day. It also never seems to fade it smells the same from the moment it is sprayed until the end of the day.
If you think you are interested in this scent I'd recommend going on eBay for a bargain first. I'm sure the limited edition bottles are over now Christmas is too but the RRP for this on the perfume shop website is £34.50 for the 30ml EDP, £29.50 for the 30ml EDT and £41.50 for the 50ml EDT. On Boots.com they are only selling the EDP so it is £33.28 for the 30ml, £49 for the 50ml and £69 for the 100ml so it isn't the cheapest but it is worth the money. I did see one gift set at Christmas but I can't seem to see it anymore so it must be nearer holidays they bring this out.

Michael Kors: Very Hollywood, Eau de Parfum
It was Michael Kors name that first attracted me to this perfume, I am a bit of a fan of 'Project Runway' where he is one of the featured judges. This was the first of his perfumes that I was aware of, however, I believe there are a few previous fragrance available.
Personally, I use this as a day perfume, I prefer something heavier and muskier for an evening out. This is a rather sweet fragrance but not too floral and it isn't very heavy or too strong even on first spray.
I don't think the name suits the perfume, when I first saw the name I immediately thought that this would be a night time fragrance, something suitable for the red carpet. That's not what this is, it is a lovely perfume but the name, in my opinion is misleading.
The specific olfactory notes include;
Top Notes: mandarin, frozen bergamot, raspberry.
Heart Notes: moist jasmine, ylang ylang, gardenia, irisroot.
Base Notes: creamy amber, white moss, vetiver.
The slightly fruity smells and jasmine really combine together to make a lovely smelling perfume. Overall I think this has a pretty average longevity for a eau de parfum, which always should last longer than a eau de toilette. When you spray this it does stay around for the afternoon, without the need to constantly re-apply.
A bottle doesn't necessarily put me off a perfume but I do like to get a fragrance that ticks all the boxes and that includes how the bottle looks. This isn't one of my favourite bottles, but it is still pretty and feels chunky and expensive. As you can see from the picture above it is a rather square (ish) shape with a decorative clear cut glass which allows you to see the slightly pinky perfume. It's always nice to see how much you have left, makes you appreciate it that bit more when you come to the end.
This is quite a pricey perfume typically retailing £50 for a 50ml bottle. However, it is always best to shop around for perfume because there are some bargains to be had. This perfume does last for quite a while and it does smell lovely, if the price doesn't put you off then do go and try this fragrance, it really is lovely.
I am going to give this four out of five stars. If I had to sum this up I would describe it as sweet, girlie and light. It makes a fantastic day and summer perfume.
