Worth a test if you see it.

      The fragrance

Miss Sixty Elixir is the second fragrance by the Italian designer house and is described as a mysterious, oriental perfume, that "oozes femininity".

When I first apply this the only note I smell is a lightly powdered, spiced citrus. The licorice like scent of the star anise overtakes the grapefruit note so there is no real bite to the citrus, but it's definitely there and prevents the star anise from becoming cloying and/or too sweet.

As the fruit dries down, the spicy note carries on and takes on a distinctly clove-like scent, which I'm assuming is the borrachero (brugmansia) flower. I'm not hugely familiar with borrrachero flower but I've heard that it's meant to be intoxicatingly strong, but the sweet and spicy floral note here is fairly mild. It may be that the note of lotus flower is diffusing the strength of it, as I can pick up on the lotus, but it seems watery to me - or maybe there's a melon accord in the mix? There are clearly other floral notes used in ELIXIR, but the concentrations of borrachero and lotus are higher then them, so I can't definitely identify any of them with confidence. The only note I'll take a stab at naming is rose, since there is another powdered-but-sweet note that burns down through to the base.

There is nothing exciting about the base, it's made up of the same scent notes that the majority of today's fragrances use; Creamy sandalwood and vanilla, with a hint of airy musk. It's a nice and familiar blend for the fragrance to dry down with, but it's boring and just makes it all too similar to almost everything else.

There is also a parfum version of ELIXIR available from selected stockists [Precious Elixir]. The EDP version has the same scent and bottle, the only real way to tell the difference is that the EDP bottle has a atomizer.

      The bottle
      - - - - - - - - -

The bottle is lovely; Purple and pink, in the shape of a potion bottle. It's very unique and looks pretty sitting on my dresser. The bottle has a design of flowering vines embossed into the glass.

      Other buying considerations
      - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The lasting power is pretty much what I was expecting from a inexpensive EDT; It burns down within four hours and becomes close to the skin within two hours. It's not that great, but you can buy bottles of ELIXIR for under a tenner, so I think the low price cancels out the so-so lasting power.

The vanilla and spicy florals, paired with the warm musk and sandalwood in the base mean that this is a perfect choice for autumn/winter, whilst the fact that the fragrance is close to the skin, watered down and has a light citrus burst means that the sweetness is soft enough to still appealing during the warmer spring/summer months too.

I suppose it is really a 'any time' fragrance, but I tend to stick to daytime wear [both casual use and work] with my bottle. I personally don't reach for it on nights out as it doesn't last long and I don't like carrying around glass bottles for topping up my fragrances.

      My thoughts
      - - - - - - - - - -

I received my bottle as a gift and when I wear it I do enjoy it, but for whatever reason I go months without looking at it twice. I think it's biggest problem is that it reminds me instantly of several fragrances [though I don't find that surprising with the thousands of mass market perfumes launched each year], so it's easy to overlook it in favour of wearing something more unique.

If you like any of the Miss Sixty fragrances, the Lolita Lempicka fragrances, Beyonce Heat or Emporio Armani Diamonds, ELIXIR is worth looking out for.

It is nice to be able to wear an oriental fragrance during spring/summer that isn't cloying and there are other good points too: It's good for any time of day and all year round, it can be bought for under a tenner, most shops stock it, the bottle is nice for collectors and it can be worn by any age.

As it's already similar to perfumes I already own, I won't buy it myself, although it's nice enough that I would wear it if it were given to me as a gift. I also think that it would be a safe gift choice for someone, as it's easy to wear and none of the notes are strong enough to be disagreeable.

      30ml: £20
      50ml: £26
      75ml: £32

I'm not sure if it's being discontinued, but the 50ml and 75ml bottles are becoming harder to find. You can usually buy the 30ml bottle for under a tenner, both on-line and on the high street.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Not a great perfume.

I was given this perfume as a gift. I thought the bottle looked amazing, it is a beautiful shape and colour and does look amazing on my dressing table. The sade thing is that is smells awful! It smells synthetic and cheap, and a bit like washing up liquid. I wore it once on a night out to see if it would grow on me and it didn't, not only that but it also irritated my skin and left me with a red rash where I had sprayed it. Needless to say I have not worn it since. I am very glad that I did not but this perfume for myself as I think it would have been a waste of money. The only good thing about it is that it has amazing packaging and does function as a pretty object on my dressing table. You might like this perfume but I really don't

        A really nice feminine perfume

Miss by Miss Sixty eau de toilette spray
For Christmas this year one of my favourite presents that I received was this Miss Sixty perfume. It is simply called 'Miss' by Miss Sixty.

When I opened the present, the eau de toilette was in a boxed set with the matching body lotion included. The colours are navy and pinky purple on the box with a flower on the corner.
I like the colours and I especially like the bottle design of the perfume; it comes in a glass, cube - shaped container as shown in the picture and under the lid there is a flower added on for decoration. It is really pretty and girly and the cube shape is simple but in my eyes effective. I would be drawn to it if I saw it in a shop.

I think this perfume is aimed at women. At first because of the name I thought it might be more for younger women, but now I have researched more into it I think it would be lovely for all ages.

I would describe the fragrance as flowery, refreshing, sweet and light. I would wear this during both the day and evening although probably not to go clubbing or to a party. It is light so would be perfect for daywear, but it might feel too formal for sport. I chose in the specific criteria that I would wear this for formal occasions, this is because I think it would be suitable for work or school.

In the morning when I want to wear this I spray it onto my wrists and neck and all day it stays there, faintly but I can tell it is there if I sniff my writsts. This stays on for even longer when you put the matching body lotion on first and then spray this on. I would also recommend the body lotion.
The eau de toilette spray isn't too strong, but it is nice and light and just not too overpowering. Some perfumes can get up my nose and make me sneeze even when I don't put much on, but with this one I'd only sneeze if I sprayed loads onto my wrist then stuck my nose onto it for about five minutes which you wouldn't really catch me doing very often anyway!

This was a perfect gift for me and I really like it, I use it most days as it is fresh and light. There is 30ml in the bottle so I think it will last me a good few months.
I would recommend this for all women and girls.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This fragrance is fruity, oriental and mysterious

Miss sixty Elixir is uber fruity. The packaging consists of a rather stylish purple rectangular box with a branch floral motif on and the words Miss sixty elixir on the front. The bottle is rounded at the bottom then like a tube shape upwards, and it tilts sideways when stood up, its a lighter shade of purple at the bottom and then gets darker up the stem, and it has the same floral branch motif etched into the glass. The fragrance is fruity but mysterious and girly at the same time and its notes include star anise, grapefruit, lotus blossom, sandalwood and vanilla. When sprayed you instantly get that fruity energetic burst, but after a while it mellows out into an oriental modern scent. a couple of sprays last virtually all day and it isn't sticky when sprayed, this fragrance could be worn both day and night. Prices range from around £8-10 for a 30ml bottle to around £15-20 for a 75ml bottle which is well worth it, and it can be bought at major retailers such as boots and superdrug and online at amazon, eBay and especially cheap at fragrance direct and cheap smells. On a whole this fragrance is fruity with an oriental twist.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Elixir will changes your senses fr good

Better known for it's demin and clothing lines, Miss Sixty is a fairly new italian company and was only established in 1991. Fragrances and shoes have only been added to their lines in the last two years.

The company is particularly popular with young women and teenagers, which in my opinion, is reflected in this sweet smelling fragrance. This ultra-modern, fruity fragrance challenges yet oozes femininity. With ingredients such as badian, grapefruit and the exotic lotus flower contrasting with the seductive sandlewood and vanilla undertones, Elixir is a unique bewitching potion.

As an employee of Miss Sixty, I must add that the fragrance is continuously a best seller and customers often return to the store for more.

With a stylish shaped and patterned bottle which tilts and leans to one side, it adds a mysterious and seductive edge to the fragrance.

Prices range from £19.60 - £26.60 and can be purchased from all Miss Sixty Stores and other selected fragrance stores around the UK.
