Moment de Bonheur Eau de Toilette
Advantages: Smells fresh and floral
Disadvantages: Fades too quickly
When I placed an order with the french beauty company Yves Rocher in mid Summer last year I was very pleased to receive a miniature bottle of one of their new fragrances which was to be launched in the September (2011) entitled 'Moment de Bonheur'.
What I really like about Yves Rocher is though the majority of the time they may send sachets as samples but a lot of the time I have received a miniature version of the product, which amongst other things makes it perfect for holidays as it's travel size and this particular sample is an impressive 10 ml.
The full size bottle of Moment de Bonheur is actually quite stunning, being an upright slim line rectangular shape with a simplistic glass lid but it is the colouring of the bottle which is it's most alluring feature. Beginning in a leafy green at the base before morphing slowly into yellow then pale pink before becoming deeper pink at the neck of the bottle this is quite spectacular visually. As I only have the miniature though my bottle is far less impressive, being a rectangular design still and similar lid, but the glass is transparent and doesn't have the same colouring as the full size unfortunately. With the glass being clear on the smaller sized bottle though it is possible to see the warm colouring of the EDP which is a pretty feminine pink.
This is available in a 30ml as well as a 50ml sized bottle and there are matching products available as well including a body milk, deodorant and a shower gel.

The fragrance itself:
Moment de Bonheur is meant to complement the changing seasons of Summer into Autumn and this is represented in the composition which is made up of the following:

As I have mentioned before in fragrance reviews I'm not normally drawn to floral based perfumes as I tend to find them a little bit too overpowering and too powdery, preferring something deeper and oriental based as a rule. I do have a soft spot for anything that features Rose though and make an exception to try rose fragrances as I find them soft and fresh as opposed too flowery (if that makes sense).
Even though this has rose featured in it's heart notes I can honestly say I don't think I would have opted to try this out if I hadn't have been sent a sample as it sounded like it would be too 'leafy' for my liking so when it arrived I was a little apprehensive about wearing it.
On removing the small cube like lid of my miniature I was pleasantly surprised that this was a deeper scent than I first anticipated and to my delight I could detect the rose notes instantly.
Having applied a small amount of this to my skin I started to make out the green notes used in the opening and these seemed to intensify the longer I wore this. At first there was a very fresh aroma on my skin that reminded me somewhat of freshly cut grass and after about 5 minutes the rose used in the heart became far more prominent. I like how the rose and the green leaves seem to compliment each other but don't be fooled into thinking this is just comes across smelling like a freshly cut bunch of roses as you would be wrong.
Once the fragrance has fully settled onto my skin I notice that there is a woody and earthy feel to it and this changes the tone of it completely, turning it from being a fresh and light floral scent to a deeper and heavier EDP.
Would I recommend this EDP? I was certainly surprised at how nice this came across as I suspected at first it would just be another leafy/ floral fragrance and one I could probably live without ever trying. On actually wearing Moment de Bonheur I was taken in with the freshness of it and this is one of the reasons I am such a fan of YR products as nothing ever comes across as artificial as their products are all plant based and this certainly shows here.
The only main let down here for me is that once applied it does start to fade pretty quickly - not instantly - but doesn't quite have the staying power that it should have given it's classed as a 'premium' fragrance. The fact that it is an EDP as well is quite surprising in the longevity stakes as after about 2 hours of applying I could barely detect even a whimper of a scent unfortunately.
I do like this fragrance but certainly wouldn't pay the full cost of £38 for the 50ml, nor even £17 for the 30ml as it just falls short with the staying power. As a freebie of course I'm not going to complain and have been happy to splash on to my wrists and neck quite liberally when the fragrance needs topping up as my little bottle fits perfectly and conveniently in my bag.
This is very nice and certainly fresh, but I wouldn't buy it myself as even though it's rose based it still doesn't quite win me over and the lack of staying power after testing this sample is enough to make me not purchase it myself.
Moment de Bonheur is certainly a very pretty scent that starts off promisingly but is let down by too many factors to make it worth buying, but that's just my opinion and if interested then it's worth looking on Ebay for a sample to make your own mind up.
If the initial scent lasted longer then it would get top marks from me but as it is I can only award it 2/5.
Summary: Would be a lovely fragrance if it lasted longer
