Getting a male fragrance in my Latest in Beauty box was not top of the priorities list but this is what happened quite recently. That meant my husband got a bonus item but I also knew the premium brand Mont Blanc, famous for their pens but also big in the fragrance industry now and had faith that they wouldn't release a rubbish fragrance.
A bit about
This fragrance was first released in 2011, so it's not all that new on the market but it was certainly new to me. The Legend fragrance promises uniting notes that evoke strength and sensitivity, tradition and modernism.
My first impressions were just WOW on this aftershave. First of all just a tiny dab gave a powerful amount of aroma and I always like to guess the contents on the first smell and my thoughts were initially that it had a minty smell to it but in a nice way.
What's in it?
Perfume ingredients are always important and I tend to gravitate to key contents when it comes to picking a favourite and this applies to both men and women's fragrances. I just had to look up the contents to find out for this review The composition opens with fresh aromatic tones of bergamot, lavender, pineapple leaf and exotic verbena (Litsea Cubeba). The heart notes emphasize oak moss that are merged with geranium, coumarin, apple, rose, and dried fruits. The base contains sandalwood, tonka and evernyl. No mint in there then!
I bought a 50ml bottle of this from Amazon for just under £30 following my great first impressions of the sample - it also shows that the beauty boxes work in selling full sized items too. The aftershave is a gift for father's day for my hubby as he liked the sample like me and so it was a guaranteed winner as a present for next weekend.
Obviously the sample was just a small glass bottle on a carded mount featuring a beautiful British model, Simon Clark (worth googling ladies!). However the full sized bottle does not disappoint with a curved black bottle that is remniscent of the Mont Blanc Meisterstück pen design, made of glass and metal. Very classy indeed.
This is definitely a phwoar men's fragrance and one I can definitely recommend as a powerful manly fragrance that is sure to impress the ladies. Both me and my husband adore this aftershave and it's a bit limited and hard to find but easier to buy online. I think that the ingredients are a little misleading as it's not really very fruity in my opinion and the overwhelming smell to me is a lovely leathery smell (but in a good way of course!).
Men can be hard to buy for but I think most would be happy with this as a gift. Yes, it is a premium brand but it's more affordable than their pens (I nearly published a humdinger of a typo then!!). A bottle will last ages as it is quite concentrated and long lasting too so a high quality item. I am delighted to have discovered this aftershave and think it's a good all rounder.
