Mmmm! This perfume is so good you'll want to lick it off of your skin!
Seriously though, it's a great, girly, fun perfume that I presume is aimed at teenagers/20 year olds but depending on taste and preference could suit women of any age.
I receive this perfume as a gift and was surprised that a perfume by MOSCHINO (an international designer label) would be called "Cheap and Chic"..well obviously I have no idea of the price but Chic it certainly is!
The scent is light and airy and it's not one of those ones that you have to wait half an hour for it to kick in...you can smell the biter-sweetness straight away.
The bottle is charming. It's in the shape of a person. I assumed that it was a doll of some sort with black hair and a cute bun. It's defiantly a different bottle in contrast with all the glass ovular shapes that are frequently on the shelves. Although it's made of plastic it doesn't make it tacky. It's pretty cute actually.
Anyway...I'm babbling. More about the scent. When I first smelt the perfume it reminded me of fudge. The sweet, creamy smell that you get from the fudge section in the sweet shop. There are also floral notes and a surprisingly earthy tone after a couple of minutes. It's one of those one's that "taste" nice in the air surrounding when you spray it...not bitter or alcohol like.
Anyway, I would say that this is a great little perfume for someone looking for something fun and flirty. The only downside I can think of is it seems to "disappear" quite quickly. You can defiantly smell it after an hour or so but after 2 or 3 you'll be questioning yourself as to whether you actually applied any!
So, yes this is a great perfume. But not really if you're looking for something to last you all day at work.
Being a collector of perfumes and having roughly 52 different fragrances in my collection, I decided to add to that collection by purchasing a trial size bottle of Moschino L'eau Cheap and Chic in the ETD ( eau de toilette ) ...... Banking on the fact that if I didn't like the fragrance then all I had forked out was £3.95 for a handy trial size bottle.
When dabbed on ( yes dabbed as the trial size bottle is a straight forward open and dab affair unlike the 30 ml spray bottle) the perfume soon became apparent by its distinctive clean and somewhat soapy aroma..... Very pleasant and slightly fruity smell.
Being impressed I went onto the Moschino web site and did some research into this new to me, perfume and was not at all surprised to see it described as being a soapy, sexy, flirty scent.
The notes of gooseberry, star anise, orange freesia and heliotrope reinforced my first impressions of it having a fruity smell and when wearing this perfume I would imagine it to be ideal for perking up dull days and giving the wearer a lift as this is most certainly a bright and fun perfume.
Now knowing that I found this to be a very wearable perfume I trotted off to my local shop to invest in a bigger bottle.... Prices range from £13.00 for a 1.7 oz ETD and can be as much as £22.00 depending on where you shop...
The bottle is an interesting design and on first glance looks like a penguin with a choir boy collar effect... It comes in a tall slim bottle with a frosted glass half base and an orange upper. Then there is a white collar type and a bright green penguin type head. The box is in the same orange bottom section and then a bright green top section with of course the distinctive Moschino heart in the middle with the perfumes name on it..
Having worn the perfume for the past three days to get the feel, so to speak, I agree with the clean, soapy, sporty, description that it boasts... Being of a cheaper range of perfumes, I did not feel that the perfume lasted as well as it should have, and although I received comments on how nice it smelt, I did not rate it as a lasting perfume.
Perfume types reflect the concentration compounds in a solvent and EDT have 5-15% strength with a typical 10% of aromatic compounds ..... I would have been better off going for a perfume extract which would have been stronger as they have 15-40% aromatic compounds with a typical 20% strength....
To sum up.... lovely bright and sporty smell, slightly flirty ( will ask a friend when I wear it at our next meeting !) that is guaranteed to brighten your mood and perk up your day....
Tell me what is wrong with a little flirting in your dull autumn day?
Thanks for reading. x
