I was given this perfume, Narciso Rodriguez 'For Her', by a family member a few weeks ago. I had never heard of it though but she insisted it was quite exclusive. When I looked the perfume up online I discovered it was considerably more expensive than any perfume I've ever used before! It's price tag has not influenced my opinions regarding the quality and tone of the perfume though.
I have a large 100ml bottle of this eau de toilette but you can also get it in smaller 30ml and 50ml versions. The perfume comes in a very heavy glass bottle which is a bit too heavy to want to carry around. I can just about get away with lugging it around in a larger handbag but since it is 11 ½ by 7 cm it is too big to fit into a smaller handbag. The bottle is plain but looks rather mysterious since the inside of the bottle appears to be painted black and the top and dispensing button are also black. The sparse text on the front of the bottle is delicate pink. The overall design feels sort of post-modernist to me. It's clean-cut simple design makes me think of city boutiques and high fashion catwalks.
The perfume is dispensed as a fine, delicate mist and you can hold the bottle up to about nine or ten inches away or much closer depending on the spot you are targeting. I like to spray this on my wrists and my neck. I often spray perfume on my clothes but this one is so effective and powerful that one squirt on either the neck or wrists or both is enough to make me smell great.
As mentioned I had never heard of Narciso Rodriguez but after visiting his website discovered he is a fashion designer. This made perfect sense to me and I feel that the design and character of his signature perfume is very representative of someone in this kind of industry where women are worshipped as objects of art and beauty. His official website describes this perfume as being "a rare musk" which is complimented by "delicate floral osmanthus notes, soft amber and hints of patchouli."
Almost immediately after using this perfume for the first time I felt a rush of warmth and love as the notes danced around my body. This is the type of perfume that once you apply it you can smell it on yourself for hours. This sounds ridiculous but after I've applied the perfume I feel sort of enveloped in a bold sensuality and dream-like state. The perfume reminds me I'm a woman and it reaffirms all the positive qualities of femininity.
I would describe the perfume as being strong but not in the sense that it chokes you when you apply it! It simply has a long lasting and strong presence once applied. It is the sort of perfume you could adopt as your signature scent so that everyone who knew you would expect you to smell like this! I feel that the perfume is equally musky and sweet. The sweeter floral and fruity notes feel sharp and playful whilst the darker musky notes have a burning ember type of quality - they overtake the senses more slowly but once they do they are spellbinding. The quality of the fragrance is excellent and it is very individual.
I think Rodriguez has done an excellent job in creating a perfume that captures the essence of a woman among all women - representing her grace, sexual identity, wisdom and beauty across all of history. I'm very impressed and using this perfume makes me feel like a piece of living art!
I would recommend this beautiful fragrance to any women but I think it might resonate more with older women since it's a fragrance that feels like it's inspired by complex ideologies. I would imagine it's way too heady and all encompassing to appeal to teens. I am certainly pleased to have received this perfume and hope it lasts me a long time! I think the higher price tag is justified since the perfume is so exquisite and potent.

I have been advised to put my review on this page although it is a different edt from Narciso Rodriquez I am reviewing. The one I have is titled "l'eau for her" and described as a new and exclusive fragrance on the Selfridges website.
What is it?
The new floral fragrance by Narciso Rodriguez. A heart of musk enhanced by a soft yet bursting floral opening. The bottle features a pale pink interior which is magnified by the purity of glass.
I was lucky to receive a sample from my beauty box subscription so I could try this perfume and I got two generous applications from the small spray sample. I say generous as it was so subtle I found I had to spray it half a dozen times to get a noticeable effect from the bottle.
Since having babies, I am always quite conscious of wearing strong smelling perfumes, particularly with a newborn often on my shoulder and nuzzling my neck I don't really want her to come in to contact with unnecessary chemicals so I do prefer a less smelly fragrance and tend to spray more on my wrists, avoiding any areas she might inadvertently lick. With this perfume I found it far too subtle to notice after a couple of sprays and I would directly sniff my wrist to smell it after application and it was pleasant but definitely very light!
The websites that sell this edt are quite vague about its content only saying it has a heart of musk and a bursting floral opening (three sites said this!).
A 50ml bottle is £46 and 100ml retails at £66 on the Selfridges website.
I think that this perfume is like the Emperor's new clothes... I could smell it lightly on application then never noticed it for the rest of the day. I had to spray lots before I could get anything on my body and even then I think you'd have detected the fragrance from my roll on deodorant before smelling this if I invited you to have a whiff! I am all for subtle fragrances and will more often choose something light over a heavy perfume but I really think this is a very expensive perfume for what you get and I would say it is a bit of a rip off.
