Advantages: well presented, nice light fragrance, will appeal to most, price
Disadvantages: doesn't last well, not overly special
My best friend of 24 years knows how much I love trying out new perfumes. We had a giggle on Christmas Day when she opened her present from us to reveal one of my favourite perfumes - Britney Midnight Fantasy. In return, I was pleased to open my present which revealed a bottle of one of her favourite perfumes - Next Just Pink. I suppose we will never be disappointed by the lack of perfumes on offer when visiting each other!
I can't say that I have ever sampled the Next fragrances prior to receiving my bottle of Just Pink. It isn't a store that I visit often as I find them to be overpriced (for clothing/homeware etc). As well as stocking a range of designer perfumes, Next also offer several own branded perfumes including 'Eau Nude' and 'New York'.
~Just Pink~
Just Pink is described as being 'a fresh green floral fragrance with soft fruits and pink blooms'. It is available in an eau de toilette. The fragrance notes in the perfume are said to include mandarin, peach, freesia, rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and wild orchid.
Just Pink is presented in a large, thick glass bottle. The glass is clear allowing the pink tinted perfume to be visible. A chunky clear lid and ribbon completes the look. The bottle is curvy and will only sit at a slant on a flat surface. The bottle is placed within a pretty pink, cardboard box which opens up like a book. I like the bottle but don't find it to sit steady so opt to keep it in its box. The overall design is simple, girly and pretty.
~Price and Availability~
Just Pink EDT is available in a 75ml size. It can be bought from www.next.co.uk or instore priced at £10.00.
~My Thoughts~
I was pleased to receive this as a gift. It is a relatively cheap but well presented perfume and in my opinion, aimed at younger wearers as a light yet floral fragrance. Just Pink is a pleasant enough perfume to wear. Being an eau de toilette, it is light and generally a daytime fragrance as opposed to one which I would choose to wear for a special occasion.
I find a few sprays on my neck and wrist more than sufficient to give a pleasant level of scent on my skin and clothing. Too little and there isn't enough scent to be noticeable. Too much and the scent appears cheap and overpowering. It is important to get the balance right to get the most from Just Pink EDT.
The first spray of Just Pink settles on my skin to reveal a light, fruity aroma. The mandarin is the predominant note and is quite juicy and refreshing. The scent is quite subtle but still noticeable. The fruity notes start to disappear quite quickly and the entire scent changes to a light floral aroma which reminds me of delicate flowers. I'm not crazy for floral scents but appreciate the light, green feel that the floral notes in Just Pink offer. It gives the perfume a fresh feel which makes it ideal for warmer days. The freesia is noticeable with hints of rose but the other floral notes merge together and form a fresh but quite generic undertone.
After two hours or so, the main floral notes are still noticeable and the scent remains light and feminine. There isn't much more to the scent. Unlike other scents where the scent changes between the heart notes and base notes, Just Pink remains simply floral until the last hint of aroma starts to fade from my skin at a gradual pace. I can't notice Just Pink after 3 hours of wear.
~Conclusion~
Just Pink is a nice enough scent to wear but is far from being a special scent to me. It is a basic perfume which isn't overly unique but very versatile and easy to wear in my opinion. It is light but fragrant. It doesn't last all that long but given the price of a 75ml bottle, it is cheap enough to top up a few times through the day. It isn't one which I favour over my more expensive perfumes but it is nice to wear as a change. I can see me getting most use out of it during the Summer when a heavier fragrance may be a little much.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: a well received gift but not one I'd buy myself
