Next Very Red Eau de Toilette
Advantages: Smells beautiful
My husband has had an account with Next since before I met him but these days it's me that tends to order from the catalogue as I like their childrens clothing range.
On my last order a few months ago I was just about to go the the 'checkout' when I decided to peruse the ladies fragrance collection. I have always been a fan of their own brand of toiletries and have received many gift sets and perfumes in the past as Christmas/Birthday presents and think they are very good value and smell far more expensive than they actually are.
I noticed they had some new fragrances added to their range and particularly liked the sound of 'Very Red' and even more so the price - for a 30ml sized bottle the price was a very enticing £6.50. The price clinched it for me and I treated myself to a bottle so here are my thoughts..
Very Red is a warm and fruity fragrance as the title suggests and features notes of the following:
Red fruit blossoms
Red rose petals
The fragrance is an EDT and is available in the one size though there is also a gift set comprising of the 30ml EDT, bath salts, body lotion and shower gel all fragranced with the Very Red scent at a very reasonable £12.
The design of the bottle is quite simplistic being upright standing with a plain silver lid. The bottle is made of a thick and sturdy glass and is actually more of a deep pink than a red but still looks attractive with it's soft rounded curves that veer out just below the neck. There is a nice silver metal nozzle which is hidden underneath a tall plastic silver coloured lid which to be honest lets the appearance down as it slightly cheapens the look.
My experience of wearing this~
What mainly attracted me to this was the low price - I won't deny the fact it was only £6.50 didn't come in to it as it sounded 'cheap' enough to be able to throw in my bag and not worry too much about it. The fact the bottle is made from a very thick glass is reassuring as that is exactly where this has lived since purchasing it and apart from the odd scratch the appearance is the same and the lid has also stayed intact so no leakage has occurred (always a plus!).
On spritzing this on to my skin I was surprised at how strong the scent actually was, I don't know why but I expected it to be more softer but it's actually quite strong though not in an overpowering way. Because of the strength I have found that one spritz is sufficient to each area (i.e one per wrist etc) as any more is just too much!
The fragrance itself is very pretty and though the jasmine and the red rose petals can be detected it is most definitely the top notes that steal the show here. Though it only states on the Next website that it contains Red Fruit Blossoms each time I wear it I get a mixture of what smells to me like raspberries and even a faint hint of grapes? I'm not trying to sound clever stating that it's just what it appears to be when I wear it but I could be completely wrong!
This has extremely good lasting power as applying it in the morning it is still very noticeable well into the late afternoon and at times I have still been able to smell it faintly right up to going to bed. It does come across as being strong but despite the cheap price it certainly doesn't reflect a cheap quality and actually smells quite refined and expensive.
I can't compare it to anything designer as to be honest it's not the sort of fragrance I normally opt for as I prefer musky oriental scents as a rule though as mentioned because of the price it was worth at least trying (and I'm glad I did).
I actually really like this and can't fault it. It's a cheap and cheerful fragrance that I have found suits my skin perfectly and is very versatile to wear meaning I have worn this on the school run as well as evenings out and it seems to adapt to each occasion. It also seems to be an easy to wear fragrance as it is ideal for the summery months but also because it has a warmth to it seems just as ideal for the cooler winter weather as well making it not only perfect but very economical as well.
I really like this as you may have guessed and suits my age range (35) and it's one of those fragrances that wouldn't be out of place being worn by a teenager or a lady much older.
