Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps - Eau de Toilette

Maria "Nina" Ricci and her son Robert in 1932 started their business in Paris. Nina Ricci designed
gowns while Robert arranged the company and the finances. Nina Ricci's designs were known as
romantic and very feminine. The most famous perfume of Nina Ricci is L'Air du Temps in 1949. It
contains the passion and elegance of that time.

      -**************************************************-

According to the brand it contains aromas of carnation, jasmine, gardenia, rose and sandalwood.
You'd think it should have a very floral smell, but the spicy sandalwood really dominates. You do
notice the scent of jasmine as well. It's totally does not smell sweet. Immediately after spraying I find
the smell too heavy, but after an hour it's great.

      -**************************************************-

Actually I have to describe the beautiful neatly bottle, it has an elegant appearance and especially
the cap is an eye-catcher with two doves on it. An elegant, graceful glass bottle I think is the right
description. The spray works very well and one spray is enough. The bottle has a capacity of 50ml.

      -**************************************************-

I had this gift for my birthday and I must admit that the taste of the giver is very well. It is a lovely
spicy fragrance that has a hint of jasmine at the same time. I think this fragrance is not age-
dependent and it suits both young and old. I like the smell and think after one hour it really comes
to it full advantage and the smell stays around six hours with you. It's a must for the upcoming
      holidays!

        A floral scent

There was a time when I was a great admirer of L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci, it was way back when my youthful perfume tastes were easily led by anything and everything that was in vogue. This fragrance was worn by many a confident young lady at the time and I wanted to join in and wear it too.

Things I liked abut L'air de Temps were of course the bottle which was very pretty and stood out due to the pair of almost see through plastic doves that flapped their way across and around the top of the perfume bottle. Having seen the bottle again more recently I feel those same flapping doves do look a little plasticy, yet they still retain some of the original charm that I saw in them.

        **********************************************************
The fragrance bottle that went with the ornate dove encrusted lid was a simple plain clear glass bottle. It had a rotund mid section and a slim foot with an equally slim rim around it to allow the bottle to stand upright safely. The spray applicator was easy enough to use and a quick push down on that once or twice was always enough to cover my pulse points with scent.

As I recall I used to find L'air du Temps a sweet yet slightly sour scent which was very feminine and light on my skin. The over riding thing with L'air du Temps to my mind was and still is sticky sweet flowers. It gave off a very sweet spring flower scent that had just a touch of a sour note that was tangy and made the fragrance more interesting to wear.

        *********************************************************
I feel that had the sour tangy note not been present the florals would have overwhelmed me and become sickly and over powering over the course of the day. I always felt that this was a day time fragrance, a spring time scent that was sweet and easy for most women to wear with ease. I used to wear Fidji by Guy Laroche at around the same time and of the 2, L'air du Temps was the one with the greater longevity to it.

Within L'air du Temps are a combination of rose, jasmine, gardenia and carnation, with the carnation being something that I could smell as it had a scent that felt sticky and slightly clingy when worn on my skin. I feel the sweet sticky carnation scent when mixed with jasmine was most of what I could smell when I wore the fragrance.

        *********************************************************
Nina Ricci class L'air du Temps as a floral spicy fragrance and say it 'exudes a mysterious power of seduction. Its fragrance blends into the personality of each woman to bring out her sensual charm and refinement'. I do tend to agree that it can smell a little different on different people, as I never thought it was a nice on me as it was on others.

I wouldn't much agree with it being a sensual fragrance as it was too flowery with that sour note that seemed to hang about for too long when I wore it. However I do feel that it is an interesting scent that does have plenty going for it. You can still purchase a small 30ml bottle of this scent for £19.50 which I feel is not too bad at all. As for rating L'ar du Temps I feel I wouldn't be as keen to buy it now as I was in days gone by and as such I feel it is only worthy of 3 stars.

          Myfavourite!

I was given this perfume as a present and at first was disappointed as I am usually a fan of more 'sexy' perfumes such as chanel. This perfume seems to have gained a reputation as an 'old lady' perfume, but it has soon become my favourite, and I'm in my 20s. I find that it is a perfume that smells much better when on the skin than it does out of the bottle.
It is fresh and perfect to wear all day, and the scent does last for the entire day, but without being overpowering. I have got several compliments on the perfume, and then when I have told people what it is they are often surprised.
Another excellent point about it is the price, it's cheap enough to wear very day without feeling guilty as it is only around £20 per bottle. The bottle is also a beautiful shape and looks lovely on a dressing table.

a light & fresh fragrance by Nina Ricci

I love expensive perfumes and over the years have managed to acquire a good selection having been bought them for Christmas and birthdays by generous family members.

I quite often remember people by the smell of their perfume or aftershave and, although Dior and Chanel definately have their place, this eau de toilette by Nina Ricci is my all-time favourite!

The packaging is quite striking as it is yellow and white with birds on it.

The size I like is 50ml/1.7 oz - and the cost is around £20 - but DO check the 'cut-price' shops like Quality Save where they often have it on promotion?

Nina Ricci designed this fragrance in 1948 and ii has been described as suitable for evening wear but personally I think it's great to wear daytime as well because it is so fresh.

The spray is easy to use and you can use just the minimum spray - I've found that sometimes with Dior it 'quirts' and I end up smelling like Boots perfume Department!

The tones in Nina Ricci's L'air du Temps are as follows -
            Bergamot
            gardenia
            carnation
            jasmine
            rose vetiver

don't let this list put you off - it sounds like an old ladies' fragrance, BUT I would say it was suitable for teens up to great, great grandmas!!

I had a little left in a bottle when I had to go into hospital so threw it in my bag at the last minute - SO pleased I did as loads of people commented on the lovely perfume.
