Ok I have azzaro chrome on one wrist and nina ricci memoire d'homme on the other now. I like to make a good clear review of what my fragrances smell like and had a quick spray to make sure what the fragrance smells like from fresh.
The memoire d'homme bottle is heavy, very heavy. It looks like 2 tall off centre rectangles put back together. The edges of one rectangle overlaps the other. I think the bottle is different and the smokey brown glass matches the fragrance aroma I get when I wear memoire d'homme.
I think the bottle is a good shape and it stands up well. The bottle on mine has no lid and I don't think I got one with it. The spray bit can be moved about and in theory I think thats to open and close the spray.
I have a lot of trouble with this bit of the spray bit. I have used it now and again it has jammed on me. I think it is a fault with the design. I have to take the silver oval off and then release the spray mechanism to get it working again.
I end up with a small dribble of fragrance all in one area and that is not good. I don't like that bit of the design and I think it would be better if it worked properly. It gets a pain to keep sorting it out.
The fragrance when I put it on at first is fresh, very spicy and has an alcohol smell in a sharp way for a few minutes. When that goes what I can detect from memoire d'homme is a masculine aroma that is heavy and dark smelling with spices in it. I think it has a smokey aroma for a few minutes that is strange but works.
There is lemon and ginger here that makes the sharp spiced smell when I put this on. The alcohol smell hits you and can make your eyes sting if you get it near them by mistake. I know as I did that now and it was not good.
I know liqourice leaves, amber and myrhh are in the fragrance and I like how they work . I think they give a kind of leather and tobacco smell a bit like old chesterfield sofas or a gentlemans club kinda thing. Its very good and when you get used to it it will grow on you.
If you don't like dark oriental smells then you won't get along with memoire d'homme. If you do then give it a go the aroma is one that changes a lot and I like that. I think a more confident mature man will like this one. It is one you will either like a lot or not like at all.
I would recommend it and it lasts for hours when its on. The smell is not soft when it goes on but give it chance and it will improve and become a good aroma. I think its a good fragrance that is different and I like it. It cost me £14 for 100mls and I have had it about 2 years and have a a third of the bottle left.
