Advantages: Smells beautiful

Disadvantages: Does not last long

I have liked Nina Ricci perfumes since I smelled the original a few years ago. Nina L'Elixir was launched in 2010 and I received my bottle for Christmas. The perfume is very similar to all the Nine Ricci perfumes but it has a more grown up feel than the sparkly apple scents that she is so well known for.  Nina L'Elixir is suitable for all women but is quite heavy as the middle notes develop so if you prefer a lighter perfume this one might not be one you enjoy as much as other fruit based fragrances.

The perfume doesn't last for very long and this is the thing that stops me wearing it very often, I have to reapply after about four hours and because I have the 80ml version that comes in a very bulky bottle it means I can't easily carry it around in my handbag. When I first spray it L'Elixir has got quite a weak scent but once the top notes start to change it gets stronger before fading away a few minutes after the base notes come through.  I would not wear it for a night out because of the short time it lasts but it's a nice fragrance for visiting a restaurant or to wear during the day.

TOP NOTES

Amalfi Lemon, Jasmine, Red Fruits, Apple

I cannot smell lemon in Nina L'Elixir at all but there is a citrus period mixed in with the red fruits and apple so that must be in, the apple is crisp but this perfume lacks the freshness of other Nina Ricci apple based perfumes. There is a hint of jasmine but it's very weak and doesn't last long enough in the scent for it to be able to work with the other notes.

MIDDLE NOTES

Lime Caipirinha, Red Berries

There's lime in the perfume but I think this comes through with the top notes instead of during the middle. The main fragrance at the heart of the Nina L'Elixir is the red berries but they have been mixed with an unidentifiable floral fragrance that bursts out of nowhere and changes the perfume. The middle notes are very heavy and last for the longest period of times out of all the perfume changes.

BASE NOTES

Cotton Musk

The end of Nina L'Elixir is very musky and reminds me of the White Musk perfume I used to use from The Body Shop, it's not very strong and doesn't last for long but while it is there it gives the perfume a very sexy fragrance and makes it good for a romantic meal or a date night.

4 Dooyoo Stars.
