Oriflame Cosmetics is a cosmetics group, founded in 1967 in Sweden by two brothers. The company sells skin care, cosmetic products and other related products through an independent sales force of over 3 million people. Oriflame products are sold exclusively through independent consultants, and you can often find consultants selling through eBay if you have no local representative. This perfume is part of a range of fragrances including Sun, Moon and Eclipse. It is available in a 30ml bottle costing £8.95.
Oriflame say this is "Inspired by the startling contrast between sunshine and moonlight, this fragrance enchants with verdant herbal notes laced with hints of orange and melon, enfolded in a floral aquatic heart and iridescent musk."
The perfume comes in a clear glass bottle with a rounded circular body, and has an opaque plastic lid. The perfume itself is also clear, and it's easy to see how much you have left within the bottle. The bottle is very plain, uninteresting and cheap looking, which is a shame as designers usually take a lot of care over creating something beautiful that you would be proud to display on your dressing table. The box that it comes in is more attractive, featuring the image of a solar eclipse with a purple nebula floating in the background.
To begin with I didn't like the scent very much at all, it seemed too light and innocent, and more girly than something I would usually go for. However, within about 20-30 minutes of being on my skin the scent had totally transformed. It lost the overwhelmingly bright fresh smell that it had initially and became fuller and more rounded as it reacted to the warmth of my pulse points. The scent deepens and the musk becomes more noticeable, making it more rich and mysterious. It still has the herbal and fruity notes but they become more balanced and the overall scent tones down as the perfume synchronises with your body.
It didn't really do anything to uplift my mood but the scent is comforting and it started to grow on me more and more. This is not strong enough to be a signature scent, and I only wear it during the daytime, it's nice for casual everyday use. A couple of sprays do the job to create a light and subtle scent on your skin, and it has good staying power, lasting for hours after application.
It would suit anyone who likes simple pleasures. I would recommend this perfume as a gift for female relatives or friends, but it is certainly not the sort of thing I would expect to receive from a lover. Good for down to earth, easy-going types and occasions where you want to wear a pleasant perfume without demanding attention.
