Oscar de La Renta Eau de Toilette
Advantages: nice warming floral scent, long lasting, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: not my favourite
I received this Oscar de la Renta Oscar perfume as a miniature in a miniatures gift set a while back.
The fragrance was first released back in 1977.
~ Price and availability ~
You can currently buy Oscar by Oscar de la Renta in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles of eau de toilette.
The 30ml bottle is available from www.fragrancedirect.co.uk for £18.99 (recommended retail price £34.00).
The 50ml bottle is available from www.fragrancedirect.co.uk for £20.99 (RRP £49.00).
The 100ml bottle is available from www.fragrancemad.com for £35.95 (RRP £63.50).
The bottle is made from glass and is almost flower shaped. The sides of the bottle are curved a bit like a flowers petals, but the shape of the bottle is not symmetrical.
~ Scent ~
The perfume has top notes of orange blossom, basil, coriander, galbanum, peach and gardenia.
The middle notes are ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose, rose, rosemary, cyclamen, lavender and orchid.
The base notes are opoponax, carnation, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver and amber.
The list of notes is rather long and would not have appealed to me, had I read it before trying the perfume.
To me, the scent is not very complex compared to what you'd expect from the list of notes. It is very floral, but I struggle to pick out any individual notes, although I can detect the amber in it.
It is a rather powdery scent. It is inoffensive, with no harshness or sharpness.
I like the scent. It is soft, warming and sophisticated, but I feel like I have used similar scents in the past and I don't think it is particularly original.
I find that this perfume is quite subtle, but I have found it to be long lasting. It is still evident after an 8 hour day.
I personally think that this perfume would appeal to more mature women as it is floral, sensual and sophisticated.
~ Conclusion ~
I like this scent. It is a pleasant, subtle powdery floral scent, which is inoffensive and long lasting.
I would not consider it one of my favourite perfumes and to be honest I will probably never get around to buying myself a full size bottle, but I would be happy to receive it as a gift.
I would recommend this perfume as a nice powdery floral, but it isn't my favourite perfume.
