XS Pour Homme is a great fresh fragrance that was launched by Paco Rabane back in 1993. I have personally been using the fragrance for about 10 years, and it is a particular favourite present for me from my mum, who craftily realised that this fragrance is very cheap in price compared o the likes of Boss, diesel, dkny etc (although I don't think she knows that I know this!). ~~~ The Packaging ~~~ XS comes in a fairly standard looking bottle, made from clear glass that is rounded at the edges, and has a few vertical ridges along the front and back of the bottle. It is quite a tall bottle, but slim at the same time, giving it a sleek and modern look about it. As the glass is clear, it is easy to see the contents within the bottle, which is useful to see how much of the pale golden coloured liquid is left in the bottle. The lid is a bright silver colour, and instead of it just being a simple pull off type, it is a flip style lid, which works very well, as you do not have to worry about putting the lid down and losing it because it is constantly attached to the bottle. Once the lid has been flipped open, a nice silver spray mechanism is revealed, and this is used to release the fragrance. ~~~ The Scent ~~~ The fragrance itself is a nice light and fresh smell, which is quite woody, making the fragrance feel somewhat masculine. It has top notes of mint, coriander and watermelon, and has middle notes of citrus, geranium and cedar. The base notes are a combination of sage, oak moss and musk, which all adds up to quite a random mixture! The result is decent though, as it is very suitable for young or older males, meaning it is a very versatile fragrance which is ideal for any occasion during both the daytime or the night-time. I would say that this is quite a strong smelling fragrance, and as such only a couple of squirts on the spray mechanism are required. Unfortunately though if XS does have a downside it is that the staying power of the fragrance is not very spectacular, and I struggle to smell it after I have worn it for a just few hours. ~~~ Price and Availability ~~~ Paco Rabane XS Pour Homme is available in both aftershave form and Eau de Toilette spray, and it comes in either 30 ml or 100 ml sized bottles. As I mentioned at the top of this review, it is a very reasonably priced fragrance (which my mum soon noticed!). A 30 ml bottle of EDT will generally cost around £10 - £12, with the 100 ml EDT bottle offering even better value at approximately £25, which will last a long time for the small amount that is required each time, although if you want this scent to last all day, you would need to keep applying it every few hours in my experience. ==Paco Rabanne XS For Men== I have to say that this is a gift I have been buying Himself for a good few Birthdays and Christmas's and he is never disappointed. We started off buying this regular XS as that was released first but once Himself and I got a sniff of the black version we both really liked it and it has been his favourite aftershave ever since. He alternates between buying the EDT and the perfume and of course this is also dependant on what he has been given for gift. The aftershave is a far stronger smell and in my opinion lasts longer on the skin but this does come at a price and is generally more expensive than buying the EDT. Himself has the EDT at the moment and it is the larger 100 ml bottle. This is what I bought for him on his birthday in May of this year so it is still going strong and there is still a lot left these 6 months later. The bottle cost me £40 which I thought to be a fairly good price. I was planning to buy the Black XS version but I couldn't find it in any of the shops. The bottle which the XS comes in is really rather plain but does the job. It has a clear glass bottle which is good at allowing you to see how much of the after have there is left (unlike the Black version which has a black bottle and it is really difficult to see if you are running out of not). The lid to the XS is a silver flip lid and you can pull it up and over the reveal the spray where yo the after shave comes from. With one or two sprays of the EDT I find this is more than enough to give a great smell and good coverage. Himself doesn't always agree and will often go for the more is better approach. I have tried to tell him that this isn't the case and that this particular EDT is rather stronger and more potent than his others but will he listen? So the smell of the aftershave is one of my favourites and in my opinion smells really very manly. It has a rich woody type aroma at the forefront of the smell but there is also a floral type of whiff which is given off but still maintaining that manly aroma. With hints of mint and Juniper berry this fragrance seems really very different from a lot of other men's EDT that we have tried and I must say I really rather like it. The cedar wood is one of the more noticeable base notes and the smell which I find clings on to the skin to the bitter end. All in all I find this is one of the better men's EDT's that you can buy and would make a fabulous Christmas present. It is a long lasting, strong smelling spray which is easy to use and above all else smells divine. The lovely man scent really makes me go all weak at the knees! I have to give this Paco Rabanne XS a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and a very high recommendation. I think I will be getting the black version for Himself at Christmas but this is a must buy for next years Birthday! Many thanks for taking the time to read. I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Paco Rabanne Pour Homme Paco Rabanne Pour Homme is from the brand Paco Rabanne. I got to know this product, because I got this one as a gift and felt in love with it! It's one of my favourites and I bought this one again the other day. It's a really manly scent, but also a fresh one that stays with you throughout the day. Paco Rabanne didn't really sound familiar, but apparently it belongs to a great fashion designer. He's in the same league as Dolce & Gabbana, only not as famous. He's from Spain and since 1966 got his own brand with products like clothes and accessories. When I saw The bottle of the Paco Rabanne Pour Homme I thought it looked very good. It's very light and fresh. The bottle is very clear and transparent so you can see the yellow like liquid in the bottle. The cap is silver which give it more a classic finished look. On the front you will find the XS logo. What I like is that the cap flips open to uncover the spray. I thought it had a nice touch. I think the smell is really good and the First think that comes to my mind is that it smells very masculine. At first I didn't like the smell that much and had to get used to it but now I really like it. You notice a few various wood extracts in the smell but also coriander. It really creates a more sensual scent and even a bit sexual. The smell is really delicious. This combination of scents is highly recommended. I think this scent is highly recommended. He is not too strong or too light. The fragrance is a very special mix of scents that I believe almost never are brought together. The only downside is that the smell doesn't stay with you that long.. A very big plus is the bottle again. It looks great and has a very stylish and luxurious look. I therefore recommend this product but because it doesn't stay with you that long, it's four stars.
I purchased Paco Rabanne XS for my partner quite sometime ago, and to be honest, he's never really used this but I can see why. I purchased this from Boots for around £30 for a 50ml eau de toilette. I thought I was doing the right thing, choosing a classic grown up scent, but boy did I get it wrong. I love the bottle, clear heavy glass with the XS logo emblazoned on the front. It has a nice silver flip style top which encloses the spray nozzle. Very stylish and sleek looking. The scent is so overpowering and a tad over the top, with a dash of old fashioned thrown right in there. What was I thinking, my partner's only 28, and I feel, after sampling this that it is more suited to your Dad or Grandad. While it is too mature for the younger set, it is perfect for a more distinguised and cultured gentleman. It reminds me of a rather harsh soap. It also brings to mind business men in suits, it has that type of air to the fragrance. This fragrance is a woody floral and opens with top notes of rosemary, orange, tarragon, mint, bergamot and lemon. The lemon and bergamot are quite zesty and fresh, but the tarragon and rosemary lend a slightly herby overtone. The heart notes consist of corriander, which I dislike, along with juniper, sage, geranium and rosewood. I do perfer the top notes as they are a bit more zingy, the mid notes are quite strong and maintain the overpowering tones. Once this has dried down you will notice the slightly hippy notes of patchouli and sandalwood. These are combined with more wearable notes of amber, musk and vanilla, althoug they are slightly lost, you can just detect them ever so slightly. I think that anyone wearing this fragrance would have to apply it sparing as it really is very powerful and intense. It would definitely drown out any perfume that your partner would be wearing. It is that strong and heady that it gives me a bit of a headache if I smell it for any lenght of time. Would I recommend this fragrance? Well for my partner I would have to say its a no. However, I do think it would be great as a gift for a Father or Grandfather as it does have a more grown up feel to the scent overall.
You may have read my last review which was on Calvin Klein Crave which I raved about. And well this review is on another fine fragrance, this time by Paco Rabanne. The fragrance is XS Pour Homme. Going with a stronger fragrance here. This fragrance entered the market in 1993 which is quite a while ago in the field. XS Pour Homme comes in a nice bottle which is taller than most eau de toilette or after shave bottles and it has the letters XS above Apres Rasage which is french for after shave. I first came across this fragrance when I tried it from someone I know. I have to say that I was at first a bit taken back by the strength of this after shave. It is a strong smelling fragrance which is certainly by far the strongest fragrance I have owned. Once you have the bottle out of the XS box you flip the cap and then apply the fragrance. I have the 100ml version but you can also get this fragrance in smaller sizes if you so wish. This 100ml bottle comes in at around £35 which is reaching at the higher end of the market but you will be able to find some great deals around on the internet and also in places like Boots who have a sale on at the moment. But you can also buy a 50ml bottle for around £20. I mentioned earlier in this review that this fragrance is strong but it also has it's lighter tones too. It starts with a herby aroma and then eventually settles down into a much softer more fruity fragrance with hints of Patchouli, Cedar, Sandalwood and Vanilla. This is a very fine fragrance that I'm sure will appeal to a wide range of men due to the versatility of the fragrance and the way it changes and settles down. Good for going out at night and also fine for casual days and work. When this bottle runs out I will get a different fragrance but I probably will still buy another bottle of this sometime.
