Paris Hilton Fairy Dust Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Great Smell, More Grown Up Than Her Other Perfumes, Cute Bottle
Disadvantages: Staying Power - Or Rather Lack Of It
Really the Dooyoo points change couldnt have come at a better time for me especially fragrance wise. My friend has recently started working in one of the perfume shops in town and she has started getting absolutely loads of free samples from work - she has been given them not stolen them LOL. And because she gets so many she has been passing a lot on to me especially the ones which Ive dropped not so subtle hints about such as this one "Paris Hilton - Fairy Dust" she gave me a tiny sample bottle of this last week and I started using it straight away - and have been ever since so I thought Id try reviewing it today. I am a big fan of Paris Hilton's perfumes as Ive been wearing the very first one she made (can think of the name how bad is that!) for years now and even though I dont like her particularly her perfumes always smell great so dont judge a perfume by its "celebrity" endorser LOL.
As I mentioned I only have a little sample bottle of this so I dont actually own the proper bottle but Ill try to comment on it and describe it as much as I can. This bottle design seems to be a little more grown up than her previous designs and even though I thought that this was originally aimed at teenagers I could be totally wrong because this bottle seems much classier and grown up. The bottle is more or less transparent and reminds me of a frosted window - the little fairy engraving on the front is super cute and very feminine. Im going back to actually buy a full bottle of this perfume soon and I think this bottle will make a great addition to my dressing table and the same goes for women of all ages. A bit more grown up but with a girly side.
Now I am always at a loss when it comes to describing the smell of perfumes to me they are either nice or not but I think Im going to need a little more detail than that LOL. Now at first I did expect this to smell a lot like other offerings from Paris:really sweet, fruity and girly but that is like the total opposite of this one. When you first spray it you do get a really sweet almost peachy scent which I will say can be quite overpowering but that very quickly dies down into a really floral fragrance. Ive done a little research online and found that the notes in this perfume are actually: Pink Peony, Orange Blossom, Vanilla Cream, Cashmere Musk & Water Lily amongst others and now Ive read that and gone back to smelling the perfume I think the main scents have to be the peony, vanilla and musk. I think the vanilla gives it the really subtle sweet edge and the floral notes match the musk so well - the scents are all very balanced rather than there being one really strong one but I think all the different fragrances have been chosen really well and they compliment each other perfectly rather than overpowering one another.
This definitely doesnt smell like any of Paris perfume that Ive ever tried and just like I said about the bottle I like this perfume is a little more grown up and you can see how the different perfumes have evolved if you have used others from her range. Her older fragrances are definitely aimed more for younger people whereas this one although it is slightly heavier and musky I think will appeal to women of all ages. My moms tried this one out and she really loves it but she actually agrees with me (for once!) that although this is quite a heavy scent it is more suited to daytime wear because once this has sunk into your skin a bit the scent becomes a lot lighter.
The only problem I do have with this perfume and every other one of Paris' offerings is that they dont stay on your skin for very long at all. Id say three hours at the most which means your going to be reapplying a lot and in turn means a bottle wont last all that long. I am a smoker though so the scent of cigarettes may be overpowering the perfume so Id suggest making your own minds up on that one but for me they staying power isnt great. As I said though Im definitely going to treat myself to a real bottle of this soon because it is a great scent, really cute bottle and more grown up than her other scents. One for all ages I think so I do fully recommend it.
Paris Hilton perfumes are available pretty much everywhere I usually get mine from Bodycare because they sell them quite cheaply but Boots, Superdrug, The Perfume Shop & The Fragrance Shop are a few others that spring to mind that will also sell this.
