Advantages: strong and manly!

Disadvantages: not very versitile

I was given this aftershave as a gift.... Well to be honest my friends wife bought it for him and he didnt like it so it ended up on my door. I like it in all honesty, despite my friends resevations.

He only enjoys fragrances that are light and fresh. This Paul Smith is much more masculine - dark and musty. reading that back it sounds like an insult, but those are the words that come to mind for me. My wife describes it as a very rich smell, and I can see what she means, almost spiced.

I have often found that an untrained nose like mine ends up with me soundling like an idiot when I try and explain the smell of something as complex as this. and after reading some of the other reviews i feel more than a little out my depth as the way that they describe the smell is far beyond me. The notes that they are picking up are things I have never even smelled before!

This is definatly an evening smell, or to be worn in the board room. it has the smell of authority, where a light fresh aftershave smells more like someone who wants to be your friend.

I love this aftershave but it is not versitle. There are some occassions where it would work very well, and some where it would not. Aftershaves are like clothes - some suit different occassions. Think of it like wearing a dinner suit, it just doesnt work on a scuba diving trip...

Summary: good smell, and thats what counts
