Advantages: Sweet, floral scent, gorgeous packaging, 'young' girly feel

Disadvantages: Lacks stylish sophistication of many other scents, not long-lasting, not economical

Paul Smith Floral for Women comes from the iconic Brit designer's detour into perfume for both men and women, which includes a number of well-loved fragrances. Floral comes in a range of Eau de Toilette sizes and prices (from around £22 for 30ml).

I first bought this perfume in the summer and I have to say, Floral is definitely a sweet-scented spring/summer fragrance.

Presented in a gorgeous snow-white metal tube tin with an eclectic, colourful, psychedelic 70s design (think Alan Aldridge illustrations for design-junkies!), the perfume comes in a similarly sweet curved white lacquered bottle with pretty pink and yellow vaporiser collar and is described as a ode to the era's creative, loving 'Flower Power' spirit. This petite bottle fits easily into a handbag and does not have a heavy, weighty feel.

The scent is absolutely beautiful - a lively, summery feminine scent with orange and pink grapefruit citrus notes and an abundant orchid, white flower and blossom fragrance. The perfume is utterly girly and fresh - probably best suiting teenagers and women in the 20-30 years bracket due to the sweet, sugary (and bordering on unsophisticated) scent. The scent is perfect for wearing during the day, being light and floral with a comfortable, casual feel.

Paul Smith Floral is a gorgeous scent, but it does lack staying power (perhaps unsurprising with an EDT but something I have also found with an Eau de Perfum version also), with the perfume smell wearing off within a couple of hours and having to be reapplied intermittently during the day. As a result, I've found that my perfume has not been very economical - running out within a couple of months which was very disappointing.

All in all, this is a beautiful, young, vibrant floral scent - glamorous in appearance and with a fun-loving, charming sweet fragrance but without the staying power you might expect for the price-tag and brand name.

Summary: A floral scent of white flowers, citrus and amber musk - but with a lack of staying power.
