Advantages: Young, fresh scent. Modern design and style.

Disadvantages: may not be ideal for an older gentleman.

There are a lot of very different and eyecatching designs of bottle when it comes to fragrances. Whether it be a masculine or feminine scent it goes without saying that you will find such a vast array of vibrant colours and odd bottle shapes. I also believe that the bottle and the overall branding of a fragrance determines the demographic of its end user, and this was exactly my thoughts when I bought the Paul Smith 'Man 2' Eau De Toilette spray. The scent comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles and the black background of the bottle contrasts well with the bright yellow '2' and 'Man' and the 'Paul Smith' on the bottle is written in white. The bottle and packaging overall is very much aimed at a younger demographic in my opinion, and when it came to the scent I expected it to suit my needs as I am a '20something' man.

The Paul Smith 'Man 2' Eau De Toilette spray did not disappoint me whatsoever. The scent is very modern, and certainly aimed at the younger market. Paul Smith is an upmarket brand, and 'Man 2' doesn't fail to live upto expectations. The first thing I noticed about the fragrance was the woody scent hitting my senses. The scent is very fresh on your nose as it is quite fruity. The notes on the packaging suggest that these is grapefruit, mandarin, granny smith apple and cardamom in there, and although I cannot say i can pick out each one of these, I can confirm these is a defining fruity kick to it. The base notes are cedarwood, sandalwood, tonka bean and white musks, and my impression the fragrance is woody at first gives substance to the notes on the packaging. Obviously with the scent being aimed at the younger man I would say it is perfect for a night out, but would definitely fit in with more sophisticated backgrounds aswell.

The bottle is very basic in design, but the graphics on it are very modern and give a good reflection of what is in the fragrance. The 30ml bottle costs £16.95, 50ml is £23.95 and the 100ml is £33.95. All prices are from the CheapSmells website but there are bargains to be had if you shop around. An ideal present for modern man!

Summary: a bright and colourful fragrance for modern man!
