Fragrance is a very personal thing to people. What one person likes, another may hate. Some people like something soft and delicate, others want something loud, full and strong. Im one of those people who dont normally like the typical feminine type fragrance, which I always link to something that smells very flowery and summery.I normally like quite heady, full bodied warm fragrances that are either quite sweet with maybe Vanilla being an ingredient, or something with a slight masculine kick to it. Either way, I like to wear something most of the time, that isnt the normal smell you recognise and not neccesarily well known. I like someone to say to me' Oh, you smell nice. What is your perfume? ', not ' oh, that CK fagrance is nice, I got that at home ! '. This particular fragrance fits the bill perfectly for me.
Who is Philosophy
Philosophy is an American brand that was founded in 1996 by a woman called Cristina Carlino. Cristina has over 30 years experience in the field of beauty and cosmetics and with the help of this experience she launched Philosophy to make the gap smaller between products in doctors office and retail, and allow everyday people the opportunity to use top end products.
Philosophy started with skincare, such as Purity cleanser, Hope in a Jar mosituriser and then moved onto body products such as there 3 in 1 bath, shower and body gels and this followed with fragrance and cosmetics.
How is this packaged?
The bottle of fragrance I have came in a gift set with co ordinating shower gel, so I cant recall if it was boxed as it wasnt full size. But what I love about their packaging in general is theres normally some form of story, ' philosophy ' on the box itself which sums up the product perfectly. They never fail in regards to packaging and its obvious they put alot of time and energy into it. No one, whether the gift is for a birthday, Mothers Day, Christmas, would be disappointed with their gift ( and thats before its even opened! ).
The bottle the fragrance comes in itself is simple plain clear glass with a spray dispenser and lid. The label is plan and basic, but I wouldnt call it boring but clean and would fit into any bathroom or bedroom shelf. The label on the front and back is normally a different colour for each fragrance, as Philosophy do quite afew now. Falling in love is a very pale light blue. The label on the front just gives you the name of the fragrance and the size of bottle but on the back a fantastic description of the fragrance.
How does it smell?
When I first smelt this it reminded me of being a teenager and spending my pocket money on The Body Shop fragrance oils. I had a thing about Vanilla, and at the time I think the other one was blueberry/blackcurrant. Cant remember exactly what it was or what it was called, but it was very fruity and berry like. This to me has that same sort of smell but very sophisticated and grown up. It actually has a mixture of vanilla, blackcurrant and jasmine, so a complete treat to the nostrils. A fragrance that for me I could wear all the time, but probably more night time than day. All Philosophy fragrances for me have been long lasting on the skin. Not strong and overpowering but even after time as it fades, it leaves a gentle veil of a sweet smell that isnt obvious. When I wear this I always get asked what I am wearing.
Its great that their fragrances have co ordinating shower gels, scrubs, body lotions and handwashes now.
Is this easy to find?
Alot more so these days. My first port of call tends to be QVC as they often have good value kits put together. I believe its also available on the high street such as Boots, Debenhams etc.
The price for the standard 60ml is £32.00.
Would I buy again?
Without a doubt. This is a fragrance that is warm, fresh, fruity, grown up but with a sense of fun to it. Any age can wear this.
