“ Brand: Philosophy / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Parfum / Gender: for women „
I first discovered this brand, as most brands I have found, on QVC. I always watched their programmes with interest, but never bought anything. I had been to New York on afew holidays and found myself al.ways sniffing around a store called Sephora, this is like a mini department store that sells hair and beauty products from Decleor, Bare Minerals, Ojon etc. So on one occasion I purchased some of their body products ad fragrances, including this one, as when I worked out the exchange rate it worked out cheaper to buy over there.
What I found with this fragrance was how unusual it was-very clean, with a slight sweetness to it. Not one of those perfumes you would immediately feel was feminine. To be honest, it literally is what it says on the bottle which is ' pure grace is theclean smell of soap and water ', but not in an obvious way as the smell is much more complex than that.
I found that this is a fragrance that lasted on my skin very well and on clothing, so did not have to keep reapplying ( although I always do! ).Its not overpowering and is one of those fragrances, which I get alot from when I wear a Philosophy scent, is I get comments. I am always asked what I am wearing as its not typical.
If you want something fresh,modern but quite something that I personally do not feel would date and not the typical floral smell, this could be for you.I love it, and the fact you have other body products with the same scent means you can layer, but even without the matching products you can still layer with other scents such as Amazing Grace. Philospohy is one of those brands now which you can pretty much get on the high street etc Boots, Debenhams. I much prefered it when it was my little secret and less readily available-but at least its easy to get your hands on.
My suggestion would be to order from QVC when they have a Todays Special Value, as they tend to be more or less half price, there normally is quite afew products and most are full if not supersize, and you would normally get a choice of fragrance if its a kit that concentrates on body and fragrance. Worst case scenrio if it is not for you, you can send it back!But more importantly, it is one of those smells I think you need to use for afew days to really appreciate it and get used to not smelling like everyone else! Lovely product!
I got a bottle of this for my Christmas. It is the first Perfume I have tried from Philosophy, but the person that bought it for me knew that I liked their Toiletries so they thought it would be the ideal Perfume for me.
To look at the box and bottle it looks quite simple and plain. Nothing that special but I find that this brand is a bit like The Body Shop and you can see the branding and should know it is that bit more expensive without the packing being fancy and over the top. The bottle is just like the Dooyoo picture - a plain square glass bottle. The glass is quite thick and the writing on the front is quite large and simple as well. The lid is a nice shiny silver one. So, yes it's simple but it is nice as well.
The important part - how does this smell? It is lovely. I don't think there is many notes in here and it's just a simple clean scent. I have looked online and people have described this as a Baby kind of scent, which is a bit true. This just smells fresh and airy, like a light breeze of wind on a slightly cold day.
This lasts a good lenght of time and although it is a lot fainter after hours you can still smell it a bit.
I had to look online for a price for this and see it costs around £30 for the 60ml bottle, so that bit more expensive than other brands but worth it.
A really nice Perfume and once my Perfume supply has got down a bit I will look for more Philosophy Perfumes out there.
I have written a few reviews on Philosophy products as I love the Philosophy behind them (Pardon the pun!) and each product I have tried has always worked for me and their products are a staple of my Beauty and skin care routine.
I had not until recently tried there perfumes but I was lucky enough to receive their perfume Pure Grace as a gift and I was hooked.
Philosophy is a brand that has been going for good while now and their products are based on using very simple and pure ingredients.
Their aim is to simplify beauty and skin care and make it easy and accessible for everyone.
I have gone into greater detail about the Philosophy behind Philosophy on other review so have just condensed it here.
===== Packaging ====
The shape and design of the bottle is very classical and in keeping with their brand very simple.
It is a plain and clear glass bottle with a long silver lift off lid that reveals the pump spray.
The front of the bottle has a white label and the words Pure Grace written in black.
The back of the bottle has a white label on that contains the following feel good message.
"Philosophy's pure grace is the clean smell of soap and water, the memory of fresh air woven into a set of crisp white cotton sheets, the one white t-shirt that feels better than all the rest."
This is usual from Philosophy as most of their products have some kind of feel good message.
===== The Scent ====
The scent is unlike anything that I have ever used before. The very first thing that I noticed when I sprayed it was that I was taken back to my childhood and in particular my Grandparents home where I spend many a happy time, it was that freshly washed clean smell mixed with the smell of newborn babies, It also has a slight undertone of musk which gives it a stronger fragrance and is what I would describe as a very clean scent.
The scent is very strong when first applied but then after a few minutes it develops into something more subtle. I love the fact that I can actually smell the perfume on myself.
If you are looking for a strong sexy or heavy fragrance then this is perhaps not the one for you but as a day time perfume it is hard to beat.
It also lasts all day and I can usually still smell it the next day on myself.
=====My Overall Opinion =====
I think that this is a beautiful scent and I wear it everyday and although I am used to the scent I can still smell it on myself.
When ever I wear it I am always asked what it is and have received many compliments on it and I think that that is because it is an unusual scent and is quite unlike any other out there.
I also think that while fragrances you have worn before can evoke memories the fact that this did that the first time I used it makes it a very comforting perfume to use and it makes me feel lovely as soon as I put it on and is like getting a hug from your best friend.
===== Other Grace Perfumes ====
===== Price and Availability =====
It is available in larger departments stores like Selfridges and Is sold often on QVC where the usual have sets with a few different products in on special offer.
The price for the 59.2ml is approx £29.00 ( This is the current QVC price )
This scent is just beautiful! It is a very delicate, clean, comforting fragrance - not an overpowering perfume like others you will find on the high street. Although the scent is not overly strong, it lasts a long time on the skin and I still catch a whiff of it hours after i have sprayed it. The best way I can think to describe the scent is that it is similar to the smell off of your clean, outdoor-dried laundry only with a sweeter and more floral hint to it.
Whenever I wear it, I always get comments about how nice I smell and people are always asking what perfume I am wearing! Usually when I buy a perfume, I use half the bottle then get fed up with it and it lies in the bottom of a drawer somewhere - not this one! I have nearly finished the bottle and fully intend to buy it again before it's done as I can't bear to be without it!!
Although it is a tad expensive (£29.50 for 30ml from QVC) I would definately buy it again because it is so lovely and it is different to the regular high street bought perfumes everyone else wears.
This is my favourite perfume of all time, everytime I wear it I get comments and people are always asking me what it is.
Philosophy is an american brand that is only available at branches of Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Spacenk and on the internet at QVC and HQhair.
This is Philosophy's third fragrance in the Grace collection following on from Amazing Grace and Baby Grace and the recent Inner Grace. This fragrance smells of freshly washed sheets, it has a very clean and fresh scent. It is often described as soap and water, smelling as fresh as you did when you first stepped out of the shower. Pure Grace is not a heavy fragrance, it can easily be worn all day long and it has remarkable staying power as the fragrance will last all day long.
It contains bergamot, water lily and lavender surrounded by a hint of jasmine and laced with frosted musk.
The Pure Grace collection includes top to top fragrance layering starting with salt scrub, 3 in 1 shower gel, body lotion and body butter.
This is the eau de parfum which is stronger than an eau de toilette so it has even more staying power.
