Advantages: Strong aroma so lasts well
Disadvantages: Too strong if use more than squirt
1985 pefume- been around for nearly 25 years now so obviously popular, with a lovely, rich, sexy aroma not too powerful. If the looks of the packaging are important to you: the dark purple bottle with a lovely clear bauble type lid looks expensive and opulent inside an emerald green rectangular box.
I very much agree with other reviewers that this a love or hate fragrance, I'd go as far to say it's the marmite of the perfume world, with me firmly in the love it camp. It's not my favourite fragrance - that spot is reserved for Chanel No 5, but it's in my top 3 along with Dior, Code. Both of these other perfumes I have reviewed on here.
My journey with Poison began when a relative got me a set of 5 mini perfumes for xmas and this was one of them- I loved it and the next year was bought a whole bottle- that was 10 years ago and I get a bottle every year for xmas. I've just had a good look on the internet for you all and from what I can see Boots selling it at 50ml for £45 seems the cheapest option.
It is a very rich scent because of variety of ingredients - be warned you need only one squirt for it to stay on you throughout the night - and that's another point, I believe some perfumes are suited to day, others to night, and this fragrance is definately a night time aroma. It holds it own in busy bars and pubs without being overpowering. I find it rather sexy, I believe that's because of the amber and musk. Now I have sensitive skin, and never squirt perfume directly onto it. I always spritz it onto clothing instead. This scent does linger- but then any perfume does if it's well made and doing its job properly- I mention this as previous reviewers have seen this as a negative, to me it is just perfumes nature! I find if I spritz a decorative scarf with it, it will linger for a couple of wears. I find this with any perfume. A wash cycle and the smell is gone.
No-one has told me they dislike the fragrance on me, and the compliments I have had, and from what I've smelt for myself, the strongest 'notes' are musk and honey. The perfume describes itself as spicy, fruity with amber notes, and that it's an oriental perfume. The amber makes it sexy, the fruit keeps it light and the spicyness gives it a warmth and depth you want to keep sniffing.
Summary: Top 3 fragrance for me
