*~*~*Is Romance Dead?*~*~*
The original Romance was released to evoke a feeling of falling love and came to sale in 1998. A further fragrance was released in the Romance collection and was aptly named Romance Always Yours in 2008. Always Yours comes in the form of an Elixir Eau de Parfum and is described as being "vibrant, fresh, sensual and alluring". A body moisturiser can also be purchased allowing the wearing to layer up the fragrance on the skin.
The bottle containing Always Yours is elegant, classy and yet strangely simple. Its strong, rectangular shape offers sharp sides and edges and offers a confident design. A multi faceted lid comfortably sits on top of a silver spray head. The clear glass reflects the transparent and slightly tinted liquid inside.
Always Yours is considered a floral chypre fragrance and is blended with distinct fragrance notes. Many of the notes used in this scent are also present in the original Romance EDP.
*Top notes - Always Yours invites us to appreciate an initial floral blast of rose, freesia and ginger.
*Heart notes - the body of Always Yours is a delicate blend of lotus flower, violet and daylily.
*Base notes - finishing off the floral scent is a base of patchouli, musk and oak moss.

I have been wearing Ralph Lauren perfumes for many years and always settled on the original Ralph as it is young and vibrant. I don't know much about the brand itself except what I witnessed on Friends as Rachel worked for the man himself! I cannot afford their clothing but the perfumes are excellent value for month even for a premium brand..especially if picked up online!
Around 2 years ago, I received a gift set containing lots of mini bottles of Ralph Lauren perfumes. The original Romance was one of these perfumes and I really liked it but not enough to purchase a full size bottle. When I received a few sample vials of the Romance Always Yours EDP, I thought it must be a new scent and was surprised to discover it has been around for 2years now..just not readily available. My vials are sprayers and came carded in a gorgeous pink card packet which is feminine and I hoped the perfume would be too.
Always Yours took me by surprise from the very first spray. It opens up with a light yet effective aroma which offers a pleasant blend of florals with a spicy twist. The rose and freesia infuse together perfectly to create a fresh and delicate opening and the ginger adds something a bit extra. Its spiciness is apparent from the outset and gradually dries down to a sweet and almost woody like blend which is a perfect scent to contend with.
Within a few short moments, the heart of Always Yours sweeps in and takes full hold of my senses. I am offered a blossoming heart with a gentle aroma which lures you into a false sense of security as it isn't heavy or strong to begin with. Rather than coming at you full force, the heart takes an hour or two to fully develop and when it does, the lotus flower takes the lead with the violet edging in with a light sweetness. The heart of Always Yours remains detectable close to my skin for a mere 2 hours.
The base of Always Yours is a wonderful treat and inspiring to say the least. Despite the top notes and heart notes fading from the scent extremely quickly, the base more than makes up for the shortfall. It comes into play very quickly following the florals departing and is unusually the strongest set of notes within the overall fragrance.
The base is beautifully creamy and is deep and warming. It strength allows those nearest to me to appreciate the sweetness of a truly wonderful aroma. The base notes mentioned do not correspond to the scent I can detect on my skin. If I were hazarding a guess, I would say the base has been created using amber, musk and a tiny touch of natural vanilla for a deep sweetness that settles to be slightly powdery in scent and simply amazing. The base is apparent on my skin at a reasonable depth for around 4hours which brings the overall wear to around 6hours..not ideal for an EDP.
I feel Always Yours is a modern scent which would suit any age group. It is quite light and fresh to start with which would be ideal for day wear and it could be build upon using the body moisturiser to allow it to last longer on the skin.
*~*~*Conclusion and Recommendation*~*~*
I really like Romance Always Yours and mainly due to the unusual aspect of the base notes coming through so quickly and at a high concentration. The floral aroma was pleasant but the depth and sweetness of the base is what attracted me the most though I know not everyone will appreciate this. I love the design of the full size bottle despite its simplistic nature. The only thing losing my attention is the price as for the length of time on the skin, the cost is expensive.
Overall I recommend this fragrance..thanks for reading x
