I have to say I find most Ralph Lauren perfumes fairly unappealing. They often seem to have quite garish or clashing colours or bottle that just do not appeal to me sensibilities so when I saw this perfume I was quite surprised. I love feminine, flirty, floral perfumes so when I saw this bottle I thought immediately it had to be the kind of perfume I usually go for. The box it comes in has a textured pink face with silver coloured edges. The bottle is made from a clear glass and has a square face with is essentially a rectangular prism. It has a rectangular shaped silver coloured lid and a round neck with the named of the perfume running around it in silver. The design is both very classic looking and feminine whilst also being modern in its simplicity. I really like the design and the way the slight hint of pink gives it a lovely girlyness. The instant hit you get from this is florals and rose scents, these are underpinned by a light spiciness and musky/woody fragrances. I like the way these combine together to create a perfume that is utterly feminine in its essence because it is complex. The sweet, soft, powdery notes at the top of this perfume mellow into the light essence of spices and then deepens into woods and musks which give the perfume body and depth. The top notes are ginger, chamomile, lemon, freesia and rose. These combine together to give over a lovely floral scent which has an almost oriental aspect to it which gives it a little something different from just a classic floral scent. The heart notes are lily, carnation, violet and lotus which add to the powdery floral aspect of the perfume and definitely give it a light, sweet, romantic feel. The base notes are exotic wood, patchouli, oakmoss and musk which give this perfume the lovely deep woodiness which is so beautiful. The overall impression you get is of something light, sweet, soft and romantic and yet it also is dark, sultry, deep and mysterious - much like love itself. I like this juxtaposition of scents as it makes this not just another floral scent but something a little bit more interesting. This perfume retails at anywhere between £25-£50 depending on where you buy it from and the size that you opt for. Personally I like to buy my perfumes at duty free once a year but when that isn't an option there are usually deals to be had online. This is definitely one of my new favourites.
Back in 2000, my first holiday with my other half was a last minute deal to Tenerife and whilst we were there, he brought me this along with the body lotion so I have some very happy memories from wearing it. The bottle is very simple, a square, the lid is silver and to the base of the lid is the word Romance in black writing. Currently available is a sizes from 30ml to 100ml and the prices range from around £35 to around £70. It is available at larger department stores such as Debenhams, but also available online at fragrance shops, Boots, Amazon etc. The packaging is quite pretty yet very basic, it is baby pink with the product name in black writing on the front. According to basenotes.com, the fragrance is as follows: Top Notes - Sungoddess Rose, Ginger, Camomile, Lychee, Marigold, Yellow Freesia Middle Notes - Lotus Flower, Night Blooming Dailily, White Violet, Violet Absolute Base Notes - Patchouli, Oakmoss, Exotic Wood, Skin Musk I find the fragrance really quite floral, so I was quite surprised that I liked it as normally I am not a floral fragrance fan. I would say that the rose and freesia is quite dominant upon first spray, this subsides quite quickly to leave a beautiful subtle fragrance. I say subtle because it isn't very strong and despite this being EDP, I do find that the fragrance doesn't hang around too long either, a few hours after applying, I cannot smell anymore, neither on my skin or on my clothes. I did find that if I sprayed on top of the body lotion, the fragrance was a lot stronger. For me, although this appears quite an adult fragrance, it reminds me of some very happy, romantic and 'loved up' times. Overall, whilst I don't wear this anymore, it certainly appealed to me back in the day I would give 4 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading.
I've been on the hunt for quite a while for the perfect perfume for me. I am still searching but Ralph Lauren Romance is pretty close so I hope my review is useful to my fellow fragrance hunters. I've found the easiest way to tell which perfumes are worth a spritz is to rule out the ones that have elements I dislike. Someone had suggested that I might like Ralph Lauren Romance so I had a look at the description of the fragrance: "The women's fragrance that evokes the timeless essence of falling in love. Discover the sensual essence of velvety woods, extravagant florals and seductive musk" Needlessly to say I disregarded the first sentence - how many times have you heard someone say "And that's when I could smell that I was in love"? But, ridiculous advertising blurbs aside, the rest of it sounded pretty good. The idea of a velvety wood certainly intrigued me. It actually described it pretty well. It's quite a floral perfume which to me smells a little of violets and lilies - which is great as I love these scents. There is a soft musk to it and a woodiness which stops the scent from being to girlish and gives it a little more depth. I would describe it as a sophisticated fragrance that would be more suited to evening wear than day to day. One of my bugbears is awkwardly shaped perfume bottles; if you've read my review of Next's scent Define, you'll note this is what puts me off the otherwise lovely Marc Jacobs fragrances. No such problem here. A small, squareish, classic perfume bottle which fits neatly into a handbag and a satisfying click to the lid that means it won't leak everywhere. Good work Ralph. It is a very feminine fragrance but not as sickly sweet as some of its competitors. It has a timeless quality without being overpowering. It would be perfect to wear on a dinner date as it is an attractive fragrance without being so strong that it would put fellow diners off there food. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the scent has quite good staying power. This is good as it means a bottle lasts longer. I would say that the scent lasts for a good couple of hours before you need to reapply. I got a lot of compliments on this perfume, even more than for other similarly priced scents I have tried. So, any chaps that might be looking for a Valentine's gift, I think this would put you firmly in the good books - the thing's even called Romance, how much more fitting can you get?! It is towards the higher end of the perfume price range but I think that with this you really do get what you pay for. Not an everyday scent but if you are looking for something to wear on special occasions it's worth the £45 for 50ml EDT Overall, I loved this feminine but sophisticated scent. It's complex enough to be a classic but uncommon enough to make you stand out from the crowd of Diors and Chanels
I was given Ralph Lauren Romance as a gift a couple of years ago. It is not a fragrance that I would have considered myself but I was willing to give it a try, particularly as it was a gift from someone who usually has a good nose with these sorts of things! The perfume came in a neat square cardboard box that was a pretty light pink in colour, with silver edgings and lid. This was labelled very simply with the fragrance brand and name on the front. Inside the box was a rectangular thick glass bottle with a silver rectangular lid which is pulled off to reveal the spray nozzle. Not the most interesting or attractive bottle I have seen but it still looked stylish none-the-less. Browsing online, I can see that the fragrance was launched in 1998 and is currently retailing at rather varied prices - so, as with most things these days, I would recommend shopping around before you make a purchase! The 30ml bottle of Eau de Parfum is around £35. The top notes in this scent are ginger, chamomile, lemon, yellow freesia and rose. Middle notes are lily, carnation, white violet and lotus and base notes are exotic woods, patchouli, oak moss and white musk. For me, this is a really feminine, floral scent. I'm not really a massive fan of floral scents so I would never have chosen this for myself but I was surprised by just how much I liked the scent. The rose is really the dominant smell, which wears off throughout the day to leave the white musk smell. It is a fresh, clean smell that I use for everyday wear. I was surprised to read that this is recommended for evening wear as it is not that strong nor is it what I would call an evening perfume. It is rather light in a 'barely there' kind of way, which is why I would say it is best for daywear. I cannot really detect the lemon in this but there is a small hint of ginger which gives it a bit of a spiced aroma and stops it from smelling overly soapy like I find some floral perfumes can be. The scent lasts well throughout the day, I find that if I apply in the morning, I can still detect and notice it on me by the end of the day. I do think that the prices online make this a lot more expensive than I anticipated and I am really not sure that I would pay so much for it. It's a pleasant enough scent but it doesn't really have anything I would call unique about it. There are certainly scents that I prefer which are cheaper that I would opt for over this. Never the less, I would say this was worth a smell if you are looking for a subtle, floral scent.
I first tried Ralph Lauren Romance when I bought a fragrance sampler pack from Sephora which included 10 small bottles of perfume and a gift certificate I could redeem for one of the perfumes in full size. It was a tough decision to choose just one from those 10, but in the end Romance was the winner for me. I often find myself going for softer, girly floral fragrances and I quite like a hint of musk. Ralph Lauren Romance comes in a pale pink box with silver edging and silver writing. When I saw the packaging and advert, I thought it would be something I would like. The glass bottle is very simple, a fairly chunky clear rectangle with a silver rectangular lid. I find the simplicity of the packaging attractive. You can easily see how much perfume has been used and the bottle looks classy and feminine. In my view the only minor thing which lets down the packaging is that the silver strip with the name of the perfume around the neck of the bottle is just a sticker. I think it would look much nicer if this were metal, but this is hardly a big issue. Ralph Lauren says the scent is evocative of falling in love. I think this is quite a good description and the name Romance really suits the perfume. I would sum it up as a simple feminine floral with a hint of wood and musk when it starts to dry down. According to Basenotes.com the notes are as follows: Top Notes Sungoddess Rose, Ginger, Camomile, Lychee, Marigold, Yellow Freesia Middle Notes Lotus Flower, Night Blooming Dailily, White Violet, Violet Absolute Base Notes Patchouli, Oakmoss, Exotic Wood, Skin Musk I can't pick all of these out individually in the fragrance. Although it sounds like a lot of different flowers, the scent is not overwhelming or too complex and messy. The rose note is definitely the clearest when you first spray, and is present even as the scent develops. It is a lovely, classic perfume and I think it would suit any age. I am 25 and love it. I could also easily imagine my mum, age 59, wearing this. It is a subtle and clean enough scent to make it appropriate for work and daytime use, but I think it would also be lovely on a summer night. This fragrance was first brought out in 1998 and I can understand why it has remained popular since then and has become a modern classic. Romance has good sillage and the staying power is also impressive. It lasts pretty much all day on my skin, being recognisable for a good 8 or 9 hours. I would give a quick top up just to freshen it up if I was going out for the evening.
When choosing fragrances I always tend to opt for those that offer a musky fragrance, particularly as I love seductive and sensual aromas. A fragrance that I initially purchased not long after its launch in the late 90's is Ralph Lauren Romance Eau De Parfum and due to its stunning aroma it is one that I've repurchased over and over again. The first aspect that draws me into a new fragrance when I'm shopping in a department store is its appearance, as those that I find the most eye-catching are those that are simplistic and uniquely shaped. Romance is presented in a beautiful oblong shaped glass bottle where the inner edges offer sexy curves, which gives the fragrance a contemporary and high quality appearance. There is no clutter to be found on the glass and it is on the base of the shiny chrome coloured sturdy plastic lid that Ralph Lauren has provided their familiar logo. The upper section of the lid is oblong shaped to match the glass and provides the perfect finishing touch to this very classy fragrance. An issue I often experience with many fragrances is that the lids detach themselves and often disappear into the unknown, but fortunately, as the lid clicks into place there is no fear of it loosening from the bottle. The fragrance is released in a fine mist via the pump dispenser where the enchanting top notes become evident. The most recognisable is marigold, which is an aroma I adore as I simply cannot resist bending down to witness the scent of the vivid orange and yellow flowers that flourish in my garden every summer. The accompanying notes of sungoddess rose and yellow freesia soon becomes apparent and add to the marigold bouquet together with a delicate hint of ginger, camomile and lychee. These notes are evident for approximately fifteen minutes before they are joined by the tantalizing heart notes of night blooming day lily, white violet, violet absolute and lotus flower. You would be forgiven for believing that this combination would offer an overload of floral fragrance, but they work in perfect harmony to create the most stunning aroma. The base notes, which follow in approximately an hour create a very romantic and sensual offering to this fragrance where it is accompanied with oakmoss, exotic wood, patchouli and skin musk. The majority of my collection of fragrances contain musk in the base notes as I find myself attracted to its dreamy aroma. The base notes offer a slight masculine scent, which I find very appealing, particularly as the fragrance opens with a very floral accord. My only disappointment with Romance is its longevity, as its aroma is evident for only a few hours, which is not what I would have expected for such a premier brand. Consequently, I have in the past, layered the fragrance by initially applying the matching body lotion, which intensifies the aroma and offers a good few more hours staying power. Despite my grumble this is still a real winner for me and unfortunately, my current bottle will probably offer me only a few more applications. However, this is an eau de parfum that I've enjoyed wearing since its launch and I will soon be replacing my bottle. The fragrance is available in three sizes, namely 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. I have checked on the Boots website for prices and at the time of writing the 30ml is priced at £34, the 50ml is on offer at £28.50 and the 100ml is £66.50. It is necessary for me to remove one star due to the longevity, but otherwise this is a stunning fragrance, which I can highly recommend. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Ralph Lauren Romance, Eau de Parfum is definitely one of my favourite perfumes. I think it's a wonderful fragrance that really gets it right, and simply just ticks all the boxes. I first tried this a few years ago whilst in an airport duty free shop. On sampling I found that I immediately liked the smell, and so thought I'd hint a little to my husband by letting him smell it. He did agree that it was very nice. The hint worked, but not until a few months later. I seem to remember it being a very welcome Christmas gift. THE SCENT I would best describe this as very feminine and subtle. It's a really pretty scent, mainly floral, I would say. This is a quote taken from the Ralph Lauren website, http://www.ralphlauren.com: 'The women's fragrance that evokes the timeless essence of falling in love. Discover the sensual essence of velvety woods, extravagant florals and seductive musk.' The notes are of velvety woods, florals and seductive musk. The feminine notes include Sungoddess Rose, Marigold, Ginger, Chamomile Oil, Yellow Freesia, White Violet, Lotus Flower and Day Lily, while the sensual base contains warm notes of Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk. I don't think I could identify the individual ingredients that make up this perfume but there is a faint essence, I think, of rose and freesia. I wouldn't be able to pick out the more exotic blends included in this, although I appreciate that it does have an interesting scent, making one wonder just what it is. I was recently sampling some perfumes in Debenhams and also had a look to see how much this was selling for. A lady customer started speaking to me, telling me that Ralph Lauren Romance was a lovely perfume. I agreed, telling her it was one of my favourites. She went on to say that she seemed to get more compliments when wearing this fragrance than with any others in her collection, which are mostly more expensive brands then Ralph Lauren. I could only comment that it was one of my best fragrances, but as I don't own anything which I consider expensive, I wouldn't know whether it compares favourably or not. But I do know that I love the smell of it. STAYING POWER I am quite pleased with the lasting power of this perfume. I find it lasts well-definitely for a few hours, and then will still linger. It isn't the most powerful perfume I have tried but I would definitely class it as good in terms of longevity of the aroma. I usually wear this of an evening. I will often take the bottle out with me to re apply. I haven't particularly noticed that it needs replenishing, but just in case... SUITABILITY This does in fact suit most ages but will probably be BEST suited as a fragrance for the adult woman being that it is a quite sophisticated smell rather than a fun 'girly' smell. I think this perfume is more designed for evening or special occasion wear than as an everyday scent. I really think it's too special for an 'any time' fragrance. PACKAGING The packaging is pretty and subtle. The square simple lines of the bottle with its silver lid make it current, and yet the pink box with silver lettering brings in the pretty feminine aspect. The packaging is attractive enough to make a welcome gift for most ladies who are 'romantically' inclined! AVAILABILITY AND PRICES This perfume is available from many high street perfume retailers and department stores. It is also available to purchase from on-line stockists. Prices with perfumes vary a lot but here are some examples which may help: Boots the Chemist- EdP Spray 50ml= £45.00 100ml=£64.50 Debenhams- Edp Spray 50 ml=£45.00 EdT Spray 30 ml= £32.00 The Perfume Shop- Edp Spray 30 ml=£31.50
Romance by Ralph Lauren is one of my favourite perfumes. I discovered it ten years or so ago when I was looking for a special fragrance for my wedding day. Yes, I was wooed by the name if I am honest, but after testing it, I fell in love with the fragrance and decided it was the one to wear for my special day. The packaging is a baby pink box, with silver edging which is consistent with the romantic image, and the bottle is a solid chunky glass bottle with a lovely silver top. The bottle looks and feels like it will contain a quality product that will be a treat to use. The initial smell of the fragrance is of lovely fresh and feminine florals - not overly sweet though, just the right balance. When the fragrance has settled the warm musk and patchouli base notes come into their own and tone the fragrance to make it a sensual one as well a floral feminine one. The musk is very subtle though unlike some musky perfumes which tend to smell a bit like an animal marking its territory, in Romance it is just a hint and works brilliantly. The full notes of the fragrance are as follows: Top notes: lotus flower, day lily, white violet Heart notes: Guava, water violet, sun goddess rose Base notes: Musk and patchouli For me Romance is a perfume which has the perfect combination of soft florals for a feminine fragrance, but with sensual base notes to give it a bit of added spice. I love it and only wear it on special occasions to make the bottle last! It is perfect for day or evening wear in my opinion. You can pick up a 30ml bottle for around £30, and Boots are offering a gift set of the 30ml bottle with the moisturiser for £32. I have used the moisturiser in the past and it is lovely and really adds an extra layer of depth to the fragrance - as my bottle is running low, this gift set will be at the top of my Christmas list! I would highly recommend this perfume to anyone who loves their florals and if you want brownie points with anyone, buy this for their Christmas present!!
Ralph Lauren is a well known and trusted brand that has been around for and age, so you always know that you are going to get a top quality product whenever you purchase, and Ralph Lauren " Romance" is no exception! I was originally bought this perfume by my partner as a birthday present 4 years ago and has been the only perfume i have used since then! It comes with a feminine looking pink and silver box which to me, immediatley gives the sense of luxury. The bottle itself has an easy to hold shape which is always an important factor for me, as there are so many perfumes on the market that are not very practical when it comes to actually applying the fragrance. The fragrance of Ralph Lauren "Romance" lives up to its name. It has a definite seductive and romantic feel. I would describe it as elegant, light and slightly woody, and suitable for both day and night. "Romance" is a little pricier than alot of fragrances on the market. You can buy an 100ml bottle of Ralph Lauren "Romance" from anything between £35 (Which is the cheapest i have ever found it) to £65, but it is well worth shopping around first before purchasing, as there are some really good deals out there, particularly on the internet.
According to the advertising, Ralph Lauren 'Romance' Eau De Parfum is said to "evoke the feeling of falling in love", and it must be doing a good job as it's been around since 1998! I've been using it for only a few though personally, and bought it online at fragrancedirect. I bought a 30ml bottle for just under £20 which I thought was a good price, and there are larger bottles available for bigger budgets - 50ml is about £30 at the cheapest and 100ml is around £45 if you get a bargain! The bottle of the perfume is very classical looking, and it's very understated and elegant, which I really like. It looks great on a dressing table and the perfume is a light, pretty pink colour which is very romantic. When I first spray this perfume on I smell a really sweet, floral aroma which is refreshing and in my opinion gorgeous! I could smell a lovely rose scent which was feminine and sensual and there was a little hint of ginger in with the other floral scents which gave the perfume a really pleasant warming tone to my nose. After about half an hour, I could smell more floral scents coming through but I couldn't tell what they were - according the the official notes the middle ofthe scent is meant to smell like white violent, lotus flower and day lily but I couldn't pick the smells out individually. Still they were all really nice to smell and I kept finding myself sniffing my wrist when I first tried this! Towards the afternoon, I could smell patchouli coming through in the aromas, which I loved, plus a more earthy musky smell which blended in with the end of the floral scents very well. I found that this perfume was very long lasting on me, and after just a few sprays in the morning, I could still smell the perfume on my skin by the early evening. I think this is meant to be an evening wear perfume, but I wear it in the daytime as it's not too overpowering at all and I really love the romantic aromas. Overall, I think 'Romance' is a gorgeous perfume, it's very feminine but not overly girly, it's more womanly than girly. Both the scent and the bottle are classic in design, and I can really recommend this fragrance.
I was given a Ralph Lauren Romance gift set as a Birthday present and what a very generous gift it was as this perfume retails at £45.00 for a 50 ml and at £65.00 for a 10ml bottle this perfume is not cheap. Packaging The perfume comes in a pale pink box with silver edging and silver writing. I would describe it as incredibly feminine and very romantic. The bottle is a heavy glass rectangle with a rectangle silver stopper which has romance by Ralph Lauren around the neck. Fragrance I am not a fragrance expect but this I would describe as light, very feminine whenever I smell this I think of floaty dresses and Garden parties, neither of which are me! I will try to describe the fragrance it is a floral perfume with woody tones this is supported by a very delicate musk, so in lay mans terms its flowery without being sickly musky without being too heavy. I immediately on smelling would say it is delicate. Recommendation I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this perfume on smell as it so lovely a really gorgeous light fragrance with staying power unlike many cheaper fragrances this does last all day and even better whilst confirming the prices I have discovered this on sale at www.theperfumesuperstoreco.uk at £39.99 for a 50ml bottle or at www.wilkinsonplus.com at £19.95 for a30ml or of course get it via Amazon with your dooyoo points!
When I was getting married in 2004 I took a trip into Manchester to pick up some samples of fragrances. Ralph Lauren Romance was one that I chose and it was only narrowly beaten by Chanel Chance! Of course after my wedding I wanted some of the Romance fragrance too so this is a review for that. I actually got my latest Ralph Lauren Romance set via my next directory after Christmas when there was a gift set including a 50ml eau de parfum spray and a 50ml body lotion for £24.99. I snapped this up immediately as the perfume alone is around £35.00 I believe. The Romance perfume comes in a very classy looking rectangular bottle with a "T" shaped silver lid with the words "Ralph Lauren Romance" circling the rim. I like the fact that the bottle is see through as you can see just how much perfume you have left. I would describe the fragrance as very feminine. I am not so good with putting into words what things smell like accurately but to me it has quite a sweet, floral smell. The perfume has real lasting power in my opinion so you could be confident it would last most of the day. I try to use the perfume on special occasions or on days I want to give myself a bit of a boost as the price is usually quite expensive but wearing this always makes me feel a bit more special.
Anyone who's read my other reviews may know that I'm obsessed by perfumes, and this one is another of my all time classic fragrances. The bottle itself is quite elegant but nothing really to write home about. It is clear glass and rectangular with a silver top. You can see the perfume through the glass which is handy for knowing how much you've got left. The perfume itself is a light straw colour. It comes in a pretty pink box with silver edging. Apparently notes include Sungoddess Rose, Marigold, Ginger, Chamomile Oil, Yellow Freesia, White Violet, Lotus Flower and Day Lily, while the sensual base contains warm notes of Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk. Personally I cannot distinguish all of these notes. Overall it is a light, floral, lovely, slightly musky scent. It is not too heavy so it is suitable for daytime and evening wear. A few squirts of the scent lasts most of the day too. The name is very fitting as 'romance' does seem to sum it up! I think this perfume is suitable for all ages and as such would make a fantastic present. No-one would be disappointed with this perfume, especially since it carries the Ralph Lauren name. A lot of my friends have asked me what perfume I've been wearing and then gone on to buy themselves a bottle! I buy most of my perfumes from cheapsmells.com (going through Quidco for extra cashback). Currently a 30ml size costs £20.80 exc delivery and a 50ml size costs £31.95 exc delivery. I think this is quite reasonable. It is a lot more expensive in high-street stores. You can also get this fragrance in a body lotion, shower gel and a deodrant spray if you want to complement the fragrance and really help it to last all day and evening. Overall I would recommend this perfume to all age groups for romantic and non-romantic occasions!
I received the appropriately named Romance eau de parfum as a present and it is in my top three fragrances now! It was packaged well and came in an attractive pink box. Romance is a perfect name for this scent by Ralph Lauren as it is a very feminine scent with floral notes, roses and violets to name but a few. It is a scent that makes you thing of late spring days when everything is beginning to bloom and the days are fresh. The best thing about this perfume is that it lasts for a whole day but is in no way overpowering, more a subtle scent. Although it may be slightly expensive, I think having a scent that makes you feel good is worth paying a little more. I can not think of any disadvantages of this product apart from the fact that you may become addicted to the scent!!! A beautiful perfume, Romance for the romantics out there!
Romance by Ralph Lauren is another of my favourite perfumes. It takes a couple of minutes to settle on your skin after spraying and then has a lovely feminine fragrance that is sweet and fresh. The fragrance is long-lasting and more appropriate for evening wear, although I sometimes wear it as a day perfume. It will last all day even if used sparingly. The fragrance can be overpowering if excessive amounts are used. The packaging is stylishly functional rather than decorative. It consists of a rectangular glass bottle without any labelling. The spray nozzle is silver on a cylindrical silver base. The silver lid is rectangular with a sliver Ralph Lauren label around the bottom of its base. On the negative side the lid feels cheap. I would recommend this perfume as its long-lasting fragrance smells wonderful and will make any woman feel sexy. Expect to pay £35 for 50ml.
Its scents are fresh rose, ginger, marigold, violet, oakmoss and musk / Ralph Lauren Romance is a sensual and feminine fragrance which captures an exquisite blend of velvety woods, extravagant florals and seductive musk /
