Advantages: smells devine
Disadvantages: The price, box could do with updating
I have an absolute addiction to perfume and have a massive collection. Ever since I gave up smoking, my obsession has increased, probably because I can actually smell the perfume on myself more now than I don't have smoke lingering on my clothes.
A perfume that is one of my firm favourites is Ralph Lauren Romance
Packaging
To be honest, I think the box which this perfume comes in is extremely plain and a little bit boring and does nothing to advertise the delicious smell that is lurking within. The box is baby pink and has a silver lining around the outside of the box. Ralph Lauren Romance is written across the front of the box in black writing.
The bottle itself is quite elegant looking and slightly different from other perfume bottles, it is made totally of glass so you can see how much scent you have left.
The bottle is rectangular with a circular neck. The lid is silver and sits neatly on top of the neck where there is a silver label that reads ‘Ralph Lauren Romance’.
Price
One thing I don’t like about this perfume is the price – it’s expensive. In Boots a 50ml bottle will cost you £40 and 100ml bottle would set you back a whopping £57. I often look on eBay when I need to buy a new bottle and it’s still expensive on there.
What Does It Smell Like
In short – absolutely gorgeous! I think that this is certainly a feminine fragrance and not at all musky. When you first spray it the scent is quite floral (that’s the only way to describe it really) but it doesn’t actually smell of flowers, it’s just a very light and delicate smell.
Ralph Lauren describe this fragrance as "An Enduring Fragrance inspired by Romantic Love"
The top notes which are basically the scents you smell when you first put the perfume on include Ginger, Ylang Ylang, Lychee, Marigold, Yellow Fresia, Chamomile Oil, Sun goddess Rose
The Heart Notes which are the note that last up to an hour after applying are Night Blooming Day Lily, Lotus Flower, Paridisone and White Violet and finally the base notes, which can be smelt all day include Skin Musk, Oakmoss, Patchouli Coeur and Exotic woods.
I think the floral and woody notes really compliment each other and leave you with an absolutely stunning scent.
Does The Smell Last?
Yes it certainly does. I use a couple of squirts first thing in the morning and it can still be smelt at the end of the day and still smells just as nice, the scent doesn’t seem to fade throughout the day as some other scents do.
This perfume is odd because for quite a light fragrance, you would expect it to wear off quickly but it certainly doesn’t. This is my boyfriend’s favourite perfume and he always comments on it when I wear it (and he usually only sees me after I have been wearing it all day at work so I know that it definitely has staying power)
Summary
I would 100% recommend this perfume to anyone who likes delicate perfumes. The smell is so light and refreshing and certainly makes you feel very feminine. This isn't a perfume for women who don't like the sweet and girlie perfumes - don't get me wrong, this perfume is not sickly sweet but is definitely a more girlie one than some of my others.
The downside is that is quite expensive but then it smells so good and the scent lasts a reasonable time so you can nearly forgive the extortionate price!
Summary: A beautiful perfume that is light and delicate
