Ralph Lauren Ralph Women Eau de Toilette
by joclark84
Ralph Lauren
The claims
Ralph Lauren's female fragrance (turquoise/blue) is a classic fragrance that has been popular for many years. It claims to be ' a fresh, floral fragrance. A blend of sparkling green apple leaves, zesty orange mandarin, charismatic pink magnolia, inspiring purple freesia and soft blue musk'. It ... believes it 'captures the energy, spirit and personality of today's young woman'.
Appearance
The Ralph Lauren fragrance bottle comes in a small cuboid box which is turquoise in colour. The bottle itself is a clear curved bottle, with a blue/turquoise band across the middle. On the bottle the name Ralph is written. The appearance, although quite plain, I feel is very distinctive and classy.
The important bit- the smell.
I would describe this perfume as a fruity fragrance (despite Ralph Lauren claiming it is floral). It is the type of fragrance that is perfect as a day perfume rather than an evening perfume. It has a strong distinct smell which fits in well with the summer months. In my experience this perfume is more suited to the younger generation. My mum, although she does not hate the smell, often tells me she could never wear it. However I feel that the summer smell is just beautiful and everytime I use it it reminds me of the sunshine.
Buying it
The fragrance comes in 3 sized bottles 30ml, 50ml and 100ml, although I have never seen the 100ml available in Boots where I generally buy my perfume. Prices range from £15 (special offer) up to about £40 for the 100ml bottle. You can also buy this fragrance as part of a gift pack which can include moisturisers and shower creams which I once received as a gift and loved. I really like knowing I'm using the same smells rather than trying to compliment my shower gel and perfume.
Other products
Ralph Lauren also do an orange version within this range but this appears to be less popular. I am not as familiar with this product as although I have smelt it, i do not like the smell enough to purchase it instead of the blue one. This can also come as part of a gift pack which includes shower cream.
My opinion
I love this fragrance. It is a really sweet youthful fragrance, perfect for summer times in the sun. I always own a bottle of this and always ask for it as a present. The only negative parts of this product are that firstly the fragrance doesn't last all day. I'd generally say I can still smell it after half a day but others would need to get very close to me to smell it beyond that. Secondly I have found that sometimes the lids can become a little loose and this can lead to difficulty if you are travelling with the fragrance. Other than that, this product is top qulaity and I love it. Read the complete review |

Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum
by helenc72
I first tried Ralph Lauren Romance when I bought a fragrance sampler pack from Sephora which included 10 small bottles of perfume and a gift certificate I could redeem for one of the perfumes in full size. It was a tough decision to choose just one from those 10, but in the end Romance was the winner for me.
I often find ... myself going for softer, girly floral fragrances and I quite like a hint of musk. Ralph Lauren Romance comes in a pale pink box with silver edging and silver writing. When I saw the packaging and advert, I thought it would be something I would like. The glass bottle is very simple, a fairly chunky clear rectangle with a silver rectangular lid. I find the simplicity of the packaging attractive. You can easily see how much perfume has been used and the bottle looks classy and feminine. In my view the only minor thing which lets down the packaging is that the silver strip with the name of the perfume around the neck of the bottle is just a sticker. I think it would look much nicer if this were metal, but this is hardly a big issue.
Ralph Lauren says the scent is evocative of falling in love. I think this is quite a good description and the name Romance really suits the perfume. I would sum it up as a simple feminine floral with a hint of wood and musk when it starts to dry down.
According to Basenotes.com the notes are as follows:
Top Notes
Sungoddess Rose, Ginger, Camomile, Lychee, Marigold, Yellow Freesia
Middle Notes
Lotus Flower, Night Blooming Dailily, White Violet, Violet Absolute
Base Notes
Patchouli, Oakmoss, Exotic Wood, Skin Musk
I can't pick all of these out individually in the fragrance. Although it sounds like a lot of different flowers, the scent is not overwhelming or too complex and messy. The rose note is definitely the clearest when you first spray, and is present even as the scent develops.
It is a lovely, classic perfume and I think it would suit any age. I am 25 and love it. I could also easily imagine my mum, age 59, wearing this. It is a subtle and clean enough scent to make it appropriate for work and daytime use, but I think it would also be lovely on a summer night.
This fragrance was first brought out in 1998 and I can understand why it has remained popular since then and has become a modern classic.
Romance has good sillage and the staying power is also impressive. It lasts pretty much all day on my skin, being recognisable for a good 8 or 9 hours. I would give a quick top up just to freshen it up if I was going out for the evening. Read the complete review |

Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum
by alyson29
When choosing fragrances I always tend to opt for those that offer a musky fragrance, particularly as I love seductive and sensual aromas. A fragrance that I initially purchased not long after its launch in the late 90's is Ralph Lauren Romance Eau De Parfum and due to its stunning aroma it is one that I've repurchased over and over ... again.
The first aspect that draws me into a new fragrance when I'm shopping in a department store is its appearance, as those that I find the most eye-catching are those that are simplistic and uniquely shaped. Romance is presented in a beautiful oblong shaped glass bottle where the inner edges offer sexy curves, which gives the fragrance a contemporary and high quality appearance. There is no clutter to be found on the glass and it is on the base of the shiny chrome coloured sturdy plastic lid that Ralph Lauren has provided their familiar logo. The upper section of the lid is oblong shaped to match the glass and provides the perfect finishing touch to this very classy fragrance. An issue I often experience with many fragrances is that the lids detach themselves and often disappear into the unknown, but fortunately, as the lid clicks into place there is no fear of it loosening from the bottle.
The fragrance is released in a fine mist via the pump dispenser where the enchanting top notes become evident. The most recognisable is marigold, which is an aroma I adore as I simply cannot resist bending down to witness the scent of the vivid orange and yellow flowers that flourish in my garden every summer. The accompanying notes of sungoddess rose and yellow freesia soon becomes apparent and add to the marigold bouquet together with a delicate hint of ginger, camomile and lychee. These notes are evident for approximately fifteen minutes before they are joined by the tantalizing heart notes of night blooming day lily, white violet, violet absolute and lotus flower. You would be forgiven for believing that this combination would offer an overload of floral fragrance, but they work in perfect harmony to create the most stunning aroma.
The base notes, which follow in approximately an hour create a very romantic and sensual offering to this fragrance where it is accompanied with oakmoss, exotic wood, patchouli and skin musk. The majority of my collection of fragrances contain musk in the base notes as I find myself attracted to its dreamy aroma. The base notes offer a slight masculine scent, which I find very appealing, particularly as the fragrance opens with a very floral accord. My only disappointment with Romance is its longevity, as its aroma is evident for only a few hours, which is not what I would have expected for such a premier brand. Consequently, I have in the past, layered the fragrance by initially applying the matching body lotion, which intensifies the aroma and offers a good few more hours staying power.
Despite my grumble this is still a real winner for me and unfortunately, my current bottle will probably offer me only a few more applications. However, this is an eau de parfum that I've enjoyed wearing since its launch and I will soon be replacing my bottle. The fragrance is available in three sizes, namely 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. I have checked on the Boots website for prices and at the time of writing the 30ml is priced at £34, the 50ml is on offer at £28.50 and the 100ml is £66.50. It is necessary for me to remove one star due to the longevity, but otherwise this is a stunning fragrance, which I can highly recommend.
