“ Brand: Yves Rocher / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette „
I am a big fan of beauty items and in particular have a penchant for products from the french beauty company Yves Rocher. Though I have tried most of their ranges over the years (with the exception of much of the make up as I barely wear any) I would say I particularly have a soft spot for their fragrances.
One range that I find ideal for everyday general use, is the 'Les Plaisirs Nature' collection which apart from EDT's also offers a plethora of matching shower gels, body lotions and hand washes etc.
What I like best about this collection is the fact all of the fragrances (and matching items) are fruit based and because Yves Rocher is renowned for creating their beauty items from plant extracts these EDT's tend to smell fresh and very natural.
The one I am reviewing here is the Raspberry EDT and my review will now focus entirely on this particular fragrance..
*~*Price, packaging & availability*~*
Raspberry EDT (yes that is it's full title) is available in 2 sizes of 20 ml and also a much larger version of 100 ml. The bottles are identical, apart from size obviously, and though I have owned both for reviewing purposes only I will mention that it is the smaller 20 ml size I will be referring to throughout the review.
The EDT comes housed in a very simplistic looking bottle which is made from a rather sturdy glass and is completely transparent. Apart from a small sticker on the front featuring the logo and a small etch of some juicy looking raspberries, there is very little else in the way of decoration. The EDT is accessible via a nozzle which sits on top of the bottle and is protected by a bright pink plastic lid which also coordinates nicely with the brightness of the raspberry EDT - which is viewable given the clearness of the glass. Even though the design is simple the bottle is rather eye catching mainly down to it's bright pink colouring and looks very girly and feminine in every aspect of the word.
Price wise the smaller 20 ml is around £2.90 though not always available in this size, whereas the larger 100 ml is £9.50 and tends to be in stock more frequently.
As usual I never pay full price if I can help it and don't need to with Yves Rocher as they regularly have offers such as 2 for 1, buy one get one free and percentage off sales (40%, 50% and 60% the most common). If interested in purchasing this it can be found from the following places:
*Online @ www.yves-rocher.co.uk
*By phoning 0870 049 22 22
*Alternatively Ebay have a large range of YR items so it's worth checking on there first as I have picked up some bargains myself.
*~*How it's described by Yves Rocher*~*
"..a tender and luscious eau de toilette with the mild and tangy smell of freshly picked raspberries; it leaves an irresistible scent and wraps you in exquisite fragrance.."
It certainly sounds nice enough but how does it fare after wearing it?
*~*My experience of wearing this*~*
I am a big fan of the EDT's from this particular collection and at some point have owned every one, though obviously have preferences and this raspberry is definitely one of them. On removing the plastic lid which slots over the nozzle with ease, I am met with a faint aroma of raspberries that I must admit is very enticing. On actually spritzing onto my skin the raspberry scent is strong, but not overpoweringly so, and has such a freshness about it that if I closed my eyes I could kid myself that it was a bowl of freshly picked raspberries in front of me.
The fragrance is extremely rich and has a tang to it, but is softened immensely with a hint of sweetness that balances out the EDT perfectly. On spraying onto my skin it only takes minutes for the dry down to begin and in this time the strong and rich raspberry scent that first greets me starts to morph into something much softer with a very feminine feel almost immediately.
Raspberry EDT smells divine, in a delicious mouthwatering way and the freshness and tanginess of the scent make it ideal for wearing during the Spring and Summer months as the warm weather really seems to compliment it. The robustness of the bottle makes this ideal for keeping in my bag to top up and spritz on the go and especially the smaller 20 ml size bottle means it compact, lightweight and takes up very little space in even the smallest bags.
On applying to my skin I have found that it needs to be aimed at my wrists and neck only as it is quite a strong concentrated aroma so liberally applying all over (like I sometimes do with perfumes) is really not needed here. The fragrance lasts on my skin for approximately 3 to 4 hours before fading to the point of needing to be reapplied and I think this is a reasonable amount of time given it is just an EDT at the end of the day. I wouldn't rule it out to wear on an evening though personally I find it more of a casual day to day fragrance as it's fresh, light and fun and just reminds me of Summer when I wear it - not really the kind of perfume I like for evenings as I prefer something more heavier and heady (normally oriental based) and this is the complete opposite of that.
As this is about the fourth bottle of this EDT that I have bought over the past few years then it's a safe bet to say that I like it and therefor wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It's fresh and fruity with a tangy sweetness that just smells beautiful on my skin. It's longevity is quite impressive and a small bottle sets me back under £3 and given the fact that a small amount suffices for a few hours this really is a fantastic product.
If you like Summery fruity scents then this is not to be dismissed.
Top marks from me with 5/5.
