Review of Revlon Charlie Silver Eau de toilette
I was given a Charlie Silver gift set last Christmas which contained a 30ml fragrance spray, a 50ml tube of shower gel and a body spray. Charlie fragrances have never actually been a particular favourite of mine, but as it was a gift, obviously I had little or no choice! I put the set to one side and only opened it recently.
This review concentrates on the fragrance.
**Packaging and Scent**
Presented in a frankly dull bottle, the actual scent is clear. The bottle is made of clear glass too, the shape is vaguely triangular and the spray mechanism is white. The product name and all other details are printed on the glass in a blue font.
The fragrance is described by Revlon as a fruity/floral scent. I found the scent to be a fairly strongly floral at the first sniff. The scent was (to my nose) magnolia with an under note of lily of the valley.
The middle notes are most definitely fruity; I can detect apricot, pear and peach fragrances. These make for a fresh, yet warm fragrance. The fragrance does seem to change fairly dramatically during use, it starts as a floral and transforms into a more 'green' scent.
Where Revlon Charlie Silver falls down in my experience is the staying power. Whilst it does seem fairly strong at first, it definitely does not last well on my skin. After a very short time, only a couple of hours, I can barely notice this fragrance. Of course, fragrances do vary from person to person, which is why it is always wise to 'try before you buy' a new fragrance.
**Price and Availability**
As my Charlie Silver was received as a gift, I do not know how much it cost or where it was bought. I have checked on line and have discovered that this fragrance is very reasonable, price wise. It can be found in various High Street stores and from on line stockists.
To give an idea of price, the 30ml EDT is on average around £5, making it a budget buy in my opinion.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
My thoughts on this fragrance are mixed; it is a light pleasant scent but does not last long enough on me. The price is very fair and for a light, everyday fragrance, it is a good buy. I do feel that the staying power is rather poor and even though the price is low, you would need to top up this fragrance regularly. Having been given a gift set with three items, I can of course layer this fragrance, which is my preferred way to use this type of product.
In my opinion Revlon Charlie Silver is probably best suited to a younger woman or teenager. The light fresh scent makes it an everyday fragrance and it is certainly affordable. I wouldn't actually buy this for myself as I prefer something with a little more 'oomph', but I would say that it is worth a try if you like a floral, fruity fragrance.
I am awarding this fragrance a 3* rating, dropping stars for the lack of staying power..
