      Very helpful

Nice light scent with fresh floral notes

      Rochas Poupee

I took a number of little sample on holiday with me as I could try different scents and throw away the containers as I went along. This was one of my little sample bottles and as such I can't really talk about the actual bottle it comes in. It appears to come in a fairly standard looking pink bottle with a darker pink or red lid, nothing really special in my view.

When I first put this on I was struck by the very sweet light floral scent which was pretty, girly, summery and very pleasant. It struck me as very pleasant and slightly rose combined with pineapple sort of notes nut very fresh and pleasant.

The house of Rochas is usually known for its classy rather heavier old fashioned scents and so I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The creator of this scent is Anne Flipo who is the inventor of many L'Artisan Parfumeur fragrances. This scent from Rochas is called 'Poupèe' which means "doll" in French and was created a few years back in 2004.

This scent is a refreshing combination of a tuberose and fruit combination so fruity floral. Sometimes that combination can be sickly sweet and quite heavy but I found this was light and refreshing but still had staying power. I put mine on at around 9am and in the late afternoon I could still smell a hint on me.
The notes in this perfume or eau de toilette as mine was are Notes: Orange blossom, pineapple, gardenia, green jasmine, hazelnut, tuberose, sandalwood, benzoin, amber, balms.

The top notes which hit me with a welcoming sweetness that was light and flowery are those off the orange blossom and tuberose. I loved this and found it a really lovely opening which then gradually mellowed still sweet but with a more warm sweet scent. I loved the rosy aroma which blended with a sort of powdery floral possibly the gardenia coming through and this stage lasted the longest in my view. Later in the afternoon I became aware that the scent was more subtle and vanilary and the notes of benzoin which I find quite vanilary combined with the sandalwood which is one of my favourite smells.

I am not sure why Rochas chose the name 'Poupee 'for this but some have suggested that it smells like a new plastic doll of their childhood. I am not sure I smelled this and assumed it was 'doll' as in young girl rather than a plastic childhood one. I have to say in English the name doesn't work so well.

I would say this is a pretty scent and a summery one rather than a winter or evening scent. It worked well for me on the day I wore it as it was a hot day and the scent suited the warmth of the day lifting me spirits and making me feel summery and fresh.

I think this would suit most people who like fruity floral scents and maybe more the younger audience rather than the older generation. It is girly floral rather than old lady floral if that makes sense and I was happy to wear it even though I may not be that youthful I certainly don't feel like an old lady either.
I was driving much of the morning I wore this and every time I turned my head I could smell my perfume which really made me feel good. I didn't feel that this fragrance had any synthetic feel at all to me it smells like fresh and I imagine a garden of wonderful flowers. I personally found this fragrance was uplifting and smelled a bit like 'Beautiful' only not quite as heavy.

This is a fragrance that I would buy a full bottle of as it the sort of smell that people say, ' You smell nice' and reminds me of fresh blossoms in a summer garden. It kept hitting me just like that as though I was walking through a garden passing some flowers that smelled nice every time I turned my head as I was driving along and getting in and out of the car.

I have looked on Amazon and found that this is not one of the more expensive perfumes which is great as Typically I always like the more expensive ones. 30 ml costs from £14 to about £20 and 100ml costs between £35 to around £50 and I suspect postage is on top of that. I think I would go for the cheaper option if postage was the same! Perhaps I'll check out the Duty Free on the way home but I suspect the £14 price would be hard to beat.

I will certainly look to buy a bigger bottle in the near future. I really liked this one and found it had a really good staying power for a light fruity floral scent.
