Sanctuary are probably best known for their range of fairly luxurious bathing products. They have a range of "posh" bubble baths, shower gels, scrubs, and body butters that have become increasingly popular in recent years. At Christmas time last year, I noticed they had branched out and launched a range of perfumes. Indeed, Wild Rose and Violet is one of five fragrances from Sanctuary.
The scent is exactly as I had hoped- beautifully deep, crisp rose, combined with a twang of delicious violets. It is a very simple fragrance but incredibly effective. It is the kind of scent that you know whether or not you will like without even sniffing it. Anyone who likes the sound of rose and violet will simply love it. The scent didn't change dramatically after it settled on my skin, unlike many other perfumes, and the combination of the rose and violet remained perfectly balanced and unchanged throughout the day.
I reviewed the Pomegranate and Cassis Sanctuary perfume recently, and was really disappointed that the scent disappeared so quickly. I was initially fairly sceptical that the Wild Rose and Violet scent would also not last very long on my skin. However, my concerns were unfounded as this perfume stayed strong throughtout the day. I had taken the bottle in my handbag just in case, but I was really pleased to find I didn't need to reapply it at all, and I could still smell it on my skin a full 12 hours after application. Not only is this convenient, but it also means better value for money as not needing to reapply it will make the bottle last longer.
My only concern with this perfume is that after using it for a couple of months, I have noticed there are little bits of sediment forming in the bottle. I have never had this with any other perfume, and am a little unsure what could be causing it. It is kept on my dressing table out of direct sunlight, and it is not near the radiator, so I am unsure as to what the little bits are and how they got there! The smell is as beautiful and as strong as ever, so at least the bits don't seem to have effected the scent! Maybe I just got bottle from a dodgy batch.
A 50ml bottle of this eau de toilette will cost you £15 from the Sanctuary website (www.thesanctuary.co.uk), or you could get a 100ml bottle for £28, which is marginally cheaper per 10ml. This perfume is also available from Boots, where the Sanctuary range is frequently on offer, either with free gifts or money off. Having checked the Boots website earlier today, I noticed that the whole Sanctuary range is on 3 for the price of 2 at the moment, so you could pick 3 50ml Sanctuary perfumes for just £30, which seems like a bargain to me!
In summary, this is a lovely fragrance that I would really recommend to anyone who loves rose or violet. It has great staying power and is really long-lasting. It is such a gorgeous fragrance that squirting it onto my wrists always makes me smile. A really lovely perfume from Sanctuary.
