Advantages: Fruity, light, cheap, availability, cheaper and subtler version of miss dior cherie

Disadvantages: Packaging is a bit tacky

I am not really a huge fan of celebrity perfumes purely because they are endorsed by them. Also it is very clear that a lot of them don't come up with the fragrance but someone else does and it is the celebs jobs to sell them. I have previously been given Britney spears perfume as a present and I thought that it was refreshing and light. I was quite surprised as I wouldn't usually go for it. I am more likely to wear couture brands only because I cannot stand the smell of cheap perfumes. This is why I decided that maybe not all cheap perfumes smell cheap. I saw good reviews for Sarah Jessica Parker perfume range and the nyc one looked and sounded quite cosmopolitan and fresh.

I first tried the perfume at superdrug as they had the cheapest price and I had a voucher for 10% off. There is a overwhelming smell of fruitiness but it's not citrus, it is a floral type of fruitiness. It has a strong undertone of strawberries and overall it is very similar to miss dior cherie by dior. When the strawberry notes came through I could really see there was a strong resemblance. Miss dior is however stronger in both staying power and the strawberry smell. Miss dior smells sweeter whereas sjp nyc is more subtle and not as sweet. I prefer sjp nyc for this reason as if you put too much of the miss dior cherie on it can smell rather sickly. Also as it is a couture perfume it costs a lot more than sjp nyc.

This perfume is a eu du toilette whereas muss dior cherie is a eu du perfume. The perfume isn't unfortunately available as an eu du parfum which is probably one of the reasons it doesn't have a good staying power. For me it lasts about 6 hours but I wear it for work and I work 8 hours but I don't mind so much as I tend to change my perfume in the evenings if I am going out. Miss dior definitely lasts longer at 10 plus hours. It does also depend on a person's skin as to whether a perfume will last or not.

The packaging is funky but it feels very plasticy and cheap in the hand. The 60ml bottle is quite chunky to carry around in my bag and it feels rather large. The 30ml bottle is a better hand bag size and the 15ml is a bit like the body spray bottles.

The perfume is available at most high street department stores and chemists. I know that debenhams, boots and superdrugs stock it. The superdrug store near me doesn't stock the larger 60ml bottle and I can't order it which is annoying since I had the 10% off voucher. When I asked the assistant if she had the large 60ml bottle she said they didn't stock it and I couldn't order it but she said that she knew debenhams have it in stock. I thought it was a little weird that she sent me to her competitor. If you are going to use the perfume a lot then the 60ml is much better value for money at £30 as the 30ml bottle is £23.50. It does depend on how often and how much of the perfume you will use as to how cost effective it would be to get the 60ml one. I got the 60ml version because I knew that I would use it every day and as it is significantly cheaper than miss dior cherie I have replaced it with SJP NYC. At this moment in time money is tight and so I can't afford to spend money on such luxuries.

I would recommend this perfume if you are looking for a cheap perfume that smells like couture but doesn't hurt your bank balance. It is a balanced fruity perfume with a bit of sweetness. It is ideal as a light day fragrance and is a summery fragrance. It has a sort of cosmopolitan touch.
