I bought this SJP perfume because Lovely is probably one of my all time favourite fragrances and this is part of the Lovely collection - I thought I couldn't possibly go wrong for the price.
The bottle is reminiscent of the Lovely bottle - same lid, pump and colour palette - but with a few twists. The clear perfume is set against a blue backdrop that looks a little like a watercolour painting of flowers. the blue is very pretty when combined with the gold and glass combination of the bottle. Overall the effect is rather lovely - although, it doesn't particularly make me think of dawn. Weirdly enough the Twilight perfume (was she genuinely creating these for Stephenie Meyer fans?) is an orangey colour more suited to dawn whilst this blue is probably a better fit for the name twilight.
The fragrance is fresh and clean and does not disappoint on the first sniff. Like her other perfumes I find them classic, feminine and fresh - which is exactly what I look for in a perfume. The perfume has notes of citrus, angelica, violet leaves, orchid, vanilla, orris, oakmoss, vetiver and musk. I have to say the smell is not a particularly woody or musky one - it smells light and fresh with a floral edge, but I prefer it that way as I hate heavy musky smelling scents.
I actually bought this perfume from Wilkinsons last year and it was extremely cheap - I can't remember exactly what but this fragrance and twilight were both under £10 each. I do remember thinking it was an absolute bargain. My only issue with the perfume is that I didn't find it particularly enduring. The smell is lovely but lasts no longer than a couple of hours. As a result you would probably need to carry it with you and reapply which is not ideal.
A lovely day perfume at an affordable price - just make sure you reapply regularly.
When it comes to fragrances they really are something I love to treat myself to and due to that fact I I own plenty of them. Recently, with Christmas and Valentines day just gone I recieved plenty but also sales have been alive and kicking for ages now and I spotted this in my Freemans catalogue for £20.00 for a 30ml bottle (do check online for this though I have since seen it costing £10.00 for the same size bottle on various sites) and that is why I ended up with it.
I bought this without ever smelling it before hand to be honest too. I simply fancied it as I already owned Covet and Twilight of Sarah Jessica Parkers and love them so felt this was worth taking a risk on, afterall if I didn't like it my bestmate/flatmate would be sure to as we have completely the opposite tastes in everything!
The perfume comes in a light blue box with darker blue flowers etched on and then on the front of that we are told that it is Dawn, Sarah Jessica Parker 'The Lovely Collection', Eau De Parfum Spray and that it is 30ml in size (other sizes are also available in this scent). Other information on the rest of the box includes ingredients and contact details for Coty (the manufacturer of the product). The bottle is squarish in shape, clear and rather plain and we are simply told what it is in black writing on the front of it and through the back of the bottle there is a dark blue pattern of flowers shown once again. The sprayer is bright gold in colour and is push button and the lid is clear plastic with grooves in it and round in shape. It looks a very simple bottle but classy enough whilst a little olde worlde rather than modern and I like it well enough!
The Scent Itself:
This fragrance was created in cooperation with perfumer Stephen Nilsen of Givaudan along with Sarah Jessica Parker for Coty and the artwork (outer box) was also designed by Sarah Jessica Parker with Jon Dinapoli using art work by fashion illustrator Sara Singh in 2009.
This is meant to be a fresh and uplifting scent, I read that before it arrived to me and I have to really agree that it is. This is simply a gorgeous scent that I can't imagine anyone, of any age disliking even if it wasn't there perfume of choice, so to me I would recommend to buy this if your not sure what to buy a woman in your life a gift as its a kinda safe option!
The scent is a clear unsticky liquid and it sprays out easily onto the skin and although I think of this as a breezy sort of fresh scent I feel you don't have to go too mad applying this at all.
It is a beautiful blend of a cocktail of citrus aromas with angelica and violet leaves, orchid, and a drydown of Tahitian vanilla, orris, oakmoss, vetiver and musk and to me this really does smell of gentle but sweet and natural vanilla blended with flowers that gently waft over that vanilla taking the edge off it somewhat. Whatever it is, it really is a feminine and romantic aroma, soft but clean scent and luckily for me I can't detect citrus aromas to this at all which I tend not to appreciate in scents though I would guess it does have citrus notes which sort of push out the other ingredients within this.
This is a sophisticated fragrance that really is incredibly well blended and once sprayed on I find this to stay on my skin scented for a good couple of hours though this really is a not in your face fragrance and is meant to simply linger on the skin, whihc it does to perfection in my opinion.
I think this is simply gorgeous and I feel really womanly wearing this one. I love the musky base this has to it with flowers and vanilla blended into it that gives it a Kameleon feel and it always smells slightly different every time I sniff it when its on! A really love perfume once again from SJP!
