~* Special Present *~
Last year I saw my brother who I haven't seen in over nine years. As it was my birthday, he bought me a little gift which turned out to be this perfume. I am not the biggest fan of perfume - I only have five bottles of it and don't wear it often as I prefer body sprays for day to day wear, but nevertheless I was pleased with my gift because it was clear that he had put a lot of effort into choosing it for me.
~* Price *~
As I said, I received this as a gift so didn't buy it. I must admit, I was curious as to how much it had cost my brother and on the same day that h gave me it I looked up the price on the Internet! As soon as I saw the price I texted him telling him off for spending so much money on me - he's only sixteen and must have saved up for quite some time considering the price of this perfume! I have the 50ml bottle, which retails at a pretty shocking £52.50, though I am anew that some perfume websites sell it for a discounted price. I am not sure if there are other bottle sizes avail led but there more than likely is.
~* Bottle Design *~
The bottle design, though not particularly girlie or that attractive (in my honest opinion) really shows how expensive this is, as it looks really solid and well made. Oddly, my initial thought upon seeing it was it was that it reminded me of a vintage style liquor bottle! It is made from very strong and sturdy glass, which you can tell is thick and solid. The glass is a dark shade of purple - it is very dark, almost black in some lights. There is a silver band around the neck of the bottle which says Stella. I would prefer a brighter coloured bottle with a more feminine design, but because I like the scent the bottle doesn't bother me that much.
~* Fragrance Notes *~
Rose, peony and mandarin essence make up the top notes while the middle note consists of rose absolute. Amber is the base note. The product description states that the perfume 'captures the essence of the rose'. The perfume is described as being voluptuous, captivating, sensual and feminine.
~* My Opinion *~
This is one of the most expensive perfumes that I own, and I keep it for special occasions. I have only worn in a handful of times so far, but I really love the fragrance and it is one of my favourites as it has the kind of fragrance which makes me feel all grown up and classy. Though very different from my other perfumes (which are mainly pop star endorsed eg Britney Spears fantasy) I still like it, and I think it has a special kind of smell, like you can tell it is expensive and classy.
I am nineteen and at first thought it smelt slightly too mature - not grannyish, but it reminded me of something my mum would choose. I was expecting a light, fresh rose fragrance, but it is a surprisingly heavy and musky fragrance which is very strong and has a little depth. It doesn't really have much sweetness to it, and it certainly no where near being sickly or anything, which at first I found disappointing as I love extremely sweet, candy like perfumes, but then again it is nice to have a more 'grown up' perfume.
Though it has amber in the notes, I can't say that I've ever had a whiff of amber - probably because I have no idea what amber smells like. The smell is just a very feminine, classy fragrance which I think is best for special occasions, especially romantic dinners and my fiancé has complemented me on the smell of this, saying that I smelt amazing. The rose fragrance isn't the typical rose sort of scent as it is deeper and stronger - not quite as sweet. It is not really a summery perfume and I think it is best for the colder weather because it has a warm, almost comforting kind of smell if that makes sense.
The lasting power is excellent and I find that a couple of sprays on my wrists is more than enough and I have to be careful not to put too much on as it is quite a strong and bold perfume, which can easily become very overpowering. It lasts all day long and lingers on clothes for several days.
~* All in All *~
The bottle design could be improved a bit, however this is a nice smelling perfume which smells very expensive and makes me feel posh and grown up! I would not buy it with my own money as it is quite expensive but I'm glad my brother bought it for me, and I'd recommend it.
I absolutely love this perfume, I have always been more inclined to go for fruity fragrances but this has a very light long lasting scent to it, as I always find some perfumes can be very over powering or you cant smell within half an hour; and everyone has complimented this perfume every time I wear it
I find it so hard to find a scent that I feel comfortable wearing. I find so many scents overwhelming over sickly, but Stella McCartney: Rose Absolute is just perfect. For those who think the classic 'rose' smell is just for Grannies, think again! Stella McCartney is a young, fresh designer, and this is reflected in her perfumes too. This fragrance is light enough to be worn in the summer, but classic enough to wear out in the evening too. I often get complemented when I war this perfume, so look out for it if you feel fed up with your old scent.
A 30ml bottle of this perfume will last me months so I don't mind splashing out and spending £30 on a bottle. Plus it's a really convenient size to carry with you. The glass bottle itself is really sturdy, so you don't need to be afraid of it breaking in your toiletry bag or suitcase. Look out for the stella gift sets you can buy in Boot's at Christmas time, they are often reduced in the January sales. This year I bout a set for £20 which included 30ml bottle of absolute with matching body milk that compliments the scent beautifully! What a bargain!
Ive always loved stella mccartneys perfumes, they always have a lovelly smell, and ive been buying them for years. This year my partner bought me her new scent rose absolute. Its not cheap at £30 a bottle, and is very popular on sites such as ebay etc, so i wouldnt imagine you could get this much cheaper than this. I had the 100ml bottle, but you can get the 50ml and 30ml in this scent.
The bottle itself is purple and the lid has a silver band around it with the word stella imprinted on it, its a good size bottle for your handback, though the glass is quite heavy. The smaller 30ml bottle comes in a rather fetching diamond design, and is extrmely cute.
The scent is very similar to the scent stella, but a little more floral and delicate and alot less sweet. I think i prefer this scent to stella by stella, as its not so strong. The scent seems to last a few hours, so a 100ml bottle should last you quite a few months. The scent is always one that seems to get peoples attentions, and even the fussiest of my family members seem to agree with the smell.
Id definetely recommend this perfume, but the one criticism is it is far to similar to her first perfume and this is a little dissappointing. I do find it quite hard to believe that a new perfume is released that is practically the same as her first perfume. I'd say if you have loads of stella by stella left, dont buy this perfume until you run out, or you'll be dissappointed.
This is aeally plesant, floral/musk perfume. Its not as heavy as the original scent, the rose absolute seems to be much lighter and in my view, less sickly sweet.
Its also very good at keeping its scent alive throughout the day. Normally I use Calvin Klien and while the fragrence is really good, CKone for example, I have to re-apply about 6 hours after my first application.
With Stella's Absolute Rose, I usually spray about 4 sprays, no more, and its still there at the end of the day. Even when I go to wash my clothes 3 or 4 days later !! its a really nice fragrence though, so the fact it stays it is a bonus.
It comes in several different fors, a purse spay, a small spray and a large spray, I wouldnt be suprized if there are also limited edition bottles available too as Stella tends to revamp stuff alot.
I have yet to find anyone who cannot stand this spray, it seems to agree with everyone, though if your into your deep heavy musks its probably not your thing.
