I bought this using a discount code on the Body Shop website, the discount code was 40% off which is quite a big saving, along with free delivery this worked out as a bargain. It is meant to cost £7 but I paid £4.20. The Body shop do good offers and release discount codes very often and that's the only time I order from them as a lot of the things they sell can be quite pricey when they are full priced. I really like The Body Shop because they sell lovely things. There are some real bargains to be had and I think their products are great quality.
The packaging is a small, round shaped, clear glass bottle. It has a white lid with a little dabber thing inside it. The bottle is only 15mls but this means it is easy to carry around and not bulky or anything. The bottle is very simple which I don't mind, especially for something so small. The Body Shop do tend to use very simple packaging, their perfumes are always in regular glass bottles. Around the neck of this bottle, there is a pink label which says the name of the product and some information. The label has pictures of roses and it says that this perfume oil is alcohol free which is such a good factor for a perfume to have, in my opinion.
To use this, you can either apply it using the dabber to dot it onto your wrist or press the bottle against your skin and turn it upside down and then the right way up again. It's simple and easy so you can apply it while you're out and about, especially because it is so compact and not heavy at all because it's such a tiny bottle. Even though the bottle is small though, you don't need to use much at all, just a couple of drops. Because it's an eau de parfum and not an eau de toilette it means it is a more concentrated scent, not watered down.
I was slightly unsure about what to expect with this because I really didn't want an old-fashioned rose scent. Luckily, when I first applied this, the first thing I noticed was how fresh the scent was. There is a strong rose fragrance that you can instantly smell, this is definitely the main note, which it should be as this is a rose perfume. The rose is not old-fashioned, it's very fresh and very floral, it smells like the freshest roses and it is a very vibrant scent. Next, there is a citrus note which adds some tanginess to this and makes it very refreshing and a great perfume for the summer. The citrus smell isn't lemony which is a good thing in my opinion, instead of being a strong and overpowering or even a sour citrus, it blends with the rose absolutely perfectly and lifts the whole perfume up. There is a lighter white musk note to this, like the white musk perfume by The Body Shop. I think this adds a kind of clean cotton smell to this which I absolutely adore. It goes so, so well with the other notes and add some crispness and a very clean scent, it's pretty simple but I think it turns this into something special.
This lasts for 2-4 hours, it fades but a very slight scent is still there at the end of the day. Luckily, it's easy to take anywhere with you and reapply it whenever you want. It's really not a long lasting scent in my opinion but it does have a bit of staying power. Also you can apply a little bit more than usual if you want a stronger scent. Even applying quite a few more drops, the bottle still lasts a while (I've had mine for 5 months and still have a fair amount left) and also it doesn't become too strong or overpowering when you apply extra.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes the type of scent described above. I would always recommend waiting for a discount code for The Body Shop to get some good savings. Because I really liked this perfume oil, I have now bought the matching spray and I like to layer them. This is part of the Scents Of The World collection. There are a few different scents in this range and they are available in perfume oils, eau de toilette sprays, body sprays, shower gel and body lotion.
The Body Shop definitely sell most of my favourite beauty products and I particularly like to wear their fragrances for everyday perfumes which they all seem to be perfectly suited for. So, when I found The Body Shop were launching a new fragrance collection I was quick to get down to my nearest store and investigate coming back with a bottle of this Atlas Mountain Rose Perfume Oil.
This perfume oil is part of the recent 'scents of the world' collection. The Japanese Cherry Blossom, Madagascan Vanilla and Indian Midnight Jasmin scents in this range appear to just be new names and packaging for items which have since been discontinued but, along with these, are two completely new scents being Amazonian Wild Lily and Atlas Mountain Rose.
Actually this Atlas Mountain Rose scent was the one which sounded least appealing to me out of the whole collection although I quickly changed my mind went I picked up a tester bottle in store and found it to be my favourite. There's a shower gel, body lotion, fragrance mist and Eau De Toilette in this scent as well as my chosen bottle of perfume oil. I opted for the perfume oil as I tend to find this lasts a lot longer than eau de toilettes and my 15ml bottle cost £7 which I thought to be a very reasonable price.
The perfume oil comes in a small round glass bottle with flat bottom so it can still stand up. The bottle has the white The Body Shop logo on the front as well 'perfume oil' written in small white font. Around the neck of the bottle is a pink tag which tells us this is the Atlas Mountain Rose scent and that the perfume oil is alcohol free. There's a white plastic lid on top which unscrews to reveal a long plastic strip which has been sat in the perfume oil and you apply the fragrance using this. The appearance of the bottle is simple and delicate looking, very appealing to me.
Unscrewing the lid reveals the scent of this and what a beautiful scent that is! It's very floral with a distinctive rose scent to it. I do find that a lot of rose scented products can smell a little old fashioned although this isn't the case here. This scent is one that people of all ages can easily get away with wearing and has a slightly sweeter smell to it than the typical rose scent.
To apply the fragrance you simply have to unscrew the lid and then rub the plastic application stick contained within the lid onto the desired part of the body. The stick is quite soft and flexible it's not uncomfortable to use and makes it easy to apply the perfume to any part of the skin. Typically I apply this to the inside of my wrists, neck and, when they're on show, the back of my knees. I find dipping the stick in once is enough to do both wrists with another dip required for both knees and another for both sides of my neck. The perfume oil lasts for absolutely ages. I purchased my bottle around a month ago and have been wearing this pretty regularly ever since and the oil still looks untouched. It doesn't seem to have gone down any at all! So that £7 is excellent value for money in my opinion even if you are only getting 15ml of oil.
The scent is a light one but is still easily detectable for around three hours after application. After this time I still get the occasional waft when my wrists are near my face but you do have to get quite close to be able to smell it and after about six hours it's pretty much gone. I find the staying power and strength of this suited for every day wear. It's not a perfume I'd wear to go out but it's perfect just for shopping or going to work.
My only problem with it is that you can only apply it your skin when I like to add fragrance to my clothes as well just to make it a little stronger and last longer. Fortunately I've found that teaming this up with the fragrance oil of the same scent allows me to easily spritz on a light layer of this same scent onto my clothes and hair which sorts that problem out straight away. This also allows me to top up the fragrance when it starts to weaken.
Personally I love this perfume oil. It's a lovely scent perfect for everyday wear and has decent staying power, it'll probably take about a year before I need to replace this too meaning it's an excellent price and I thoroughly recommend it.
