The Body Shop Dreams Unlimited Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Powerful and unique.
Disadvantages: May be too strong for some people.
I received this product, the Dreams Unlimited Eau De Parfum by The Bodyshop, as a gift from a friend who knows how much I love using this brand's products. Although I currently use many of the brand's products including their make-up range, bath and shower range and moisturisers I haven't bought any of their perfumes recently. The last time I did I was probably about 18 years old and getting deep into a hippy phase. The Bodyshop has changed a lot since then and now they sell fragrances that don't just appeal to sandal wearing hipsters but which are suitable for all personality types and ages.
This product comes boxed and in mine is in a 50ml full sized bottle. The bottle is heavy glass and shaped like a raindrop through which you can see the water coloured liquid. The shape of the bottle actually makes it look like a magical potion which is fairly apt considering the name of the fragrance. It has a silver top with a standard pump button on top. The font is bold and simple with no other markings on the bottle itself. It's a very simple and elegant design which I like. The bottle is quite a weight though so it's not ideal for carrying in a handbag.
When you press the pump dispenser the perfume is ejected as an ultra fine mist/squirt. It actually reaches about 17 inches away but you should hold it slightly closer to the skin to direct to a particular area.
I had never tested this perfume prior to first use so I tested it on one wrist and on my neck. I'm prone to spraying my perfumes quite heavily but this Dreams Unlimited is so powerful that you really only need one application of it at each point you want to wear it.
This perfume, which was officially launched in 2010, is described as a blend of "citrus, green chilli and white flowers" with other notes of "orange, blackcurrant and iris" and it carries the tag line "believe in your dreams". I think that is a brave statement and the perfume embodies this sense of confidence and energy very well. I find the scent to be very thick and intoxicating with a smoky blend of spices and essential oils. It's a very strong, heady perfume which makes you feel like you are lost in a cloud of rich, spellbinding notes. Through the misty spices there is a clean tone of what smells like lemon or lime (but which is probably the orange notes) which cuts through with a sweet, sugary power and which feels very feminine. As the perfume settles on your skin there is also a sense of there being a bed of wildflowers around you. Overall this is a very unique and complex fragrance which enchants, soothes and mostly reaffirms your sense of self-confidence. This perfume is like a mantra for that force.
I don't think everyone will like this perfume due to the fact that it is quite powerful and it has very strong notes like a raging firestorm. The perfume does take on a much more mellow character after being on your skin for a while but is still very prominent and noticeable all of the time. Those low notes continually burn! I also feel that this perfume is perhaps best suited to people of an older age. I'd say perhaps it might be a little too aromatic for teens to appreciate. It doesn't feel like a girl's perfume as it is so complicated and the intensity of the fragrance carries a sexual message too.
I really like the perfume. I am happy to have received it as a gift and would happily give it to others as a gift too. I would definitely buy it in the future although currently this perfume is not appearing on the website. I have seen other products in the Dreams Unlimited range such as body butters and would certainly consider trying them to double the luxury!
