This was my 100% pure favourite when I was growing up, when I first started getting into perfumes.
I wore this and three others from The Body Shop on rotation between the ages of 10 and 14, until I discovered the wider World of Perfume.
Oceanus was my preferred of the four, it seemed to speak to me of everything I wanted to be - cool, calm, a free spirit and of course, beautiful and happy. I FELT like all of the above, just from wearing it (hey, I was a kid!)
I learnt recently that Oceanus is infact a unisex fragrance. Needless to say, it's top notes are and water lily; middle notes are violet, jasmine, lily, rose and geranium; base notes are sandalwood and musk. Looking at these ingredients, I can see how that's the case.
I rediscovered this in my room recently and all of my childhood memories, thoughts and feelings, came flooding back. I felt so nostalgic that I went out wearing it, and three separate people (in an 8 hour timeframe) asked me what I was wearing. It's clearly long lasting.
It's also 100% alcohol-free, great for sensitive skin!
I don't know if I'd wear it more than that though - now I'm older and wiser - but it's definitely a holiday scent, or at least for those seeking a fresh, fun scent as an alternative to high-end perfumes.
As with all The Body Shop body lotions, this was easily absorbed into the skin, made it feel soft and left no greasy residue. They have a good formula, and it works well so why change it? As part of a skin CARE programme, their body lotion is a must!
Oceanus is not one of my favourite of their fragrances, but it is not a bad fragrance, just not one which appeals personally to me. As with all The Body Shop's fragrances though, it is not overpowering and has a clean, fresh smell - it doesn't remind me of the sea, which is what I expected given it's name. It evoked memories in me, in some deep far-off time. Something like the old smell of Persil laundry detergent when I was small (I'm 45 now, so it's been quite a while). And that was not meant as a cut-down, I have fond memories of childhood smells. It's not overpowering though, and softens into an ok smell, I think.
Overall, if you like this scent then enjoy it. The body lotion is an excellent way to wear it, and protects your skin at the same time, thanks to it's blend of emollients. A good product, the fragrance just isn't quite what I like to wear.
I love to pamper myself it makes me feel good and look good, giving me more self -confidence about myself. I love all body shop products I have a lot of the oceanus products which I received in a gift pack and I can?t believe anyone hasn?t wrote an opinion on the bath and shower gel yet, so here goes. Like most of the body shop bath and shower gels it lathers up well, I find it is best used with a loofah, which gently cleanses my skin. It is aqua in color and the color alone is refreshing. The smell is light, crisp and fresh and there?s a subtle sweetness about it. To make the smell last longer I use the Oceanus body lotion followed by the Oceanus Eau de toilette. I feel very refreshed after having a bath with this and because this product contains community traded camomile oil it makes me feel calm and relaxed. The Oceanus bath and shower gel is suitable for all skin types, I got a 60ml plastic bottle in my gift pack which lasted me for six or seven weeks, but I know you are able to purchase 100ml and 200ml bottles, when I know the price to these I will update you.
I'm not one to buy expensive perfumes (as I'm sure my other opinions show!), and The Body Shop just prove the point that spending 30 quid on a small bottle of chemicals is simply a waste of cash when you can buy a decent pong from there! Oceanus has been my favourite for rather a long time, because i'm not a very flowery girl. This one, whilst being feminine, isn't too flowery, but is still really pleasant. As I smell it now I can't really explain what it smells of, only that it's subtle, slightly fruity, and smells like perfume. Sounds silly, but you won't believe how many there are out there that don't! I have a slight problem now, because I hate anything greasy on my skin, I find it annoying beyond belief. Oceanus comes in many different forms, such as perfume oil and eau de toilette, not to mention the standard bubble bath and talc The Body Shop makes too. I've got everything, but of course here i'm talking about the perfume. Obviously there is more perfume in the eau de toilette, but you need to use more because it's not as concentrated as the oil. So, in terms of "cash per smell", it's prerry even. Now, even though the "smell" is supposedly the same in both the spray and the oil (both being Oceanus!), I much much prefer the oil, because it's less fresh and slightly more "warm" and deep a smell. The spray is a little immature and smells a bit manky. Plus, the oil is longer lasting. Moving on to my "oil phobia"...it's fine because the perfume oil isn't greasy at all, which is such a blessing. I'd definitely recommend this as a replacement for all those expensive perfumes you can buy, because it's just as nice, and really cheap (plus it comes in a handbag sized bottle!).
It's my mums birthday tomorrow and I've been looking for something to buy her. I thought of jewellery, chocolate and the usual but then I passed the Body Shop and thought well they have a big range so I'll go there. I walked in and the lovely scents fill the shop, I usually take a while looking at things like soaps and body sprays to find a nice smell, but the packaging and beatiful colour of the Oceanus bottles caught my eye. I went to the Oceanus eau de toilette and looked at it then I smelt it and it was a lovely fresh smell it had. A water sort of smell, just like the ocean. I went to the desk and asked the prices, unfortuantely where I was they didn't have an Oceanus gift set which meant I had to pay more to buy everything separately. I was going to at first get the eau de toilette, body spray and bath and shopwer gel, but I then thought the eau de toilette and body spray were a bit similar. I thought more as something to use in the bath so I looked and then decided to get the Oceanus body powder (£2.50), bath & shower gel (£3.50) and body spray (£4.25). The set is bigger and I am sure my mum will love it. The Oceanus range is a great gift, a smell most will like and also it's not really expensive because I'm sure you'll get good use out of it.
Fresh fragrance suitable for any occasion, any time of the year. I was given an Oceanus gift set as a present and what a nice gift it made. The set I got had a Body Spray and eau de toilette but I have since bought the shower gel as well. Oceanus body spray is very refreshing and suitable for everyday use, wear it together with the eau de toilette for a stronger and longer lasting smell. The shower gel is great as again as it gives a lovely clean and mild aroma and lathers very well. The Body Shop sells a wide range of gift sets of this product. Prices start at 1.99 so is ideal as a little extra or even for children to buy as gifts for grandparent's etc. The set I received was in a plastic container with aqua blue water inside, This then had small coloured pebbles on the bottom and the products displayed on the top of them. I don't like gift sets that don't have a purpose, I think the basket sets are such a waste of money because there isn't a lot you can do with them. That why this set was ideal as you can you use the container for storing bottles or for keeping your cotton wool balls tidy. For 12.00 I would say a very good and useful buy. This product contains Aqua, Perfume Glycerin and panthanol.
