The Body Shop White Musk Eau de Toilette
by bringingsexyback
WHAT IS IT?
A bottle of perfume from The Body Shop. White Musk is one of the fragrances that The Body Shop is well known for and it is a classic perfume that has been available for many years.
THE BOTTLE
I like the White Musk perfume bottle very much. It is an unusual shape with a very wide lid that ... looks like a hat on top of a classic round bottle. The bottle is coloured purple on the bottom but it fades to clear at the top. It is a spray bottle and dispenses a mist of perfume for each time I spray it.
THE FRAGRANCE
White musk is musk with flowers, it is not a very strong perfume but I think it has got a nice smell that is stronger as people come closer to me.
TOP NOTES: LILY, MUSK, GALBANUM, BASIL, YLANG YLANG
I can smell ylang ylang strongly in White Musk and that is right from when I first spray it on. I can smell musk and that is obvious but I think that the lily and galbanum do not stand out on their own and are a mixed up flowery smell. I cannot smell basil but I think that it is what helps to make the musk softer than in other perfumes.
MIDDLE NOTES: LILY, MUSK, ROSE, JASMINE
I can smell all of these notes and the perfume gets a smell that is like perfumed body powder. The musk does not change in the perfume and I like that the smell of rose is so strong because it is feminine and very beautiful. The jasmine fragrance is weak but has power for a short time.
BASE NOTES: IRIS, AMBER, PATCHOULI, MUSK, VANILLA, PEACH, OAKMOSS, JASMINE, VETIVER, ROSE
I can not smell all of these and I am shocked that White Musk has got so many base notes because it is a very easy perfume that does not have very many smells in it. I think the peach gives it a sweet smell and so does the vanilla but White Musk is sweet all of the way through and this is not just at the end.
WHAT I THINK
I like White Musk because it is not a difficult perfume and because it smells so beautiful also. It lasts for the time I thought it would and that is not a long or short time but it is just right I think.
It lasts on my clothing for a long time and I like that. I put some on my yesterday and I can still smell it on the edge of my cost where I sprayed it at the wrong angle.

The Body Shop Love Etc Eau de Toilette
by ChemicalRomance
I was introduced to this perfume a long time ago, by a friend of mine who's now moved to Australia - she was a big fan of The Body Shop from a very young age, funded by parents I suspect but for I think a birthday a very long time ago she bought me a bottle of this perfume and I've been hooked ever since. Hooked on Body Shop perfumes as ... well as the rest of the Body Shop products but I always had my eye on more expensive perfumes - it took me a long time to persuade my other half to get me the perfume I really love, but in the meantime I had a lot of birthday and christmas gifts containing this perfume and to be honest it kept me going brilliantly and even to this day I still love this perfume!
~*~ The Body Shop ~*~
The Body Shop is a cosmetic and body care store that has been around since 1976, and currently has over 2000 stores across over 60 countries - so you'll not be short of places to find one if you're on holiday! A company, that is cruelty free, natural and environmentally minded - you'll be hard to miss one on the high street, because even the smell of the place just from walking past it makes you want to go in. From body butters, to perfumes, cosmetics, they have some of the best hand cream I've ever used - and you can get yourself a mini make over in there for the price of an item of make-up, what more can you ask for! The fact that everytime I walk past the store I get a whiff of whatever scent they are championing that day - it lures me in everytime, I'm such an easy draw to The Body Shop!
~*~ Love ETC ~*~
This perfume is one that I've had for a number of years, and seems to be somewhat of a classic Body Shop fragrance, now I have seen it in store recently - but I came to have a look on The Body Shop website as I have £30 off a £60 spend, and it's not on the site anymore, I'm hoping that it's not about to come to an end of production because it's a beautiful scent that I did think was actually quite popular, but as a word of warning just in case I manage to persuade anyone that this perfume is as amazing smelling as I think it is and that you want one - that you may struggle to get hold of it on The Body Shop website. Which is a shame, because I wanted to buy some today, because my bottle is empty and I want to smell nice!
As with the majority of Body Shop perfumes the bottles are really quite plain and simple, which is I guess part of the reason they are nowhere near as expensive as the perfumes that have lots of extras on the bottles. For me to be fair I don't need a fancy bottle to make a perfume attractive, admittedly they look good on a shelf but to me perfume is about the smell inside rather than what it looks like. This bottle has a plain square base, with tapered sides so it's wider at the top than at the bottom - all the way up the bottle though it has really quite thick glass, so don't worry too much if you drop it because my bottles have been dropped copious amounts of times and yet I've not smashed one! The lid is a nice rose gold colour, it's obviously just a metal lid but it's a better colour than just plain silver - it pulls off to reveal a push spray nozzle, it's only a small top, but it does spray out a more than ample amount of perfume - and out of all the bottles I've had I can safely say I've never had a problem with it spraying out or getting blocked, so that shows quality. It's written on the side what it is, so you'll not wonder which perfume it is once you've taken it out of the white box with multi coloured hearts all over it - it's a really nice box actually, pity unless you've got unlimited space it gets ruined by other things, or other people in my house actually.
This perfume contains; Vanilla, Jasmine and Sandalwood according to The Body Shop website - there are other scents mixed in there as well, but given that I'm not someone who knows every scent under the sun I won't pretend that I know everything that is contained in this perfume. I do feel that there is probably a bit of musk in there as well, but that seems to be the same with a lot of Body Shop fragrances actually, someone did tell me a little while ago when I was wearing it that it had a hint of Bergamot in it, which until I smelt that alone I didn't realise - as I said not the biggest perfume connoisseur in the world! The vanilla on me is very obvious actually, it seems on my skin that the sweeter scents seem to come out very prominently - and that everyone can smell them, even if the perfume is not overly sweet the scents that are sweet and sticky come out on my skin, and I love it - my other half loves me smelling really sweet too, but sometimes it can get a little too sickly, which is nice because you have the other notes of fruity scents to make sure it doesn't get overly sickly.
The scent I was reliably informed about which I've been told is bergamot, is a citrus scent that you may have smelt without realising, which is apparently what I've been doing for a few years - which is silly considering upon looking a lot of my perfumes contain it, it's not the biggest scent to this perfume though I have personally found that the jasmine and sandalwood combination feels like the strongest scents. The jasmine is a very strong scent - but if you've got a perfume with jasmine in you'll already know that, it's got a very strong scent that is sweet but floral at the same time; it's a scent that sticks around for a long time, so at the same time as having a lovely vanilla scent to my skin the jasmine mixes well to keep me smelling sweet but floral at the same time. The sandalwood, to me in this perfume is a very subtle scent that if you spend a long time sniffing the perfume you will smell, or just as it's wearing off skin you'll get a whiff of this woody scent, that just builds on the sweetness of the perfume over all. I'm sure there is probably more scents in the bottle, but there's nothing more that I can smell, this scent to me is a beautiful sweet smell - with nice floral undertones that has good staying power!
This scent though to me really probably should only be worn in spring and summer when there is a lot of floral scents in the air, because it's already quite a sweet smell and the floral air would compliment it well. I find that when I wear it in the winter it just feels too overpowering, unless it's a windy day, because it is a strong perfume that in the winter you need more spicy scents rather than the sweet ones that give you that lovely summery feeling. On a winters day if I do decide to wear this perfume, it will last all day on a very strong scent - but in summer if it's hot you'll find that the scent doesn't last all that long, well it does last but it blends in well with the air so you don't notice it as much. I do however find on fabrics the smell does last a long time, so when I've got a scarf on and I've sprayed this perfume it lingers for a long time, and it does make people notice you're wearing perfume actually - I've had lots of people ask me what the perfume I'm wearing is when I'm wearing this, and because of this I've turned a few of my friends into lovers of this perfume, which means we'll all be a bit disappointed if it's being taken out of production
I've only ever had 30 ml bottles of this perfume, but originally it came in 50 ml bottles too - my 30 ml bottles will last me a good couple of months of wearing it daily and applying a couple of times a day especially in the summer. Considering it was around £10 a bottle for 30 ml I wasn't really spending a lot a month on smelling great!
~*~ Price and Availability ~*~
This perfume is available from - The Body Shop in store only at the moment as I've said I'm not sure if it's going to come back available online or if they are thinking about discontinuing the perfume, either way it was around £10 a bottle. Though even if they stop selling it in store as well as online, you'll probably find it's available on eBay for a little while - so I might have to stock up before they all disappear! It's a gorgeous smelling perfume with great staying power! Read the complete review |

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist
by northernlovely
**Why Buy?**
I like to use fragrance mists day to day, rather than a heavier or muskier perfume / eau de toilette, because they provide a subtle, light scent for the office rather than an overpowering one, which it can become if everybody is smothered in scent! It's also a lot better on the pocket to wear an everyday mist ... then save your good stuff for special occasions, evenings out etc.
I chose The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist because I have the Orange Blossom and I really like it, it's a lovely scent. Based on that I went for the Cherry Blossom as I am a fan of soft florals but they have to be subtle as I don't want to smell cheap or like an air freshener.
**Price and Availability**
The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist is available priced at £6.99 in store at the Body Shop. You can also buy it online however a postage and packing charge will apply. The bottle size is 100ml.
You can also buy complimenting items in the Cherry Blossom range from soaps to body wash and moisturising cream.
**The Bottle**
For a cheaper scent, The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist comes in a very attractive bottle, much nicer than some £30+ bottles of perfume. It's a tall, thin (dare I say elegant) glass bottle with a pink decal of cherry blossom against a Japanese temple type structure. It's really pretty.
**The Spray**
The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist sprays out into a cloud of fine mist, it's lovely to give a light and subtle covering to the skin. One squirt is enough for me, so a bottle goes a long long way. There's no drips, just a decent quality pump spray which is solid and easy to use.
The spray liquid itself is clear in colour.
**The Scent**
I can only describe the scent of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist as a very light, sweet floral. It would appeal to anyone, young and old, given that it's not overpowering, not lavendery, not too dark. I really like it, it's very appealing and I do get a lot of compliments on it and people asking me what I am wearing - given that it's not a well known scent by today's designer standards people are often pleasantly surprised to find my scent is an easily obtainable and affordable high street body mist.
The scent lasts well, too, I can still smell traces of it in my hair and clothing at the end of the working day - again, unlike some designer brands. I'd describe it as subtle not overpowering which if you do work like me in a confined environment is best as you don't want to be known as the one with cloying air-freshener scent on day in day out!
**Recommend?**
Yes, I highly recommend The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist and will be reviewing it at a 5 out of 5 star score as I am pleased that the range I am sticking with continues to pay dividends for me in terms of decent every day pleasant smelling mists.
It would make a nice gift (possibly along with some of the other items from the Cherry Blossom range) and is very much an all round scent. The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist is a lovely scent which I alternate with the Orange Blossom scent, and always have a nice, fresh aroma without being too much (both in scent and in price!)
I can't wait to try other Body Shop mists and the complimenting items in this scent range. Read the complete review |
