Thierry Mugler Angel Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Some people might like it, long lasting
Disadvantages: Bitter scent is not for me, bottle does not stand on its own, dark in colour, expensive
I received a sample of Thierry Mugler Angel eau de parfum at a wedding fair. I am surprised to learn that this fragrance was first released in 1992.
The box claims that the sample size is 1,2ml or 0.04 Fl. Oz. This sounds incredibly small to me. The sample came in a little spray bottle the size of my little finger.
The little box that it came in says, 'magnified with bitter cocoa powder'.
When I sprayed this onto my skin the liquid was noticeably dark against my skin, but when rubbed in you can't see where you have sprayed it. I would be concerned if I accidentally sprayed this on my clothes though, due to its dark appearance.

~ Bottle ~
The bottle that Angel usually comes in is an angular star shaped bottle in a bluey purple coloured glass. It is unique and different to any other perfume bottle that I have seen. Personally, I dislike the star shaped bottle as it does not stand up on its own and has to be laid down on its side, which is something that I would find awkward and irritating. Although it is unique, I don't find that the bottle is particularly beautiful or feminine.
~ Scent ~
The scent is very strong and I find it very harsh and bitter. To be honest, it does not remind me of cocoa powder at all.
This perfume has top notes of melon, coconut, mandarin orange, cassia, jasmine, bergamot and cotton candy, heart notes of honey, apricot, blackberry, plum, orchid, peach, lily-of-the-valley, red berries and rose and base notes of Tonka bean, amber, patchouli, musk, vanilla, dark chocolate and caramel.
From the list of notes I would expect this to be a rather fruity perfume and I'd imagine it would be a perfume that would really appeal to me.
It isn't an offensive scent which I personally find with some spicy scents, which I struggle to put up with. It is heavy and harsh and I don't really like it, favouring light and fruity or delicate floral fragrances. I do not find this fragrance fruity. I think those notes are overpowered by the harsh bitterness which dominates the fragrance.
I have found this to be long lasting and have been able to smell it many hours after spraying, but in this case I don't find that to be a good point.
I think this perfume would probably appeal to younger women in their 20's or 30's, who have different tastes to me.
~ Overall ~
Overall, this perfume isn't for me. It is bitter and harsh and not to my tastes despite me finding the list of fruity notes very appealing.
I would not buy this perfume for myself or as a gift (unless it was specifically requested).
If you are interested in purchasing this perfume I'd strongly recommend trying before you buy as the harsh scent will not be for everyone.
