Thierry Mugler's Angel for men is one of my favourite aftershaves, having recently fallen in love with its warming intense scent. I had seen this aftershave many times before receiving it as a gift. I never thought anything of it so never bothered to try it. But now I am in love with this aftershave, and am going to have to buy a bottle myself when I run out.
Aftershave bottles come in all shapes and sizes, and it is this design which partially attracts us towards them. I cannot say that this aftershave has an outstanding design, or I would have tried it months ago. However, the bottle is simplistic and functional. You can either get this aftershave in pure glass bottles with the Angel star carved into the front, or the same bottle within a rubber casing. The rubber casing is great as it provides some protection to the bottle. On top of the rubber casing is a soft button to release the spray, which comes out as a fine mist giving good coverage.
This aftershave has a lovely warming scent to it. As you first spray it on, the smell is different to what lasts. Having given it a minute to settle, musky cedar wood and incense smells come through with base notes of chocolate and caramel. It is a reasonably intense-smelling aftershave compared to others and this is what, for me, gives it a long-lasting scent. It certainly likes my skin, but you will have to try it on your own to see. Considering the reasonable intensity, you don't need to be overly generous on the number of sprays you do.
*When To Wear*
I think this aftershave best suits a chilly winter's evening, as the warming intense scent will certainly bring some warmth to those around you. I also feel it is best suited as an evening or going out aftershave as opposed to daytime.
*Price & Availability*
For the EDT, a 50ml bottle will cost around £38. A 100ml bottle will set you back at almost £50, so it is not a cheap aftershave! It is available everywhere, still in production. You can buy it online or offline. If you can grab yourself a deal with this aftershave through the use of vouchers or even in duty free, I would certainly recommend making a purchase - you will not be disappointed!
One day I'll be walking the streets and smell a very pleasant and rather familiar scent, whiff off someone that walks by. It's not always the case, but sometimes I am pleased to realise that someone else is wearing this fantastic aftershave. It has a very unique and masculine aroma - one which is quite rich and radiates very nicely once it's put on. It may not be the most well-known around, but you'll certainly recognise the scent if you try it!
It comes in either a rubber bottle or glass one. The rubber bottle obviously contains a glass bottle within, and looks somewhat better as the tinted glass shows through the rubber casing. With the rubber casing, there is a soft to touch button on top, which releases the aftershave. I would say this works less well than the pure glass bottle, which has a normal spray button on top. I have the standard glass bottle, which contains the light blue aftershave giving the glass a blue tinge.
The scent is very unique and rather rich. It's one of those aftershaves that you will only have to apply a couple of sprays on yourself, as it has a rich aroma and is very long-lasting (on my skin anyway). It contains fragrances such as mint, caramel, tar and coffee. I feel it is very warming too. I would recommend it for any sort of wear - daytime or night time. I'd say it is suitable for work at an office or a formal occasion, although you may then want to go for a more traditional musky scent!
At around £40 for a 100ml bottle of the Eau De Toilette, it doesn't come cheap. However you are paying for a quality aftershave here. This aftershave, although not very widely known, is widely available in perfume shops around the UK and online. If you are soon in a perfume shop or duty free going on your summer's holiday, be sure to try this one out. Even if you are a lady, have a smell of this and see if you'd fancy it on your man! It's not the most commercial and popular aftershave, which is why it could be worth a try as it has a unique class about it. The bottle design is unique, in the style of the Angel range, and the aroma is unbeatable and of good quality.

I recently tried out this aftershave in a duty free store and it was lovely so I had to buy some. It's been out for a while but I only recently decided to get it. It smells lovely, and has a warm aroma that stays around all day long. It's very attractive and of great quality - suitable for formal events.
It comes in a glass or rubber bottle depending on which you buy. You can get a 30ml refill for around £23 or pay just over £30 for a 50ml bottle. The bottle has a rubber coating with the glass Angel star poking out. It is very different and looks great, it has a wonderful effect. On the top is a soft rubber button, which you can press down to release the spray. The aftershave comes out pretty well if you push the button hard and fast enough. A couple of sprays is plenty!
It has a very warm and distinct scent, like no other aftershave. I find it really attractive but aftershaves are quite subjective! The smell changes slightly as it dries into your skin - it becomes quite spicy but the muffled scent as you walk past someone with this on is lovely! It is quite a strong aftershave so you definitely need no more than a couple of sprays.
You can buy refils for the rubber bottle, or find a 100ml glass bottle for around £43. This isn't a bad price for 100ml, which will last you ages! I'd highly recommend this one - it's very masculine and attractive, stays on very well and has a lovely spicy and unique aroma.
Thanks for reading!
As we are approaching Christmas and its getting to that time of the year when you start to think about buying presents for our other halves I thought I'd use this review to tell you about my brand of aftershave and what I think of it. Maybe it will give you an inspiration or idea on what to buy your hubby/boyfriend if you're struggling for ideas?
I have been wearing A-Men for about 9 years now and only found out about it after my work had a perfume/aftershave stall set up one Friday from an outside company who sold tester bottles and cheap price fragrances - all legitimate I hasten to add!
I was having a browse, looking for a present for my girlfriend at that time and came across this unboxed refill tester with a blue star on the front, I sprayed a little on the back of my hand and was blown away by its scent, it immediately reminded me of burnt wood and the smell of bonfires when they have been lit for a while, a nice crackling woody fire scent which isn't too heavy but definitely a masculine scent all the same.
I asked what it was, and was told A-Men by Thierry Mugler. Never heard of him I thought, but because I liked the smell that much I bought it anyway, and that's how I first came to discover this amazing scent.
Fast forward 9 years, and like I say I still wear it to this day, I have had more people asking me what my aftershave is now than I have ever done in the past. It is very distinctive and is definitely an autumn/winter fragrance (although I wear it all year round). It does suit cold nights when you are going out for a drink or a meal and I wear it every day.
The great thing about this aftershave as well is that you don't need to put lots on, a couple of squirts are plenty and it will last you throughout the day. If I've worn a jumper or fleecy top and been out for a couple of hours before hanging it back up again the scent lingers and you notice it the next time you put that top back on.
Over the years I have received bottles as gifts for my birthday and for Christmas and I'm always grateful to receive it, you can buy it in 30,50 and 100ml flasks originally only available in a metal finish where you had to buy refills, now though it tends to be sold in the rubber flask as pictured.
For a present though if you can find a metal flask it is far nicer but you do pay more for the metal variety. Costs from £20.00 for the 30ml up to about £45.00 for the 100ml rubber flask, expect to pay over £60 for the 100ml refillable metal if you can find it though and that's buying it online!
(Just to point out here that A-Men is a blue/purple colour, not red as pictured above - that is a different scent - see further on)
Advertising blurb describes the fragrance as:
"Thierry Mugler Amen - A woody note of patchouli and Atlas cedar that expresses authenticity and elegance unfolds after the metallic purity of peppermint and lavender. In the end, A-Men's fiery woody scent reveals the explosive power of coffee and styrax enveloped in musk and tonka bean"
This is probably a better description than I can offer, although I have to say that I cannot detect any hint of peppermint or lavender in it at all and I have no idea what styrax or tonka beans are?
If you fancy a change or want to get the man in your life something different from the usual CK, Paul Smith, Beckham etc then I would certainly recommend this aftershave. It is distinctive and you will get asked what you are wearing, but if you like attention then that's a good thing - I've had both men and women ask me what it is and everyone who has smelt it on me have always given positive comments and remarks.
Just to give a bit of background about Thierry Mugler; he is a fashion designer, photographer and has a fashion design company named after him. He may be familiar to ladies for his "Angel" and "Innocent" perfumes and more recently after the launch of "Alien" (which I almost bought for myself thinking it was a mans fragrance!)
Both Angel and A-Men (known as "Angel for Men" in the US) were the first hers n his fragrances he launched back in 1992 and 1997 respectively and has over the years added more ranges to both his men's and women's collection.
He has for the past couple of years released an annual Limited Edition fragrance on the A-men brand, this years was "Malt" being based on Whiskey and last years was "Pure Coffee" based on coffee (surprisingly enough), both only available for a few months before production ceased though. Coffee was exceptionally nice, but I missed out on buying a bottle because I couldn't afford it at the time. "Malt" however had a very strong whisky smell to it and didn't really strike me as a scent that I wanted to wear, fearing I'd be accused of drinking whisky during the day lol.
I do, though, have other fragrances by Thierry Mugler - B-Men (this is what is pictured at the top of the page) and A-Men Summer Flash, but neither have the distinct smell that A-Men has. "Summer Flash" is described as a lighter version of A-Men but seems weaker and more like a Paul Smith type scent to me and B-Men is completely different altogether, I may write a review on the other 2 varieties at some point and try and describe their scents.
To conclude then; My recommendation to anyone looking for something new would be to give A-Men a try. I would suggest that you have a spray of a tester in Debenhams, House of Fraser etc as it might not be to everyone's taste, but for me it gets and deserves 5/5 DooYoo stars and unless something comes along that I like more than this (and it hasn't for 9 years) then it will be with me for many more years to come.
You can check the official website for more history about the range and also where the inspiration came from at http://www.thierrymugler.com/ and can even join a mailing list where you get sent details of promotions and special offers etc. I've been on the list for a few years and had some free goodies sent in the past so it's well worth signing up for.
5/5 can't beat it!
I have had this aftershave for a long time now and my 100ml bottle is still keeping me going with regular use. I bought it around a year ago and it's still half full. It cost me around £44.00 and I got a mini sample with it, which is great to take away, such as when I had a university interview.
The bottle I got was 100ml in size and was transparent. The liquid inside had a slight blue-purple colour, which gave the appearance a nice deep colour, The bottle is very simple but it has an Angel star cut out of the glass, which sticks out and gives a 3D effect. It looks really cool and the edges of the star and coloured liquid inside give a nice shadowy effect in colour.
This aftershave has a very simple spray mechanism once you pop off the chrome cap. The spray works very well and will give a good amount of aftershave in an even layer.
I usually do a couple of sprays around my neck and it will stay there all day. If you want an intense smell, you can do 3 sprays but this is usually over the top and not needed!
This aftershave has a very characteristic, unique and delicious smell. It is very masculine and extremely warming too. The great thing about it is that it's pretty strong and the scent will stay on you all day long. You will still smell it as it comes off in a steamy shower at the end of the day.
I have had all positive comments about this aftershave, which is good to hear. Guys and girls seem to like it. It is made by Thierry Mugler and is widely available in perfume shops and the good old duty free shops at airports. I would definitely recommend trying this one out as you may fall in love with it like I did!
Thanks for reading,
This is my favourite aftershave by far. When I first smelt it on someone and then recognised it again on someone else, I made sure I went away knowing what aftershave they were wearing. It was the Angel for men eau de toilette. This aftershave comes in a 100ml bottle for around £30. I bought mine at an airport where it came with a smaller travel version as part of a promotional deal.
The aftershave comes in a stylish blue bottle within the box. It has an oval and tall shape with the shape of the Angel star sticking out from the glass, giving it a cool, almost 3D effect. The bottle is simple yet very attractive and you can see through it to see how much aftershave is left. If you do have the one with a plastic coating then you can buy the refills for this.
The aftershave has a lovely really warming scent. It will stay on all day and you will smell it coming off in a steamy shower in the evening. The aftershave has a somewhat mild smell as it is not too strong but it is definitely subtle enough to be smelt and it seems to be a hit with the girls! There is a simple button on the aftershave, which you press down to spray a good even layer out. I would definitely recommend trying this next time you're in a perfume shop or at the duty free in an airport.

It has been a long time since I have worn an aftershave that has caused a stir when I entered a room, much like when someone walks past you and you think they smell really nice. This aftershave did that the first time I wore it, not that I am one for caring about that type of thing, but I was suprised. The aroma this gives is slightly sweet and yet mildly irresistable, even at higher concentrations its not painful to the nose like some aftershaves can be.
The bottle itself is very stylish with a blue star cut out of the black rubber casing, there is a single pressure press which gives off just the right amount of aftershave, though it is advisable to be standing at a distance from it when you do, just incase you get it all in one place.
In terms of price and value for money I would rate this aftershave very highly. I purchased this aftershave at two 50ml bottles for £30, which I thought was brilliant as it usually ranges at around £25 to £35 pound for a single bottle. If you're looking to purchase it you should shop around as many perfume shops have deals on and I have seen it on sale again, of an occassion.
I've owned A*men for around 18 months and though I don't go out 3 times a week, I use it quite often, and I'm currently just below half of a bottle, which is great.
Out of the aftershaves I own, which include Boss In Motion and Burberry Touch, I prefer this because it's pleasant and lingers quite nicely in the air. I don't think it is a particularly masculine smell which may be an advantage it has, it doesn't signal raw testosterone like some aftershaves might.
I Got the Thierry Mugler Eau de Toilette formy birthday last August and i think its amazing. There is a freshenes in the perfum that is incomparable to any other that i have ever tried! Its Very Fuity and and i Love it. Very masculine.A more discreet version of the original A-Men.A scent that conjures up a dynamic universe of speed and action, combining modern woody notes with green spicy accents I complete recomend it.
Its been years that someone does not release a fragance like this and i am so glad that i Found it.
what's the smell like? First impressions are immediately spicy and a little fruity - but not your normal "fruity". Oh no, that would be boring - instead of the usual apples and citrus, the top-notes of B*men are of rhubarb, cinnamon and nutmeg. This soon subsides to give way to a distinctly woody middle-note that's made up of coniferous resin, sequoia and more spices - maybe cumin and a hint of clove. Quite honestly, two squirts on the chest will still be noticeable at the end of a 16 hour day.
It Really deserves a 5 Star Rating!!
This is another perfume I greatly love, definitely one of my favorites. This fragrance has a sense of purity and innocence to it. The after effect smells real sweet and my ex loved it so much on me! Through research I discovered that the fragrance was created for the modern hero hence why it has a fiery masculine attribute to it. The fragrance is also deeply captivating in terms of smell hence why people always wonder what fragrance it is because the smell is so unique and one of a kind. It is very sensual due to the fact that the fragrance contains lavender, caramel, roasted coffee, vanilla mix and some other interesting substances.
The fragrance is definitely a must have for those people that got quality taste in good products. However for me, its one of those fragrances I wear once in a while seeing as its smell is so unique so I only wear it on special occasions at times or sometimes when am just at home chillaxing lol.
A Men is the most wonderful aftershave you can buy. It's not the cheapest, but the aroma is brilliant and it comes in a stylish bottle too. I have been smelling this one on my Dad and strangers out on the street for months and I have finally found it myself. I picked up a 100ml bottle for 50 euros at a Spanish airport. You can get it for around £44 in the UK and it is sold in most beauty shops.
It comes in a blue box with black sides. The A Men logo is on the front, and the logo is like a stretched star. It is made by Thierry Mugler and contains a bottle of 50ml or 100ml depending on which you buy. It is cheaper in the long run to buy the 100ml bottle as you get more for your money. You can also buy special containers to put the glass bottle in, which keep it safer and also improves the look.
The aftershave itself has a blue tint and comes in a glass bottle with the logo across the front. On top is a steel nozzle that can be pressed to spray. Compared to other aftershaves, I find this nozzle to be lacking quality and can be a pain to get working sometimes - this is the only downside.
Once you have managed to spray some out, the beautiful aroma fills the air with delight and makes you feel warm and fresh. The smell is out of this world - not too strong but it has a subtle fragrance. The aftershave will stay on your skin all day and you will still be able to smell it after a long days work.
In my opinion, this is a lovely aftershave - one of the best on the market. It has a superb smell and won't leave your pockets too empty. It comes in a stylish bottle, which you can buy a cover for to make it safer and look better. As I say, the only downside is getting the spray nozzle to work first time! I would highly recommend you try this out at your next beauty shop visit!

i have worn thierry muglers Angel and Alien for a long time and angel is my favourite so when i saw the mens version amen i had to buy it for my husband.I am so glad i did because it is one of the lovliest mens fragrances ive smelt for a long time. For anyone who has ever smelt Angel try to imagine the same fragrance but a masculine version of it. Its quite a strong fragrance but not too over the top however a little goes a long way so dont overdo it!The price is quite reasonable-i paid £34.00 for a 100ml bottle and it does last a long time. The packaging as expected from thierry mugler is beautiful the bottle is very eyecatchig and it is a very good fragrance to buy for a man 20-40 i would say.Very sweet type of fragrance and lasts all day long too
