Advantages: Suitable for day and evening use. Pleasant fragrance

Disadvantages: None for me

Am I too old for this perfume? Is it only for the young girls?

When I first heard of Tommy Girl, by Tommy Hilfiger, I must admit that the name put me off and I thought it was really more for teenagers. When I sampled it, whilst in the duty free shop at an airport, I was impressed by the fragrance. I think of it as rather fresh but with an extra something that lingers.

I noticed that it has been reviewed by some others as a perfume for the younger woman so this started me thinking again, before I sprayed.

Quite by coincidence, some months later my eldest daughter ( in her 20's) bought this for me. I think it was for my birthday. I still wondered would it seem foolish to use this scent as I don't want to seem to be trying to be years younger than I am. My other younger daughter told me I was being ridiculous (she is always telling me off!) and if I like it I should go ahead and wear it.

I remember when I was a teenager having many different perfumes and mainly the popular ones. I had, amongst others, 'Gingham', 'Blase', 'Fidgj' and 'Anais Anais'. Anyone remember these? Admittedly, I wouldn't want to wear some of these now but I still wear 'Anais Anais' and 'Fidgi'. Obviously many pefumes are aimed at the younger market but surely the idea of this is partly to hook them in so they'll keep using that brand? Also because they are more likely to spend money on perfumes, or have it bought as a gift, than the more mature woman. Aiming a perfume at the younger market is more likely due to name and packaging than odour. If Britney Spears brands changed their name to Barbra Streissand they would most likely sell to older women, although still smell the same.

I now have another bottle of Tommy Girl ready to use when my current one is used up. I shall wear it with pride and, if someone asks me what perfume I have on, then I will admit to it being Tommy Girl and I won't giggle with embarrassment and make a feeble excuse of it being borrowed from my daughter!!!

Now, as I've waffled on, I'll say more about the product.

As I have already mentioned it has a fresh, flowery fragrance but more intense than most flowery scents. This makes it wearable both for day time and evening use. It isn't overpowering but is interesting.

My latest bottle contains 50 ml and came in a gift set with a matching red make-up bag plus shower gel. The bottle I am still using is larger. The bottle is plain and minimalist in style. It is sort of triangular, which makes it easy to grip and to spray. It has tommy girl written on it (without capitals) and 'cologne'. The lid is silver and says, on the top, Tommy Hilfiger.

I don't know where mine was purchased as they are presents but I've seen Tommy Girl in all perfume outlets: Boots, Superdrug, The Perfume Shop, supermarkets, Debenhams and T.J. Hughes. It is reasonably priced. As I haven't bought this yet for myself I can't give an exact price but I think you can get it for under £15.

Summary: Suitable for females of all ages. Spray away!
