Tommy Hilfiger True Star Eau de Parfum
by MEL0611
I have a number of perfumes in my collection. The one that I am going to be reviewing today is my bottle of Tommy Hilfiger True Star Gold eau de toilette. This perfume had an advertising campaign by the Singer Beyoncé and was first launched in 2005. It was not until a couple of years ago that I first tried the scent, I brought it in an ... airport on my way home from a foreign holiday after trying a tester on the way out for my holiday and really liking it! The only other Tommy fragrance that I have tried in the past was the Tommy Girl and I was impressed with that one. Here are my thoughts on True Star.
The True Star bottle that I have is the 75ml bottle and it will cost you around the £15.00 mark which is an amazing price. I have seen it for even lower prices which are impressive. The brand can be found in a number of different places such as Boots, Superdrug and Debenhams and on the run up to Christmas it can be found on offer price. It is definitely worth keeping your eyes peeled for it.
The bottle came in a cardboard box and it is mainly a pale blue in colour. The packaging that came with my perfume had a picture of Beyoncé on it as well. On the front there is minimal detail, the logo and the name and then on the reverse of the packaging is the directions for use, ingredients that have been used and further information on the product. The bottle that the perfume comes in is a long clouded glass bottle with a silver lid at the top. There is a black star at the bottom and the words of the same name. All that was left was for me to have a spray and get wearing the perfume.
We are told that there are top, middle and bottom notes with this scent. The top notes are the golden kiwi, red current and melon, the middle notes, or rather heart notes as the Hilfiger brand choose to call them, there is the pumpkin and blossom notes and then we have the base notes of the raspberry, honey, lily and tulips. I am sure that you can tell from this list that this us quite the floral mixture. What I first noticed was that this was a light and refreshing perfume which is always a favourite of mine, I only have a couple of heavier scents in my collection as I much prefer softer tones.
The first thing that I noticed was the red current, it was really strong and something that little bit different to what Is in my other collections. The next thing that I noticed were the middle notes, these were the blossom notes coming through really well, finally the base notes came through, they were the lily and tulips. This fruity and floral blend was really impressive in my opinion and one that I would be happy to recommend.
The perfume is long lasting on skin. I have chosen to wear this scent to work on a number of occasions and it stays on my skin all day long so I get the different notes coming through. This is an excellent product and I think for the price it is even more impressive.
5 out of 5 from me on this one

Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl Eau de Toilette
by wazza115
In my late teens, my other half used to wear Tommy so when he went on a lads holiday abroad, he brought me a bottle of Tommy Girl back and for a good few years, this was one of my favourite fragrances.
The perfume is widely available; I have also spotted in places such as Home Bargains & Wilkos. It come sin several ... different sizes; 30ml, 50ml, 75ml and 100ml with the 30ml being the most common, the price is always reasonable too, because this was first launched in the mid 90's it is normally heavily discounted.
The fragrance comes in a clear glass bottle which is shaped a like a curved upside down triangle with Tommy Girl written on the front. The lid is silver with Hilfiger running around the base.
According to Basenotes.com, the fragrance is as follows:
Top notes - Camellia Flowers, Apple Blossoms, Blackcurrant, Mandarin, Tangerine
Middle Notes - Grapefruit, Citrus Orchards, Crisp Green Notes, Honeysuckle, Butterfly Violets
Base Notes - Desert Jasmin, Cherokee Rose, Magnolia Petals, Dakota Lilies, Cedar, Sandalwood, Wild Heather
With both the top and middle notes predominantly being fruit, when you first spray, the juicy fruity aroma hits you straight away but I do find it difficult to pick out exactly what element is most dominant. After a short while, the fragrance starts to 'calm down' and the mandarin, orchards start to dominate through, on top of the base of sandalwood and lilies.
What I will say, is you don't need to spray a lot of this, I remember when I first had it, it made me feel sick because I had sprayed too much on and had to go and splash some water on my wrist and neck to try and wash the fragrance away. The positive side of this is that when I used to wear on a night out, I didn't need to plaster it on like I would my other fragrances.
Although as time passed, I moved onto different fragrances, occasionally, I would still wear this. I used to get mixed reviews from people about the fragrance, some people would comment how nice I smelt or ask what I was wearing, however once my dad told me I smelt like I was wearing fly spray (as you can imaging, I haven't worn it much since then!)
Overall, I like the fragrance, it's a good price and availability is great but I would definitely describe it as a young fragrance so I wouldn't buy it now, therefore I would give 4 out of 5 stars.
