A beautiful item which I love and would recommend.

Tuscan Blood Orange Pacifica Solid Perfume
      -----------------------------------------------------

January is probably the best month to write about this product as although the coldest and wettest month of the year in the UK, it always heralds a turning point for me. This is because you start to see spring bulbs coming up in gardens, and if you frequent your local greengrocer, or have deliveries from an organic fresh foods supplier as I do, you will notice the arrival of Blood Oranges. These beautiful and rare beauties are grown in Italy and I absolutely adore them. If you have never tried one then look out for them because they are so juicy and fresh, and as they have a very short season they won't be around for long at all.

This brings me onto a lovely product that I carry around in my handbag all the time which is The Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Solid Perfume. It reminds me of warmer climates and summer days, and is just a beautiful item to carry in your purse as it is very small and concentrated. You only get 10g of product in each little tin but it goes a long way. I purchase mine from Amazon where it retails for £9.50 and is sold by their marketplace seller Steenbergs. This company is fantastic and mainly supplies spices and herbs from all over the world, but also does health foods. You can also purchase directly from their website at www.steenbergs.co.uk. Of course if you visit America you can purchase over there for considerably less cost as the company is US based. I have also seen this for sale on Ebay.

      Suitable For Vegans
      ----------------------
One of the things I value about the company Pacifica is that they are ethical and have a no animal testing policy. In fact these perfumes are vegan which is lovely. They use organic coconut and soy wax as a base to make them, and then they add different fragrances depending on your choice. This Tuscan Blood Orange variant is full of essential oils, and just removing the lid and smelling the intense mandarin aroma is pure delight. I often do this even if I don't actually apply it as it is just so gorgeous! They say about this fragrance "Tuscan Blood Orange Perfume melds the temptation of blood orange, loved for its sparkling juicy raspberry and strawberry notes, with spicy and sweet Italian mandarin orange aromas." I would say this is a fitting and accurate description of the perfume, which certainly has uplifting and awakening properties due to the citrus and berry notes. I would say the orange predominates but there are complex undertones so this isn't just one simple fragrance.

      My Experience
      ------------------
When applying to the skin I simply add to my wrists and savour the fragrance which lasts for a couple hours before requiring a top up application. As I also use the spray perfume they make in the same fragrance it is an ideal top up for this, as it saves me taking the bottle with me. Don't expect this solid perfume to be a strong fragrance -it is subtle, and it does not have the staying power of other perfumes. You need to reapply frequently -some may see this as a negative, but it is important to mention it as it does impact the decision to purchase if you like a fragrance to last all through the day.

I tend to use this more during the day than into the evening, as it is so uplifting and makes a fresh start to each morning. I find this to be even more the case if I use related products from the range which includes a lovely soap, body wash and body butter.

Pacifica also make many more fragrances in the solid perfume range (22 when I last checked the website) including my favourite of all time which is Tahitian Gardenia- this is absolutely divine and will be reviewed in due course. There are some fragrances in the range that are more suited to the evening and some which are incredible any time, including another of my all time favourites - Mexican Cocoa!

What I adore about the blood orange solid perfume is that it is so light weight, and so taking it on holiday is ideal as it travels so well and is so refreshing to use on the plane. In addition the tin lid is easily removed as it has a solid construction and lifts off with ease, but remains firmly closed when not in use.

These make gorgeous little Christmas gifts, and are especially good as they post well and inexpensively. I purchased one for my daughter and she was absolutely delighted with hers as the range was new to her. When you purchase these they also come in a small box, which is also very beautifully decorated with amber tones and slices of cut oranges. I think they take great care to present these beautifully, making them so suitable to give for presents.

      Any Negatives?
      -----------------
I think the only slight negative is the price, but the product does last a long time and there is always a slight premium on ethical and natural toiletries. There is also the fact that it doesn't have the ability to last all day without frequent re-applications.

      Final Thoughts
      ----------------
If you love summery scents and things in little packages this one is for you. If you are vegan then even better, and if you are planning a trip to the US my advice is to look out for this and stock up. I love it and it lives in my handbag all year round!
