Advantages: Gorgeous, long-lasting scent

Disadvantages: Very silly bottle design, particularly the smaller one

I first bought myself a bottle of Ultraviiolet after smelling it on a friend and falling in love with it straight away. I was surgically attached to my Boots Advantage card at that point so, as it was quite an costly purchase, I waited until their next triple points event and headed straight down there.

This is my all time favourite perfume and I wear it all the time. It's way too nice to save for best and just cheap enough to make it ok to use it every day. It's a difficult scent to describe...it's not a sweet or fruity fragrance, more of a subtle musky fragrance. Rather than being overpowering it is gentle and light, but lasts for a good while once you've sprayed it on...I generally only reapply once a day when I'm wearing it, and to be honest, that is mostly because I just want to be able to smell it more strongly myself rather than because it's worn off altogether.

The packaging is unlike any other perfume I've had in that it's in a round bottle, round as in spherical, not circular, so doesn't have a square base and has a pump lid. Whilst the shape of the bigger bottle (50ml) isn't necessarily an issue, on the smaller bottles (30ml) it is an oval shape, also without a flat base and doesn't stand up at all. This, to me, is a major irritation as it doesn't stay on my dressing table unless it's hemmed in by other things, otherwise it rolls off. The solution to this problem for me was to use the bigger bottle for morning/evening use and keep it on my dressing table, and use the smaller bottle for top-ups during the day and keep it in my handbag.

The bigger issue with the 50ml bottle is that the pump lid isn't very effective and unless you put pressure on just the right place it doesn't work.

These issues with the packaging design make it a difficult perfume to rate for me...I absolutely love it and if I had to choose just one perfume for the rest of my life it would be this one. So both the bottles, whilst hugely annoying each in their own way, don't really make a difference to me. I would still buy bottle after bottle of this. So for the fragrance I give it 5 stars but the bottle design only gets 2...so don't be put off by the 4 star overall rating, the actual contents are a definite winner!

Summary: My favourite fragrance by a long way, and the bottle issues aren't enough to put me off it
