4 stars for fragrance only 3 for staying power

The Urban Retreat salons created by George Hammers, have beauty boutiques at both Harrods and Harvey Nichols stores, with Beautique.com as their online store. The clever creation of their Haute Parfumerie comprises a range of unique fragrances.

The Urban Retreat Reverie, Eau de Toilette for women is one of the Urban Retreat products that I have used. It comes in a rather basic looking rectangular shaped glass bottle, that is encased within a white cardboard box.
The design is both basic and simple to the eye, perhaps understated is the right description for it.

      *********************************************************
Inside the box, there is a glamorous looking white fabric covered squeezy applicator, which has a long white tassel attached to it. It is very reminiscent of old style perfume bottle applicators and gives a nice light spray of fragrance when used. Once the bottle and applicator are put together, as they come individually in the box, the effect is much nicer than when each component is on its own. The bottle then makes a nice addition your dressing table.

The over all fragrance is very light and fresh and also rather reminiscent of some other well known perfumes, it can even be compared to some of the mens products too. Think along the lines of Diors, Eau Savage for men, but with little less power and a lot less class, or CK One in the mens fragrance range, very androgynous and easily worn by both men and women alike.

      ********************************************************
The fragrance is a mix of pretty floral geranium with lavender and bergamot over tones, that when combined give off a very light citrusy floral scent. You could in many ways compare this to the scent of Jasper Conran Woman or even the classic O De Lancome, but it does seem lighter and not as long lasting.

There was also a complimentary shower gel that went with the fragrance priced at around £8 ish for a 175ml tube. It does combine well with the Reverie Eau de Toilette, but was rather thin in consistency and there fore wasteful and slightly awkward to use well.

      ********************************************************
I have seen this fragrance being sold for anything from £24.99 at full price, down to just about half that. The half price mark of £12.49 ish is really what the fragrance ought to be as its not as long lasting as other similar EDTs and so needs re applying more often.

Giving it 4 stars for the fragrance as its very light and fresh but does lack staying power.

A good value fragrance - great for day wear

I bought this perfume a little while ago and since no one has yet reviewed it I thought I would.

Urban Retreat Reverie perfume comes in a 100 ml bottle. I bought mine from Boots when there was a 2 for 3 offer in Urban Retreat, but it currently retails on the Boots website for £24.95 which is not a bad price for a 100 ml bottle.

Urban Retreat is a beauty salon and they have created this perfume along with Roja Dove, who is "Professeur des Parfums and British Beauty Expert at the Urban Retreat". For more information on them, their website is www.urbanretreat.co.uk.

My bottle, like the picture is a clear glass rectangular bottle, with a white label. Unlike the picture, mine came with a silver and white tasseled old fashioned spray attachment, which looks very sophisticated on the dressing table. It also dispense the fragrance in small delicate sprays which is good.

The label has Urban Retreat Reverie Eau de Toilette in silver lettering and says "Spend your day dreaming of a romantic rendevous"

Chance would be a fine thing (as my Granny used to say) I tend to spend my day running round like a mad thing, doing 4 things at once and trying to work out what to review on dooyoo next! Perhaps I should chill out a bit and dream of a romantic rendevous - best not tell Mr Geranium about that though!

Anyway, on to the most important thing - how does this smell?

The notes are supposed to be geranium, lavender and bergamot. On various websites it decribes this fragrance as a " romantic and enchanting light and fresh floral fragrance"

I think the description sounds quite feminine but I actually find this fragrance to be quite androgynous, and not at all girly. There have been a few fragrances of recent times that could easily be worn by a man or a woman like CK1 and I would out this into that category. I tested it on Mr Geranium and he said it was not overly girly and was on the softer side of something a bloke might wear. He said it smelt citrussy.

I definitey smell citrus at first and then it does blend and settle down into a light herbal fresh scent. I can detect a little geranium and lavender in it.

I think this is a perfect work fragrance - great for daytime when you want a hint of scent but you don't want to be wafting round the work place knocking everyone out with a heavy sensual evening scent.

If you are a fan of real, girly sweet scents and nothing else then you won't like this, but if you like fresh, clean herbal scents then you probably will.
