I am a bag fan of Usher's music and always a little weary when it comes to celebrity fragrances. In fact the only one I have aside from this as a staple in my collection is Sean John aka Diddy formerly known as P Diddy formerly known as Puffy Daddy and his fragrance Unforgivable.
I will start with the design of the bottle. What I will say is that if you literally designed a bottle that you think Usher would use this would be it. There is a cool silver cap that sits loosely on the top, but not the type of loose where it could fall off, but just so it can swivel around. It has a metallic design with some weird inscriptions, I am not sure what it is of, but it definitely stands out in my collection. The rest of the bottle is Matt black and there is not much detail, it is just kept simple with the word Usher on it. Then the details are on the bottom of the bottle out of sight.
The top notes here are Pineapple and Melon and you can really smell the fruity scent. But it isn't overly floral that it could be a feminine scent as soon it mixes with middle notes of blue lavender and white pepper to add the spice where this fragrance really shines. There is a dry down of black suede and sandalwood amongst a couple of other scents. It's so hard explaining the exact smell and I imagine the likes of Debenhams, Superdrug and Boots don't sell this so you can't get a sample but you could try the perfume smell. It just smells of something Usher would wear although I am sure his stuff is a lot pricier. I have smelt many other celebrity fragrances and it really doesn't smell like what you would imagine and clearly they have had no input in the process.
Strangely I bought this from John Greed jewellery which was a new site just opening and as such had this on offer so I got it for just over £10 for a 100ml bottle which is ridiculously cheap and in hindsight I should have bought many more bottles. At the moment you can get this for around £14.50 for a 50ml bottle from The Fragrance Shop and a 100ml bottle setting you back around £17, so the 100ml definitely represents better value for money.
The longevity with an EDT is never particularly long at only a few hours, but I like to put one spray on my collar as I find clothes always carry the scent longer than my skin does, but it really does depend on the person. Three sprays will be enough here, and it isn't too powerful that you will suffocate people near you, but just powerful enough so people within your vicinity can catch a whiff of the scent.
Overall for the price you simply cannot go wrong. Please don't let this put you off buying the fragrance. It is no Chanel, but considering it is a celebrity fragrance it is a perfect smell and realistic in terms of what you can imagine Usher wears. This is the fragrance that all other celebrities need to put as the marker for perfection.
