I received this as a birthday present and was unsure of its scent but upon opening, the bottle blew me away for starters. It looks great on my bedside table, very classy. It's a heavy bottle so may not be suitable for handbag usage in the day time, although if you don't mind the weight I'd be confident the bottle would not get damaged in your handbag as it feels like very tough and thick glass.
It's initial aroma is quite strong- in a good way, but I found after an hour or so it does tone down. Perhaps a bit too much considering the price you pay: It wears off before the end of the day.
Quite a spicy tone which leads to a woody scent as it wears off. Not fruity or flowery like other perfumes and so I would generally recommend this product for evening wear (considering how quickly it wears off too).
I had this bought for me as a present, as to be honest with a name like this I would never have bought it!! It came in a white round box with silver flowers with a small body lotion (will review separately) in as well. The box was a zipped case and is now being used for jewellery so was quite useful.
The perfume comes in a transparent glass round bottle with the name etched on it with a long white lid covering the spray. There is quite a lot in the bottle as is 50ml so does last ages. I'm not sure what the cost is as I mentioned before it was a gift.
The spray itself is quite powerful so when it is applied it covers quite a large area of the skin as I find that sometimes with other sprays it only hits a concentrated area so I have to give a couple of squirts whereas I don't with this bottle.
The smell itself is very sweet, I think there is some jasmine in there and it is not heavy enough for my evening perfume or light enough for my day wear. I tend to wear it around the house when I just get out of the shower for a bit of scent. When applied it is quite strong however this quickly dies down. It doesn't last a long time and I find that after a couple of hours the scent has gone so if I was wearing this out and about I think I would have to carry it with me and apply fairly frequently
You know when you enter these big department stores furthermore you mainly have to journey past the perfume emporium before you can physically get in to the section where you need to get too.
And you encounter those sale assistants that consistently ask you to try something!
new well that happened to me today whilst on the way to buy a jumper.
The lady approached me voicing that his was a new product and would i like a squirt,
For the first time i consented , mainly because of the aroma that hung in the air from the previous customers she had squirted!
It was positively pleasant i have to admit I'm not ordinarily one for accepting squirts from assistants in department stores however i had been glad i did.
moving round the store after the squirt I physically found myself rather calm , which is miraculous throughout the irresponsible hustle and bustle of the Christmas shoppers, and i put this down to the perfume,
So after making the purchase of the jumper i headed off back to the counter at the front of the store,
I was the again questioned if i wanted another squirt, I then thought the woman was just working on autopilot as she had obviously forgotten she had squirted me roughly 30 minutes ago!!!
Anyway after asking a few questions as to what was in the perfume, just so i could identify the miracle ingredient ,which may i add the woman had no idea, which left me thinking , why plug a product with not knowing anything about it??
I had already after the second squirt decided to buy it , Yes i know buying products on impulse usually ends in disaster, but i knew there was something in the perfume that had a calming effect on me so purchasing it seemed the only way to get to the bottom of it.
When i got home and removed the box from the bag i felt excited , the box was exquisite it was white with punctured out love heart shapes in which were backed with silver with a nice inscription of "Rock 'n' Dreams and the name of the maker Valentino on the front in a nice italic font,
The contents of the box contained a bottle, which in my opinion was rather dull, the bottle sported the same italic font as the box with a rather clumpy white top. and inside that bottle was my miracle calming solution, for £34.99 i had 90ml or 3.0 FL.OZ .
On looking at the ingredients i discovered it contained the perplexing sensual essences of Peach, spicy cinnamon, vanilla and something called Myrrhone,
A ingredient i knew nothing about ,which made me think could this be the calming scent???
So i logged on to the Internet in search of discovering more, and the only thing i could find was a statement saying ,
"Seductive woody base note enhanced by the richness of Vanilla."
So that must be it the claming effect, as peach is something i am not prone to adore ,or it could of been the cinnamon, after all it reminds me of Christmas so maybe it was that , the scent calming me and getting me in to the Xmas spirit!!
My bet is that it was this Myrrhone,
I must add here that i payed £34.99 for my perfume but on the search for information on Myrrhone, i did discover that it can be bought cheaper on the Internet (yes i kicked myself)
gift sets can be bought for around £24.99 so i know where i will be purchasing my next bottle.
The scent is luscious and lasts a while, and is perfect for evening wear , i guess you could wear it all day but at the price i payed i shall be keeping it for special occasions, It is the most I've spent on perfume in a long time, as i am a usual wearer of little black dress by Avon , but i will now be changing to this one , I simply adore the smell, i just hope it turns a few heads or evokes a few questions as to what i am wearing.
So please do try it ,just approach a perfume counter I'm sure there will be a sample (squirt) available and see for yourself,or consider purchasing this as a present I'm sure the recipient would adore it .
The box was almost enough to persuade me to buy it alone (I am a sucker for pretty shiny things....). It's white with cut out flowers backed in silver!!!! Rocks and Dreams is on the front in red cursive and Valentino plus details are in smaller silver lettering in the standard logo font.
The bottle is almost a ball shape. with a flat bottom. The glass is clear, with the nam in red again and little white flower (I think they look a bit poppy like!) stencils round it - simple but effective and all about instilling a calm, delicate and delightful aura already!!! It has a thick tall glazed pale glass top.
There are 3 bottle sizes 30ml, 50ml and oddly 90ml (most perfumes seem to come in 100ml). At the moment the mosty frequent online result is Harrods, ( 53 for 90ml only) but as it had only just been released I am sure it will start popping up everywhere soon!
It faded on my skin after a few hours leaving just a very light residual touch of redolence on my skin, I couldn't place it but believe it may be the Myrrhone mentioned in the press release (see further down)
This is perfume no.4 in the Rock collection (following Rock 'n Rose, Rock 'n Rose Couture, Rock 'n Rose Pret a porter). I found it much more gentle than the Rock'n Rose and less powerfully floral (Rock 'n Rose is un surprisingly rose scented combined with fruit and flowers - it's young and fun but I find it a bit much sometimes). This has a very dainty light aroma and it perfect for summer. It is much simpler and is a more focused floral tone (although with some low, heavier woody notes). It is a very dewy outdoor scent!!! There are more herby extracts suchs as cinammon and vanilla touches.
Alot of the press also talks about Myrrhone in the perfume to hold a sweet and woody fragrance. As far as I can establish this is a type of myrhh - which is an extract of sap of certain tropical trees trees (accounting for some of the woody and sweet notes), it is usually a gum or powder of and amber or brown (the colour has gone here - this scent is clear).
Ingredients - Alcohol Denat, Water, Fragrance, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Diethalmino Hydroxybenzoyl, Hexyl Benzoate, Propelyne Glycol, BHT, Methyl Paraben, Limonene, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Benzyl Salicylate, Linalool, Citral, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Coumarin, Citronellol, Geraniol, Cinnamal, Benzyl Benzoate, CI60730/EXT.Violet 2, CI 1470/ Red4. I can honestly say I recognise nothing but the water!!!
I really love this fragrance, it's gorgeous, the main problem I have is that it fades so easily and the price is high to keep refreshing!!!
