I bought Van Cleef and Arpels Oriens about six months ago.
~ Price and availability ~
It is available from most department stores and comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles. It is an eau de parfum.
The 30ml bottle costs £34.00 from Debenhams.
The 50ml bottle costs £54.00 from Debenhams.
The 100ml bottle costs £80.00 from Debenhams.
I bought the 100ml bottle.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle almost spherical, but with a flat front, which has the words, ‘Oriens Van Cleef & Arpels’ in silver lettering.
The lid of the bottle is very unique. It is a large gem with shades of red, pink and yellow in it and silver coloured leaves decorate the sides of the gem.
~ Scent ~
The fragrance itself is tinged an orange colour.
The first time I wore this fragrance it reminded me of another fragrance I have, but all day I couldn’t put my finger on which one. I could still smell it on myself by the end of the day and I realised it reminded me of Avon’s fragrance, Little Red Dress.
I love that fragrance, but I don’t think it is a compliment for me to compare this £80.00 to an Avon fragrance that costs around £8.00!
It is rich and fruity.
The top notes are mandarin, blackcurrant and raspberry.
The heart notes are jasmine and white flowers.
The base notes are patchouli, praline, amber and vanilla.
The fragrance is quite sweet and I can definitely detect the raspberry in this.
It is very similar to Avon’s Little Red Dress. I think it perhaps is a bit stronger, but I wouldn’t say it smells more expensive.
The floral notes are very light and they take a back seat while the berry notes dominate this fragrance. I usually find that sweet, fruity notes disappear quite quickly, but this fragrance doesn’t lose the sweet berry scent, which sticks around until the bitter end.
The fragrance is very long lasting and I can still smell it on my skin after 12 hours, which is really good.
I really like this fragrance and if it was cheaper I would recommend it, but it smells amazingly similar to an Avon scent that you can buy for 10 times less so I’d recommend buying from Avon and keeping your cash.
This fragrance was released in 2010 and Avon’s Little Red Dress came out in 2011 and is still popular today.
