Vera Wang Glam Princess is an Eau de Toilette which is available in a 30ml bottle priced at £28, or a 50ml bottle priced at £45. It's not part of their current line of fragrances so it is more difficult to get hold of.
The bottle is very pretty and I love looking at this standing on my dressing table. The gold and pink colours work really well together and the heart shape of the bottle is really cute.
I couldn't find a description of this fragrance from the manufacturer which is a shame as I do like to see if their description match my thoughts on the scent!
The top notes are watermelon and berries, the mid notes are jasmine, rose and frangipani, and the base notes are wood and musk. The overall fragrance is quite a heavy, sweet floral with a lot of depth provided my the woody and musky base.
I do like this scent, it's nice and fresh to begin with and then gets heavier as you wear it, with the mid and base notes taking over from the fruity top notes. I find it's one that develops and changes throughout the day and it becomes very deep and musky.
The scent is quite versatile as it's light enough to be worn during the day without being ott, but it's also heavy enough to hold it's own on a night out. It would suit anyone I think as it has elements within it that seem younger and elements that seem more mature, so I think it wouldn't seem out of place on any age of woman.
Although this is a lovely scent which I do enjoy, it does give me a headache very quickly so I struggle to wear it, and it's also one that I've never received any compliments on, which leads me to believe that most people don't like it as much as I do! It also doesn't last that well, even for an eau de toilette, and I find I have to top it up every 3 hours or so if I want the scent to stay with me.
Yes, I would recommend this as a nice versatile scent if you're not sensitive to chemical perfumes like me. If you are then you'll probably find it will leave you with a major headache!
After buying the original Vera Wang Princess, I decided that I would invest in the whole collection as I am quite obsessive like that.
There are now 6 fragrances in the Princess collection.
1) The original fragrance is called Princess and was released in 2006.
2) Flower Princess was also released back in 2006 as a limited edition intended to be permanently available in Asia. This is the only one I don't have (yet).
3) Rock Princess was released a few years later in April 2009.
4) Glam Princess, the fragrance I am reviewing here, followed in December 2009.
5) Preppy Princess was released in 2010.
6) A further release, Princess Night was released in January 2012.
I think this collection is brilliant and although I would like to see more fragrances added to the collection I don't think there will be any more releases.
~ Price and availability ~
I bought the 100ml bottle of Glam Princess eau de toilette online from www.amazon.co.uk.
It also comes in a 50ml bottle, but these are harder to come by. (You can get a set of 4 different 50ml Princess fragrances for about £80.00.
Most of the Princess bottles can be found for around £39.00 for 100ml, with a recommended retail price of around £60.00.
I picked up Glam Princess for £39.00.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle is the exact same shape for all of the perfumes in the Princess Collection.
It is a heart shaped bottle with a flat bottom so that it can stand up on its own. A crown shaped lid sits on the top of the bottle.
The Glam Princess bottle is made from glass with a transparent golden colour. The front of the bottle has pink stars around the outside of the heart shaped bottle. 'VERA WANG Glam Princess', is written across the middle of the bottle in pink lettering.
The lid is made up of two parts. There is the top of the crown, which is crown shaped with upside down cut out hearts in each point of the crown and small diamantes equally spaced around the bottom of the crown. The diamantes are light blue, purple and red and there is six of them; two of each colour. The points of the crown are rounded slightly so there aren't lots of sharp points all over your dressing table to prick yourself on.
There is also a ring, which is underneath the crown part of the lid and is completely separate. The ring is over half a centimetre thick and has very small, equally spaced coloured diamantes (light blue, purple and red) going right round it. Obviously one size fits all so if you have very large or very small fingers the ring may not fit you.
The crown and the ring are made from shiny gold coloured metal. They both fit around the spray nozzle, but do not cover the top of the spray nozzle, so you can still press and spray the perfume with the lid on, but it would be very difficult to do this by accident.
I like the design of the bottle and I think the ring is a nice touch. The design of the ring and crown is the same on all of the different Princess bottles, but there are different colour metals and jewels on each one.
~ Scent ~
Glam Princess is a refreshing fragrance. It is fruity and has a light spicy element, but I don't find this too harsh.
Glam Princess is supposedly the best selling fragrance in the Princess collection and I was very eager to try it out.
The top notes are crushed red currant, juicy guava and pear.
The heart notes are orange blossom and vanilla orchid.
The base notes are ambrette seed, sugar marshmallow and soft cashmere wood.
The rich fruity notes and the orange blossom are evident in this fragrance, with the ambrette seed adding a gentle spicy element and the sugar marshmallow bringing a gentle sweetness to the fragrance.
I really like this fragrance. It is fruity and floral with a subtle spiciness to it. It is not too heavy, but not too light either.
I think this fragrance is suitable for women of all ages, but I'd say judging by the name of the fragrance and the ring around the bottle neck, this perfume seems to be aimed at a younger audience.
One thing that has disappointed me about this fragrance is the longevity. It pains me to say anything bad about this fragrance, but it fades away after about 5 hours unless you apply multiple sprays, in which case the longevity does improve a bit.
~ Conclusion ~
I think that Glam Princess is a lovely fragrance and I can understand why it is the best selling fragrance in the Princess collection.
I love the shape of the bottle and the cute crown lid and the ring that you get with it. The golden coloured bottle with the pink stars is pretty and I like the gold coloured ring and crown on this bottle.
The scent of this fragrance is lovely and I wish it was made as an eau de parfum so that it would last a bit longer on my skin, but a few extra sprays will make this last longer on your skin.
It is also quite annoying that this has become so difficult to get hold of and it is hardly available apart from on ebay and Amazon.
I am happy with this purchase and I would buy it again, despite the longevity, which is not the good, but not the greatest.
One of my favourite perfumes is Vera Wang's Glam Princess. I'd had a sniff of a friend's original Princess fragrance before and liked it, and I like this one even more! It's the fourth in the 'Princess' range, and has a lovely, fruity-floral scent. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the staying power of some scents, and often fades by about 2 hours later, so I do need to top it up quite regularly - but it's worth it when you love the smell this much. I'm not a huge fan of really obvious, harsh perfumes anyway. It's had mixed reviews online, and probably isn't for those who don't like sweet, girly perfumes - the smell is indeed very sweet. I also love the bottle design (despite mine being a bit scratched up close from being in my bag too much!)
This is the latest perfume in my collection. I bought it from Debenhams as I had a gift voucher that I needed to use up!
I sprayed around twenty different scents before settling for this one. To be honest I think it was that gorgeous bottle that won me over! The bottle is in the shape of a heart with a gold crown for a lid. The bottle is decorated with a beautiful girly pattern and I just love it! The bottle is quite thick and chunky but it's easy to hold in the hand. It's really girly and feminine.
The perfume contains notes such as red berries and orange blossom. It's a summery fruity floral scent with a mix of fresh uplifting notes that come together to deliver a lovely girly scent. I think this is the most "girly" of the Vera Wang scents, I should know as I own three of them! The perfume smells quite sweet and fresh when you first spray it. I can detect the orange blossom straight away and the perfume has fantastic staying power. The notes aren't weak at all, in fact they make quite an impression. The perfume settles into a more mature scent, although you can still detect the orange blossom and the red berries. I am pleased to say that I can smell the perfume for the rest of the day after applying it in the morning.
This really is a beautiful scent and I just love that bottle! I would say it's more suited to daytime wear due to the fact that it does smell really young and fresh. However, my mum likes it and she's a lot older than myself so I guess it's down to the wearer!
My boyfriend bought me this last year for Valentine's Day. I've never bought Vera Wang Perfume before so I didn't know what to expect.
I'm quite particular when it comes to perfume. I know some of my friends that have some really nice ones but when I've tried it on me, I don't like it.
This one however is a winner! It's great in the summer as there are really nice fresh floral tones to it, but also great in the winter as it's a very warm comforting fragrance. It is a sweet scent, but not sickly sweet. I use in line with a body lotion which is actually a Christina Aguilera one, which works really well with it. Not overpowering, just subtle. If you use scented body lotions I would see which one you think works best with this perfume as it will probably work better with floral scented lotions rather than something like coconut or vanilla.
You don't need to spray too much as it really does last all day, but it's not overpowering with it.
The bottle is fabulous too! Heart shaped with stars round the edge and to top it all off, a crown as the lid!
I only wear it on special occasions or if I'm going out for the night as I class it as a "best" perfume. Everytime I do wear it, people comment on how nice it is and ask what perfume it is.
It is, however, expensive. But if you can afford it, I would definitely recommend this fragrance as an all year round one.
I'm almost through my current bottle so it's on my wish list as a future purchase!
A perk of having an older sister with a perfume obsession is that any that she doesn't like or just doesn't use eventually get passed down to me, and that's how I came to own this one.
The bottle is very girly and pretty and looks fantastic and expensive on my dressing table. It's a heart shade with a frosted gold colour to it and lots of pink stars on the front and it has a cute little gold jewlled crown as the lid! The crown pulls off to reveal the spray atomiser.
The scent is made up of guava and pear, followed by honey and vanilla orchid, and marshmallow accord and cedarwood.
It smells fresh and fruity and very girly and light. It's not a really sweet girly perfume but more fresh and elegant, perhaps even sophisticated, and would appeal to any age group. It can smell quite strong when you first spray it but it soon settles down and is not overpowering and it doesn't give me a headache like a lot of perfumes can.
Because it's a light and fresh fragrance I use it as an everyday scent as I think it's more suited to daytime and is not stand-out enough for night. It lasts a long time, I just spray it a couple of times on my neck or wrists and it lasts all day without needing to be topped up.
It costs £35 for a 30ml eau de toilette which I think is very expensive, and while it's a very nice scent it's very similar to a lot of others with nothing unique or different about it, except for the pretty bottle, so I wouldn't pay that much for it.
Vera Wang Princess is one of my favourite perfumes and so with this in mind and a voucher from Debenhams for Christmas I bought a bottle of the Vera Wang Glam. I quite fancy being a princess and as Kate Middleton is about to snap up William I think my only chance is by wearing this perfume.
Vera Wang Glam Princess is described as the new Sparkling, Enticing and Delicious fragrance from Vera Wang. Inspired by the signature princess botlle, Glam princess shows the enchanting side of a Princess, Everything to make a Princess, sparkling vivacious and glamourous
The bottle is just as fabulous as Vera Wang Princess but has been stepped up a notch to be really Glam. The bottle is in the shape of a beautiful heart with a gold stopper at the top and in the shape of a princesses crown with gems in it. Unlike Princess which is purple this bottle is gold with lots of little purple stars on it. Some of the stars are just in outline and some are filled in so it gives a nice contrast and looks like all the stars have been literally thrown on the bottle in a nice constellation pattern. The gems in the crown stopper are all different colours as opposed to the princess bottle which just has purple gems. I think this makes the Glam bottle a little bit more fabulous and fun and flirty. If I'm honest, I think this gives the bottle a bit of a youthful twist to it and so maybe is not for older women but that said the fragrance is amazing and so if the bottle is quite young don't let that put you off. It will still look amazing on your chest of drawers and just like my feelings for the original Vera Wang Princess, I do feel quite magical when I wear this, it must be the bottle, it's like dressing up when you were a child and always wanting to wear the princess dress or outfit, in a way this is like wearing the princess outfit for grownups!
The fragrance is described as having top notes of Guava, juicy pear and crushed red berries, with a heart of Liquid honey, orange blossom, vanilla and orchid, finishing with the base notes of Ambrette, cedarwood and marshmallow. It has such a beautiful fruity fragrance but is not too overpowering and sickly. The fragrance really does last all day and leaves a lovely smell when you spray it on. There are so many different facets to this perfume, at first spray you really do get the fruity smell but then once it has been on for a while you can definitely smell the stronger heavier fragrances coming through. If you put it on early in the morning this is the smell that comes through into the afternoon and evening.
I tend to wear this fragrance at all times of the day, I wouldn't say it is more suited to any one time of the day and so it is quite a versatile perfume.
A 100ml bottle of Glam was £57. It's quite expensive but in my opinion well worth it.
My mom recently went on holiday and i was left at home to house/dog sit and as a part of my payment i got a couple of bottles of duty free perfume which i intend to reveiw over the next few days. This is the 1st one on Vera Wang: Glam Princess :)
Before been given this perfume i didnt even realise that Vera Wang had a fragrance for some reason i only associated her with wedding dresses :/ weird!! lol. I was a little aprerhensive when i was 1st given it as i hadn't heard anything about it and im the kind of girl that has a small selection of fragrances that i wear ALL THE TIME, and i like to stick to them! However, that small selection has now growm by one more! I LOVE this perfume.
Being a typical girl i find the look of the bottle on my shelf almost as important as the scent itself! And believe me this bottle does not disapoint, in fact i'd go as far as to say that that its the best looking perfume bottle i have ever seen or own. The bottle is in the shape of a chunky gold heart with pink hearts and stars all over it, the lid is in the shape of a gold crown and embellished with different coloured jewels. The bottle makes it look really girly and expensive and is a little OTT which i LOVE, but i can see how it might be a bit much for some people taste.
As i may have mentioned in my other fragrance reveiws i cant stand really strong, overpowering perfumes and personally prefer more subtle, light and floral fragrances. Making this perfume perfect for me! The smell is very light and fruity without being too overpowering. I only received it last night and wore it for the first time this morning and after working an eight hour shift in a hot and smelly Macdonalds kitchen, im glad to report i can still smell it lightly on my clothes right now. So it definitley lasts a long time without need for re-applying.
Heart Notes - Orange Blossom and Vanilla Orchid.
Top Notes - Crushed Red Berries, Juicy Guava and Vibrant Sparkling Pear.
Base Notes - Ambrette, Cedarwood, Marshmallow Accord, Cashmere Wood.
Scent - Floral,fruity,oriental.
As i said my mom bought me this at the duty free shop in the aiport and im not sure how much she paid but yopu can buy it from the usual places such as the perfume shop, debenhams, boots etc. Ive looked online and the average price seems to be around £45 for a 50ml bottle which i thinkis VERY expensive but then again so are alot of fragrances by the top designers .
