My daughter loves perfume and is always spraying mine so I was pleased when she received this perfume from her aunty for Christmas.
I am aware of Vera Wang from her bridal collections which are stunning and very expensive so I was personally curious about her perfumes. I have seen them in the department stores and they all look a bit young looking and this one is no exception.
You can tell from the bottle alone that this is trying to appeal to a younger buyer and is appealing itself to young women and girls. The bottle is very pretty with a lovely heart shaped bottle and a stopped which is designed to look like a tiara. It’s pretty but not very sophisticated looking. My daughter adored the bottle but then again she does think she is a bit of a princess anyway most of the time.
The smell of this perfume is very girly so much so that I personally wouldn’t wear it and I usually like floral light fragrances. It is just too sickly and sweet for me and a little bit cloying and thick. My daughter loves the smell though and douses herself liberally in it. I asked her what she liked about it and she said that she liked the sweet smell of it so it just goes to show that what one person likes another won’t.
This is an Eau de Toilette so it isn’t as strong or as long lasting as a parfum would be. When my daughter first sprays it I find it to smell offensive and strong but it soon fades and is a lot lighter. It isn’t all that long lasting and after a couple of hours I can barely smell it from her though I daren’t say this to her or else she will be spraying it everywhere again.
I had a look online and the prices range wildly depending on where you buy it. I have seen it for as little as £14.99 for a 30ml bottle right up to £50 for a 100ml bottle. I personally wouldn’t buy it but it has been a hit with my daughter.
--- Introduction ---
This is a long time favourite perfume of mine. It is a go to scent for me and one I always ask for at Christmas and for my birthday. This perfume was originally released by Vera Wang in 2006 and has been very popular ever since, with lots of 'spin off' scents being made. This perfume is not cheap, 30 ml costs around £33, 50ml around £45 and 100ml around £60. It is available from Boots, Department Stores and high street perfume stores.
--- The scent ---
This scent is described as a 'sheer, fruity floral - rich with vanilla and brimming with exotic flowers and succulent fruits'. I would say that the description is pretty much spot on. This perfume is very sweet and smells a like a big bunch of fresh flowers to me, mixed in with citrus fruits. The floral note is definitely the strongest in my opinion, but I really like that fact that it isn't overpoweringly floral and the fruity notes add an interesting dimension to the scent. I can smell the vanilla notes, but I generally find that these are stronger once the perfume has settled and I have been wearing it for a while. When I smell this perfume I immediately think of sun and walking through gardens.
The scent is strong enough that it lasts all day without me having to reapply it, but it is not overpowering. To me, this scent is perfect for Spring as it is flowery and light, but it works well throughout the year. I think it is more of a day fragrance, but I often wear it in the evening in summer if I am going somewhere casual.
--- The Bottle ---
Perfume bottles are important to me, as I display them on a shelf. I really like it when a bottle is a little bit different but not too over the top and this bottle completely fits the bill.
The design of the bottle is in a heart shape, with a flat bottom so it can stand up. The back of the bottle is shaped to look like a diamond. This cute bottle is topped off with a gold crown for a lid which has purple diamonte jewels on it. The bottle is see through, meaning you can see light pink perfume through it. This bottle completely fits the princess theme, being extremely girly. The bottle is extremely well made and is not tacky at all. In fact, I think it is a very classy design that appeals to young and old princesses alike! I own a lot of different perfumes and this is definitely one of my favourite bottles. I personally think the bottle reflects the price of the perfume and is very upmarket.
--- Overall Opinions ---
I really like this perfume. It is pricey, but I do think that the scent and the lovely bottle are worth it. I tend to wear this perfume a lot during the year and because it is long lasting I don't have to use too much each day so it lasts me a while. Perhaps the price is a little inflated for the same as there are many lovely perfumes that are not as expensive as this one so if you are on a budget I wouldn't necessarily recommend this perfume. Boots often have offers if you have an Advantage Card so it might be worth waiting and purchasing this perfume when there is a points offer or a money off voucher to save yourself a few pennies!
Overall, I would highly recommend this perfume to anyone who likes light, sweet, girly, floral scents.
Absolutely stunningly sweet as candy . Very girly fun, light and full of the joys of summer fragrance which brings out your inner princess. First received as part of a gift set which came with a scented body lotion and a perfume crayon which is so handy when I am on the go. If you are a girly girl full of joy and lives life to the fullest then this is defiantly the fragrance for you.
Princess by Vera Wang is a fragrance which was released back in 2006.
It comes as an eau de toilette in a lovely heart shaped bottle.
There are now 6 fragrances in the Princess collection.
1) The original fragrance, Princess, which I am reviewing now.
2) Flower Princess was also released back in 2006 as a limited edition intended to be permanently available in Asia. This is the only one I don't have (yet).
3) Rock Princess was released a few years later in April 2009.
4) Glam Princess followed in December 2009.
5) Preppy Princess was released in 2010.
6) A further release, Princess Night was released in January 2012.
I think this collection is brilliant and although I would like to see more fragrances added to the collection I don't think there will be any more releases.
~ Price and availability ~
Princess is available in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles.
It is available from Boots as well as most department stores.
I bought mine online at www.cheapsmells.com. I have been using this website for years and all of their products are genuine.
The 30ml bottle is on cheapsmells.com for £29.50 (RRP £34.00).
The 50ml bottle is on cheapsmells.com for £36.40 (RRP £45.00).
The 100ml bottle is on cheapsmells.com for £36.95 (RRP £60.00).
I bought the 100ml bottle along with a free Princess 10ml rollerball of the fragrance for £29.82 also from cheapsmells.com so you get a 10ml rollerball for just £0.32 more than the 100ml bottle on its own.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle is the exact same shape for all of the perfumes in the Princess Collection.
It is a heart shaped bottle with a flat bottom so that it can stand up on its own. A crown shaped lid sits on the top of the bottle.
The original Princess bottle is made from clear glass. The fragrance is a light purple colour and I think the bottle looks lovely.
The front of the bottle has, 'VERA WANG Princess', is written across the middle of the bottle in dark purple lettering.
The lid is made up of two parts. There is the top of the crown, which is crown shaped with upside down cut out hearts in each point of the crown and small diamantes equally spaced around the bottom of the crown. The points of the crown are rounded slightly so there aren't lots of sharp points all over your dressing table to prick yourself on.
There is also a ring, which is underneath the crown part of the lid and is completely separate. The ring is over half a centimetre thick and has very small, equally spaced light purple diamantes going right round it. Obviously one size fits all so if you have very large or very small fingers the ring may not fit you.
The crown and the ring are made from a gold coloured brushed metal. They both fit around the spray nozzle, but do not cover the top of the spray nozzle, so you can still press and spray the perfume with the lid on, but it would be very difficult to do this by accident.
I like the design of the bottle and I think the ring is a nice touch. The design of the ring and crown is the same on all of the different Princess bottles, but there are different colour metals and jewels on each one.
I think the bottle for Princess is beautiful. The shape and the colour of the actual fragrance makes it look very pretty.
~ Scent ~
Princess is a sweet floral fragrance with a slight sharpness to it. The floral notes in it are sweet, but I wouldn't really describe the fragrance itself as sweet due to the harsh undertones it carries.
The top notes are water lily, apple, freshly-sweet mandarin and apricot.
The heart notes are exotic guava, Tiare flower, tuberose and dark chocolate.
The base notes are vanilla, amber and wood
I can detect the fruity notes, but they are dominated by sharper florals. I find it fairly inoffensive though. It also has quite a clean, green scent, which is probably from the water lily and apple.
It is described as an oriental-floral fragrance.
I'd say this is a day time fragrance rather than one I would choose to wear on nights out, but it is quite deep so I wouldn't rule out wearing it for a night out.
It is quite a unique scent and I can't really compare it to any of the others I have tried in the Princess Collection.
I like this fragrance, but it does have a slight harshness to it. It isn't too harsh or overpowering, but I feel that the fragrance could be better if it didn't have such harsh undertones.
I think this fragrance is suitable for women of all ages. I think, judging by the bottle design, it is aimed at younger women, but it is quite harsh and I can imagine this scent would not smell out of place on a woman in her 50's.
I have found that this lasts about 8 hours on my skin, which I have found impressive as some of the other fragrances in the Princess Collection have not been as long lasting.
~ Conclusion ~
I think that Princess is a lovely fragrance and although it isn't my favourite perfume I would buy it again if mine ran out.
I love the shape of the bottle and the cute crown lid and the ring that you get with it. The clear glass bottle with the purple coloured fragrance looks fantastic. I think the simplicity of that bottle highlights the beautiful shape of it. I absolutely love the bottle for this fragrance.
I have also been impressed with the staying power of this fragrance.
I would recommend it, although it does have a slight bitterness so it might be best to try before you buy, but it is still stocked by many retailers after 7 years so hopefully it will still be on the shelves for many more years to come.
I got a gift set of this perfume for christmas which also game with a body lotion and lip gloss on a little heart shaped keyring, and I absolutely love it!
Im a sucker for perfumes that come in fancy pretty bottles and this one is no exception. It comes in a purple transparent heart shaped glass bottle which is very girly, but the most beautiful thing about it is the lid - which is gold and shaped like a little crown and has little gems embellished onto it.
The scent is very girly too, though quite grown up and not too strong. I dislike perfumes that are too strong and you can smell coming before you see the person wearing it, but this one is nice and subtle which I like. I want people to be able to smell my scent when they get close, not get a headache from it! Its quite a musky and fruity scent, with a hint of vanilla too. It is officially described as a mixture of waterlily, apple, mandarin meringue, and golden apricot skin, dark chocolate, amber, musk, and vanilla. Im not sure if I can smell all those things when I spray it but they definitely work well together! It also lasts quite a while too, by the end of the day I can still smell it on my skin which is great, as I hate paying £40 for perfumes that need to be re applied every few hours.
Overall I would definately recommend this perfume, especially if like subtle vanillary scents and pretty perfume bottles. This is one of my new favourite scents now!
This Vera Wang 'Princess' is a perfume that I picked up for an absolute song. I saw this advertised on a local buying page on Facebook and picked up an almost full 100ml bottle of eau de toilette spray for just £10.00. As this seems to retail at about £50.00 usually I was absolutely chuffed and as soon as I picked this up I promptly tried it out to decide what kind of season this would suit and what time of day or occasion I would be looking to wear this on.
Vera Wang is a name that I know from over the years for providing quality but very expensive products. That is probably reflected in the price of this perfume that someone probably made and Vera Wang stuck her name to!
The bottle for this perfume is lovely. It is a light purple heart which has a gold top on it. The top is a little crown and has purple gems on it. This looks lovely on my dressing table and is incredibly stylish. This bottle really does bring the Princess name of this perfume to life - I love that and it prompted me to look at this perfume when I saw it being advertised.
This perfume contains a number of notes; pink lady apples, water lily, golden apricot, mandarin, pink guava, tiare flower, dark chocolate, wild tuberose, vanilla, amber and 'pink frosting'. This is a very feminine list of ingredients and I love the vanilla notes to this. Vanilla is something that I use in baking often and I can really detect this when it is present in a perfume. I can also detect the citrus notes or mandarin, the rest of the notes are a little more difficult for me to interpret correctly but they work incredibly well together.
This perfume has a wonderfully delightful fruity yet floral fragrance. It is a little similar to a perfume that I have smelt in the past but I do not know what. That fruity and floral combination works very well together and this scent is long lasting on my skin. There is quite a deep scent to this and I find that this keeps the perfume enjoyable for me.
I love to wear this perfume at any time of day. I tend to change my perfume from day to day and from evening to evening to prevent myself getting bored of a perfume before I reach the end of the bottle. This perfume is ideal for day or night as it is deep and rich without being too heavy or over the top. This scent lasts for a good 4+ hours on my skin which I find very reasonable for a perfume, especially as I only paid £10.00 for almost a full bottle!
This is my everyday scent and I really love it! I really like perfume, but I prefer to have a basic everyday one instead of changing my scent all the time, unless I'm going out or something! I also seem to get given perfume a lot and have a lot of different scents to choose from, but I've been very faithful to the Princess perfume for a few years now!
(Vera Wang) Radiant. Whimsical. Born to Rule! Created for the modern day Princess, this sheer, fruity floral fragrance is definitely born to rule! The scent sparkles with the captivating, sweet, tart aroma of delicate lady apples and the coveted tahitian tiare flower and finishes with a tasty vanilla chiffon - a treat fit for royalty!
~~Current Price & Additional Information~~
The 30ml is currently priced at around £30, and the biggest size is currently priced around £50. The bottles come in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. I own 2 100ml bottles - one was meant to be as a backup because I didn't expect my bottle to last the time it did. (I also have a tiny, TINY bottle because I got the first bottle in a gift set with the body lotion and body polish.) The first bottle was a present with the gift set, the second bottle I purchased from Weloveperfume.co.uk for £37.95.
The packaging is really cute! I love the picture on the pink packaging box - it is just an illustrated version of the perfume bottle. The actual bottle is heart shaped at the front with 'VERA WANG princess' written on it. It stands on an irregular diamond shaped base. The back doesn't look as nice as the front - it has a smaller flattened heart surrounded by sloped bumps like a diamond. The bottle is a gorgeous pale violet colour which looks beautiful on my dresser. The cap is in the form of a golden crown with purple crystals around it. The tips of the crown curve outwards really nicely like a lily almost! When you take off the lid, there is a golden ring - my sister actually stole this from me... so I don't have it infront of me to describe as this is the only opened bottle. I make out the dimensions to be roughly 11 x 9 x 4cm with the sprayer and crown accounting for 2cm.
An absolutely gorgeous, girly fresh scent! It's pretty sweet and I find a few sprays in the morning lasts me the whole day. It fades in a nice way and you can definitely make out the soft smell of apple and water lily from the beginning of the day till the evening. I've used this on most days for over 2 years now and well... there is half a bottle left... I don't even know why I bothered to buy another bottle, although I seem to have got a pretty good price on it. It's one of the most popular fragrances, although I wouldn't call it a classic. It's definitely what I would call a 'happy scent'!
This perfume, like with many others, goes on quite strong but fades out to the smell very quickly. (Ramble: I'm really used to this scent now and I find I don't notice the scent anymore after about 30 minutes until I think about it - I remember on one occasion when I'd picked up the scent in a hurry, sprayed it, then rushed off to a meet a friend at her home later. Her and her boyfriend asked me what I sprayed, and since I'd sprayed the perfume a few hours ago I assumed it wasn't me. Well, they could smell the perfume alright and I got a lot of compliments from them about it!)
If you like your girly, sweet perfumes and you're a lover of pretty perfume bottles, I would recommend this definitely. I'd 100% recommend you go to your nearest Boots/department store (if they have a scent section), spray the perfume and walk around for a bit to see how you feel since I do find this perfume to be quite sweet.
i was bought this perfume a few years ago for my birthday and although i have used it all up now, i thought i would review it.
packaging: very pretty pinks and purples. i love the box and the bottle is even better. the lid is a crown and there as a ring that you can wear under the lid. unfortunately this ring did not fit me and was a little too big but is lovely all the same. the bottle is a heart shape and looks lovely on a dressing table! i had wanted this perfume for ages before i got it without even smelling it as it was just so nice looking.
Scent: a lovely soft feminine fragrance that is quite light compared to a lot of stronger perfumes. although it is light, the smell stays with you all day and i have had a lot of compliments in the past when wearing it.
will be buying again!
The first time I smelt this perfume was when I was on a bus. There was a girl sat a few seats in front of me who had sprayed the perfume and I just thought it was absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately I was too far away to read what the perfume actually was so all I had to go by was the Purple Heart bottle to try and find what it was. After typing "purple heart perfume" into Google I had found it and couldn't wait to try it for myself.
==Notes within the perfume==
Water Lily, Lady Apple, Mandarin Meringue, Golden Apricot Skin, Ripe Pink Guava, Tahitian Flower, Wild Tuberose, Dark Chocolate, Pink Frosting Accord, Precious Amber, Forbidden Woods, Royal Musk Captive, Chiffon Vanilla.
I adore this perfume bottle and it is one that definitely stands out from the crowd. The heart shaped bottle is just gorgeous and the gold crown with purple diamantes just gives it that extra princess feel to it.
As soon as you spray this perfume you can see why it has been given the name Princess. It is a sweet, girly scent which is every bit feminine.
The sweetness of the fruits blends perfectly with the vanilla and musk to create a very fun and flirty fragrance.
In my opinion the scents in this perfume are used in the exact proportion and none of them overpower the rest instead they work together in perfect harmony.
The longevity of the scent is also fantastic with this perfume. It is one of those where you can spray on in the morning and still be able to smell it in the evening. Not as strong but the vanilla undertones are definitely still recognisable on your skin.
Due to this perfume being quite light and feminine I would personally say that it is better to be worn as an every day scent as I prefer to wear deeper fragrances during the evening.
In terms of who I would say this fragrance is for I would be more inclined to say the younger woman perhaps late teens to early thirties.
This is a fairly affordable perfume compared to a lot of perfumes that you can buy. You can expect to pay around £30 for 50ml. Since you do not need to spray a lot of perfume in order to smell like a princess this is fairly good value for money.
This is one of my favourite perfumes and I have repurchased a couple of times so thank you to the girl on the bus for introducing it to me!
REASONS FOR PURCHASE
When my other half asked me what perfume I'd like for my birthday I had a hard time choosing. I'm the kind of person that immediately replaces anything when it runs out. So I'm always stocked up with my favourite scents!
I asked for this perfume on a bit of a whim. I hadn't even sampled the scent before, but the bottle was so pretty! Very good advertising from Vera Wang - I wanted this perfume regardless of the scent!
So yep! The reason behind me chosing this perfume was purely aesthetical!
THE OFFICIAL PRODUCT WRITE UP
"Radiant and whimsical, Princess is a sheer, fruity floral - rich with vanilla and brimming with exotic flowers and succulent fruits."
This is a popular scent that can be purchased from a range of department stores, chemists, perfume shops, online shops... Basically, you can get it in any of the usual places where you'd buy your perfumes from!
As far as I'm aware, at the moment you can only buy an Eau de Toilette version of this perfume. In the past I have since tiny bottles of the pure 'Parfum' but after carrying out an online search, think these must have been limited edition or are now discontinued.
You can buy a 30ml bottle of the scent for £34 from Debenhams, and you can also buy larger bottles for a higher cost, or non-perfume items from the Princess range for a lower cost (such as body polish, body butter and body lotion). Sometimes Vera Wang gift sets are available too. I received one at Christmas with a 30ml perfume, 50ml body lotion and a pretty lipgloss keychain.
For a pretty bottle to sit on your dressing table, you don't get much better than Vera Wang Princess! From the beautifully cut heart shaped glass bottle, to the lilac colour of the perfume itself, not to mention the pretty jewelled crown lid!
The lid can be worn as a crown shaped ring, but maybe just if you're very petite! (For reference, my ring size is an 'K' and this is slightly too small for me!)
The box the perfume comes in is pretty and pink, appealing to the girly girl in many of us! The gift set version is also very pretty, displayed in a purple cardboard box, with clear lid so you can see what lovely things you're getting inside!
I like this scent a lot. It is my favourite 'understated and daytime' fragrance at the moment. When you first spray, you're hit with an incredibly sugar-sweet scent. You can spray a little for a very subtle 'almost there' hint of fragrance, or you can spray away and still not over-do it. Flowery (although not overly floral) and vanilla are the first words that come to mind when I analyse this scent. I definitely get a hint of Jasmine from this one as well!
The perfume does fade very quickly after application, but does by no means fade completely. You can still smell this perfume after hours and hours, although it is much more understated than after the first initial application. If you like stronger scents, just carry the bottle with you and reapply a few times.
As the day goes on, the perfume fades to where you're left with just the sweet vanilla tones. So still very pleasant! :)
OVER ALL THOUGHTS
Gorgeous scent, a real winner from Vera Wang! Everything about this perfume is lovely, from the packaging, to the bottle, to the scent itself!
I would recommend this to anyone who's a real girly girl at heart! To anyone who loves a sweet scent but finds some floral perfumes overpowering, or just to anyone after a nice daytime scent in general!
If you like your bold, classic, signature scents maybe Vera Wang Princess would be too 'safe' for you. But try it out anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised from all the different notes present in this perfume!
I recieved this fragrance as a christmas present. I am really picky with what fragrances I buy so normally its very hard to know what to get me. The Vera Wang princess frangrance came as part of a set with the 75ml bottle and small 25ml bottle (perfect for slipping in your handbag for nights out etc) with shower gel and body lotion. I absolutely love this fragrance. Its so light, fresh and fruity and very feminin with I love. I tend to over pray alot of perfume when i go out so i tend to get through half a bottle in one go as im always worried the smells going to go but with the vera wang a couple of spritzs are just enough and last all night and day which i was pleasently surprised about. The small version in the set is a really good idea as it comes in a small cute heart shaped bottle and slips discreetley away in your handbag. The larger bottle also comes with a gold, pink crystal ring which is part fo the lid and the lid is shaped in the form of a crown as well so its very feminine and flirty which i love. You really feel like a princess and i would definately reccommend this fragrance.
I love this perfume! I receieved this as a present, and straight away I loved it!
The bottle is really cute; its almost shaped like a sort of gem, with a purple-coloured scent. The lid is in the shape of a crown, which actually doubles up as a ring, however it didnt fit my finger. (Either it is made for younger girls or my fingers must be on the large side).
In terms of the scent, it is a beautiful and girly scent. It has almost a oriental scent. Its really addictive and not overpowering at all. I absolutely love it!
The perfume seems to last quite long as well. I always get compliments on it even a while after I've sprayed it, so it must last a while!
If you like girly perfumes, in cute bottles then this is definately the one for you! I would recommend you to buy it!
I LOVE Vera Wang Princess!
Such a fantastic scent - fruity, very fresh and girly!
I recieved this perfume firstly for my birthday last year, I was a bit hesitant because I had previously worn the same perfume for months (it was my signature scent) On receiving Vera Wang I absolutely loved it straight away. Great scent, very quirky shaped bottle and it always attracts attention.
I forever recieve comments 'you smell nice' 'what are you wearing?', but I must say my ultimate favourite is my partners comment 'you smell wangalicious'. The scent is very recognisable and quite honestly gives you a boost when you spray!
I feel its also necessary to note that it seems to be a perfume for any occassion - I wear it both day and night as its not to overpowering for the day but is 'flirty' enough for drinks in the evening!
Very reasonably priced and available through a wide variety of sources.
Definitely a mood raiser and a fantastic gift - I recieved two bottles for Christmas 2010.
I would highly recommend!
I have received this perfume as a gift twice over the past 2 years. It is an absolutely beautiful perfume and is very good quality for your money! The scent of the perfume is very girly, fruity and sweet. It is a beautiful fragrance which comes with lovely packaging. The bottle itself is very beautiful and lives up to its name, "Princess". The perfume itself lasts a very long time and you only need a little spritz as it's a very powerful smell that will last all day long! Overall, Excellent fragrance that I cannot fault one little bit!
I received Vera Wang Princess for my birthday last year. I was instantly intreguied by it because of the unusual bottle. As you can see from the picture of the product it is a clear heart shaped bottle with a gold crown lid. I have this on display on my bed side table because I think it is such a funky, original bottle.
Onto the fragance itself, I adore it! It has become one of my absolute favourite perfumes because of its sweet, floral scent. It is perfect for any occasion whether you wish to wear it during the day for work or to go out in the evening or just want to wear perfume for the sake of it. It is one of the most versitile perfumes I have found. It has quite a strong scent but this means that the smell lasts for hours so no need to keep reapplying it throughout the day or evening. This of course is far better than a perfume that you need to keep applying every few hours as it saves money by only having to use a small amount for the whole day.
It has a lovely sweet, rose smell that can be worn by any age group - not like some perfumes which are either very 'young people' smells or 'more mature' smells.
Overall this is definately one of the best perfumes I have ever used and I have only just had to buy a new bottle even though I wear it most days and I was given it in April last year! Lots of my friends have asked what perfume I'm wearing when I wear this one and they all love it. Many have gone on to buy it because of how lovely it smells. Seems to last for ages.
Because of not needing to reapply it and because it can be worn for many different occasions this is perfect for cutting money as you don't need to buy 5 different perfumes for 5 different occasions - Vera Wang Princess will suit them all.
I wouldn't recommend this perfume if you like subtle scents however, because it is quite a heavy, powerful scent.
Lovely perfume, lovely bottle would definately buy for yourself or as a present - no woman would be disappointed with Vera Wang Princess
Vera Wang Princess is a fruity, floral fragrance that is a blend of vanilla and pink guava / The chunky heart shaped bottle has a gold crown cap containing a hidden treasure / a keepsake gold band studded with tiny amethyst-coloured crystals /
