Advantages: Lovely fruity fragrance, gorgeous bottle
Disadvantages: None for me
Princess is a perfume from the Vera Wang fragrance collection.
I was bought a bottle of Vera Wang Princess for Christmas after dropping a few (dozen) hints to my boyfriend.
I have to admit that the only reason I first tried it out when I saw it was because of the bottle. The chunky glass heart shape, with it's gold pink "diamond" studded crown and pale pink perfume appealed to my girly nature. It really is a bottle which will look stunning on most dressing tables.
It comes in a pale pink box, with a purple heart on the front. The heart tells you it is Vera Wang Princess and has the crown design on the top of it to match the bottle inside. At the bottom in gold font it tells you the size of the bottle.
Remove the crown lid and underneath is a small gold ring in a similar design to the crown.
The perfume doesn't have a particularly heady or strong, which is perfect for me as a lot of perfumes give me headaches.
It has base notes of "pink frosting", vanilla, amber, woods, middle notes of geranium, clary sage, blue hyacinth, cedar wood and top notes of water lily, lady apple, mandarin, meringue and apricot.
When I first put it on the scent of vanilla really hits me, but after a while the top notes really come through.
For me it is perfect for day or evening wear but if I'm wearing it for a night out I use it with the velvety body butter which came with mine as part of a gift set. This helps the fragrance last for the whole evening, even without using the body butter it lasts although it does tend to fade but as it isn't a really strong scent from the offset I expect this. The subtle smell you are left with after a while, is very subtle and summery. If you do like a stronger more obvious smell then this perfume may not be for you, or you could keep a small bottle in your bag for top ups.
A 30ml bottle costs £32 from Boots while the largest 100ml bottle is £57.
Different gift sets are available especially around Christmas and these come in a very pretty pink box which is decorated with drawings of hearts, crowns and perfume bottles. These often offer great value for money with the extra for example body butter costing little or nothing extra to the perfume.
Though it won't be to everyone's taste, I think this is definitely worth trying next time you walk past a perfume counter.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Fit for a Princess

- 10/09/09 Sounds lovely I will go and test this out, I also can't wear heady perfumes even though I like the smell of some of them, I think you either suit the heavier perfumes or the softer smells like this. Good review :-) |

- 08/09/09 If I'd have been given this at 13 I'd have been really happy, I think she'll love it :) |

- 08/09/09 That sounds lovely, I might treat my granddaughter to a bottle for Christmas as she's 13 and hankering after her first 'proper' bottle of perfume. |
