I love Vera Wang perfumes and I have almost every fragrance she has ever released.
This Truly Pink eau de parfum has grown on me.
~ Price and availability ~
This fragrance is quite difficult to find now. It was initially released in 2006.
It is available in a 100ml bottle for just £32.95 from allbeauty.com (RRP £52.00).
It was also released in a 50ml bottle, which I haven't been able to find online.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle has a lovely, classic design. It has a thick, square shaped glass base and the bottle narrows a bit towards the top.
The bottle has a silver neck and the lid is made from clear plastic. 'Vera Wang Truly Pink', is written across the front in small black lettering.
The perfume itself is a light pink colour.
I love the bottle. It looks like a pretty gem.
~ Scent ~
The scent is very floral and it is quite strong.
The top notes are freesia, apricot and litchi.
The heart notes are peony, pink rose and lily of the valley.
The base notes are iris and creamy woodsy notes.
It is quite a harsh floral scent and I don't think it will appeal to everyone.
Before I first tried this fragrance I expected something a bit more pretty and girly, but this is quite mature and smells quite expensive and sophisticated.
The lily of the valley gives the harshness to the fragrance, but it doesn't overpower the pink rose, which brings a softness to it. I usually dislike lily of the valley, finding it too harsh, but I seem to be finding more and more fragrances that I like with lily of the valley in them.
I find that the fragrance lasts on my skin for around 5 hours before wearing away.
I would say that this is more of a day time scent than one I'd wear for nights out and I have only ever worn it during the day.
I have come to really like this fragrance. It is mature and feminine and it has quite a unique scent. It can be picked up quite cheaply at allbeauty.com, but it is quite difficult to find elsewhere.
I would recommend trying this fragrance before you buy it as I think some people might find it a bit harsh for their tastes.
I purchased this perfume for my wedding so I had something nice, new and girly to spritz myself with for my special day. Vera Wang was relatively new to the perfume circuit at this time, but was already a well established American designer who is famous for making lovely wedding dresses.
Her first perfume was simply titled Vera Wang - and this second edition of her perfume (launched in 2006) is more of a rose and floral fragrance. She also has some other fragrances out, including the more famous 'Princess' and 'Rock Princess' which have been quite popular.
Top notes: pink pomelo, crushed white ginger, lychee.
Other tones: pink rose accord, pink jasmine, blue peony, mango, orris.
Now, if I'm honest, I haven't ever smelled most of these notes before, so wouldn't really know what I'm looking for, but there is definitely a predominantly floral smell with a fruity undertone in there.
The perfume market is quite saturated with feminine floral fragrances, so in this respect, there is nothing all that new with this perfume. However, I think it's really wearable and feminine, and is perfect for day to day, or even special occasion wear. I wouldn't think of it as an evening perfume as it's a bit too light for this purpose. I wouldn't call this a 'stand out' perfume, and you're not going to get people coming up to you saying, oh my gosh you smell gorgeous, what's your perfume?'. You'd probably do just as well grabbing a floral perfume from Crabtree & Evelyn and smelling more or less the same.
The bottle, however, is so lovely and feminine, it reminds me of a wedding dress due to its shape, and is very girly as the colour of the perfume is a delicate rosy pink which shows through the bottle. It looks really posh and expensive sitting on your dressing table. The bottle is a bit stumpy in shape so perhaps not as easy to hold and grip as some of the taller perfume bottles, but its not that troublesome, and the lid comes on and off with ease.
This is a fairly high quality perfume, and if you buy the eau de parfum, as I did, you will find the scent lingers for a couple of hours, but after this I couldn't really smell it so had to add another few squirts.
It's not available as widely now as when it first came out (so this makes me think its not been so popular), but I have seen it on Amazon for approx £35 including postage for a 50ml eau de parfum bottle, which is quite reasonable for a premium brand perfume as I'm sure it was more expensive than this when I bought it.
If you like your rose and floral fragrances, you're sure to like this perfume, and the bottle is so lovely and timeless. However, it's not the only nice floral fragrance out there I'm sure, and I don't think its that long lasting, so try before you bother buying!!
This lush, floral fragrance was inspired by the grace of a single rose - deep in complexity and budding with possibility. It captures the fragrant caress of rose petals on the skin with an enchanting femininity that epitomizes Vera Wang's style.
